Bio

A quick introduction of myself and a few associates of mine

For real though, I'm a Brit who dabbles in most genres of roleplay, but tends to go for fantasy and sci-fi in particular. I prefer high casual, but will use a more or less advanced writing style if I like the concept.

Each time one of the twins spoke, the man flinched, as if in pain. Odd, though a suitable explanation for the man's agression. If even a short sentence was equivalent to an attack, well, life must be hell for him. It was a shame, but he would have to die. The alternative was a short and painful life for him, which would also put those around him at risk should he attack them.

In response to his attack, Nilori and Cirilyn retreated towards the girl. Nilori remained in her defensive position, using her shield to block against any particularly far-reaching flames. Once the attack was finished, they spun 180 degrees, and Cirilyn fired her crossbow, being already cocked from earlier, aiming at the man's chest. Now it was Nilori's turn to face the girl, who now appeared prepared to fight.

Mathew Jem Darwinson

12:30pm onwards, April 10th-13th 2012

Mathew was quite happy to leave, when the day finally arrived in April. Things had been difficult at his home for several years now - his parents and their heir hadn't gotten along for a long time, because- it hurt to think about. At the scheduled time, he got into the back seat of his car (a 1954 Bentley R-Type Continental, one of only 208 ever made, in sleek black, of course), and was chauffred to the train station. It was from there he took the train to Paris, while the car was taken back home. Monsier Van Bonaparte had even been so kind as to providing transport for Atalanta, Mathew's horse. Though Mathew did not enquire into the process of bringing Atalanta across the channel, he did ensure that she would be treated well. He was satisfied.

The train was first-class, of course. No expense was spared in ensuring Mathew's trip was an enjoyable one, there was only so much that could be done outside of a stationary accomodation. Mathew rarely travelled long-distance, and was admittedly a little dissapointed with Bonaparte. But then, if the man really could do what he claimed to, Mathew supposed it was forgivable. After finishing his meal, he allowed himself to fall asleep.

It was late when the train arrived, but Mathew was still expeditious. His hotel, the HΓ΄tel Fouquet’s BarriΓ¨re, demomstrated that Bonaparte at least had good taste in accomodation. Unfortunately, his time of arrival limited his options somewhat - instead he decided to enjoy the city of love in the morning, since his sleep on the train had hardly been ideal anyway.

Mathew was reunited with Atalanta in said morning, who had her own accomodation on the outskirts of the city until the 14th, when they would be meeting Bonaparte in person for the first time. He was... an interesting figure, certainly. Possessed of an immense wealth, like Mathew, but shrouded utterly in secrecy to the point where many came up with make-believe about him. Why he would do that was certainly something Mathew was inclined to learn about, as he had difficulty understanding the notion himself.

Mathew spent the days leading up to then enjoying both the city and his hotel (like he said, Bonaparte had good taste). On the final night, he did spend some time in its very well-stocked bar, and admittedly it was probably a little too much.

Late morning, April 14th 2012

Maybe more than a little. Mathew got himself out of bed. Christ, his head... He did his best to fix himself, he looked like a wreck. Wait, today was- ok, it was still only the morning, he had time before Bonaparte's gathering. Good, it would seem unprofessional to be late.

His last few hours in Paris. He had seen all the things everyone seemed to get so excited about, so, after retrieving Atalanta, he spent much of his remaining time with those less famous. Though he was uninterested in most, he did find an odd little cafΓ© that seemed to be utterly unpatriotic - everything about it seemed like it wished it were British, but didn't know exactly what that meant. Regardless, he certainly wasn't going to argue: Britain was his home, and had been all of his life. Even a false fabricaton was an attempt to recreate it, and for one who rarely travelled, such as Mathew, something familiar would be very welcome. He was just taking a seat outside when he saw a worried-looking man rush out of it. He wondered what on Earth was the matter, until he noticed the envelope that seemed to be the cause of the man's worry. The envelope that looked remarkably similar to Mathew's own.
I recently convinced a friend of mine to join the Guild, @ASAP Cluck. However, since joining (~17 hours ago), she has decided to not make a single post, not even to indroduce herself. My solution: SPAM HER WITH NOTIFICATIONS UNTIL THE END OF TIME. Who's gonna help?
"We've seen you fighting. What's going on?" Nilori speaks this time, towards the man in front of her. The twins walk slowly towards him, Nilori in a defensive position behind her shield, sword point at the man's heart, Cirilyn still with her crossbow pointed at the girl. They would need answers before they would attack, though the would respond to a fight should one start.

Consiering the power of the quarian fleet, it is likely they were some of the most significant contributors to the final battle, which would probably earn them some galactic recognition. I'm willing to bet that, say, 100 years from the Reaper War they could have the funding that quarian marines would look like that.

Details and Background Information

The Archangel - Psychological Description

Avacyn, The Archangel, is immensely benevolent towards humans. She was created to protect them, and she takes her job very seriously. She finds children easier to empathise with than adults - their innocence makes their mindset more similar to her own. Avacyn never smiles, despite her positive alignment, as she does not understand the point. It is believed that she can hear every prayer spoken in her home, Innistrad. She is also not above killing other angels if she decides it is the correct decision - she once killed another high-ranking angel (name unknown) and her entire flight (unit of angels) for allying with demons. It is also worth noting she fought the entire group alone. Avacyn has been described by other angels as one of the most powerful and confident of their race.

The Purifier - Psychological Description

After her corruption, Avacyn, now the Purifier, is a very different character. She believes humanity is the source of evil in the world - not the vampires, werewolves, or even the eldrazi abominations that she was made to defend against. She has commited gencide against humans in her beliefs, she did not even recognise the vampire who created her. Her fighting style greatly reflects her changed mindset: she is much more agressive and uses her speed and mobility to her advantage. She is short-sighted and hateful, focusing on the execution of humanity and ignoring the real threat.

Avacyn - Brief History

The vampire Sorin Markov created Avacyn to create balance between humanity and the various dark creatures that hunted them in Innistrad. By stopping either side from ever getting more powerful than the other, she prevented extinction on both sides of the fight. Though Sorin's method worked for a long time, it was eventually broken by the demon Griselbrand. He challenged Avacyn to battle, and after fighting for days, the only way Avacyn could stop Griselbrand was to trap them both in the Helvault, possibly forever. She did, removing the balance between humanity and the rest of Innistrad, throwing it into chaos once more. She was soon freed, however, by the necromancer Lilliana Vess, who wished to kill Griselbrand in order to free herself from the demonic pact that would cost her her soul should she fail. Releasing Avacyn involved releasing all of the demons in the Helvault, though the selfish Lilliana likely cared about neither the archangel nor the other demons - her focus was solely on Griselbrand. Upon Avacyn's return, part of her defence of humanity involved the cursemute - the transformation of many (willing) werewolves into wolfir, creatures like werewolves, but an unchanging mix of the two aspects rather than one sometimes and one others. In return for this, they were expected to protect humanity the way Avacyn did. A powerful and strange spell cast by Nahiri later planted a seed of suspicion in Avacyn's mind. Over the following months, she witnessed a number of foul acts commited by humanity which convinced her that humanity was unfit for her protection. After attempting (and in some cases, succeeding) to convince other angels of her beliefs, she made an attack on humanity, slaughtering hundreds before she was finally stopped.

Arena Information

Weapons and Gear
  • Avacynian Longspear - Avacyn's twin-pronged longspear glows slightly in the presence of evil (The Archangel) or humans (The Purifier). Its shape means that someone stabbed by it will have difficulty freeing themselves. Avacyn generally wields it in one hand, and it works as a medium for her Burning Light ability.
  • Celestial Armour - Armour forged by angels, made for fightinf the darkest creatures Innistrad has to offer. It is light, but as strong as well-made steel. Avacyn uses chainmail, with plates covering particular areas aditionally (see images for specifics).

Skills and Special Abilities
  • Wings - Being an angel, Avacyn can fly quickly for long durations. The Purifier's are heavily stained with blood, doing little other than creating an extremely intimidating and obviously hostile appearance.
  • Burning Light - Avacyn can channel a beam of light through her longspear. This is a solid, constant beam that will create deep trenches (up to one foot) even in stone. Getting hit by something like this would usually be instantly fatal, and armour or a shield would be little use. However, it cannot be maintained by more than several seconds (about 10), and it is obvious when Avacyn is about to do so, as her longspear glows brightly (more so than when detecting evil/humans) for a second or two before the attack begins.
  • The Smell of Blood (The Purifier only) - Avacyn, The Purifier, can smell a wound from dozens of metres away, making it difficult to hide from her. However, the smell also drives her into a frenzy, forgetting what little defense she was using in favour of an all-out attack.
To make this easier on everyone else, I'm gonna pull out. I've got enough rp in my life right now (but as soon as I don't, you can sure as hell expect me to launch a ME rp, especially considering the enthusiasm here).
@Shoryu Magami Mathew won't be using the escort, and I plan to have him arrive at ~5pm. Obviously that leaves a lot of time to spare, but it's about when the escort is leaving, so it should coincide with the others fairly well.
@Xavier Bloodbayne Wanted to point out that you said something IC that is incorrect. You said both had shields, in truth both have swords, one has a crossbow in her off-hand, the other has a shield. Didn't mean to be picky or something, it's just that if Cirilyn ends up stabbing your character, I don't want to get into an argument over whether or not she has a sword. So Nilori = sword and shield, Cirilyn = sword and crossbow.
