Sashia chuckled as she finished teaching her Ninetails the moves it need before putting her Z ring back on and making sure a glowing purple gem was inserted this time before she winked at her foe and said "Well I hope your not a quick shot like the last battle. I want to have a great fight"
"You'll get one, I assure you," Shiranui rebutted, "After all, I'm no slouch in the contest circuit."
"I won't be that easy to beat," replied Shiranui.
Shiranui saw he would be facing Sashia in the semis.
His first opponent had sent out a Farfetch'd and Shiranui sent his shiny Aegislash into battle. Some of the people were astonished to find out the sword on Shiranui's back was an actual Pokémon. Farfetch'd put up a good fight, but Yoto's demonstration of various swordplay moves won Shiranui the first spot in the semi-final by a knockout.
"I've heard quite a bit about Alola and how different it was to the other regions," replied Shiranui.
"Judging by the vortex and how they gave her a perfect score, I'm inclined to agree on that," replied Shiranui, "We're going to have our work cut out competing in this run of contests."
"Wow," Shiranui commented, checking his Pokédex on the vortex move.
"Hydro Vortex, a Water-type Z-Move. The user creates a huge whirling current using its Z-Power to swallow the target with full force. The power varies, depending on the original move."
"Not even Wallace or Juan could pull that off," he added.
"If it makes you feel better, they're not native to this region," Shiranui assured, knowing Liam was only uneasy because both of an Alolan Ninetales' types were strong against Dragon types.
"They may be strong against Dragon types, but they carry the weaknesses of both their types," Shiranui pointed out.
"Nor mine." Liam commented. "It would be fair to assume all three of us will move on to the next round, but there is one coordinator I am curious about." Liam stated. "She was in here with a white Ninetales."

Shiranui was perplexed at the mention of a white Ninetales. He pulled out his Pokédex and asked it, "Dexter, what info do you have on a white Ninetales?"
"Ninetales: Alola Form, the Fox Pokémon. Possessing a calm demeanor, this Pokémon was revered as a deity incarnate before it was identified as a regional variant of Ninetales." He saw on the Pokédex the Alolan variant was an Ice/Fairy type instead of Fire and remembered what Majin said about Alolan variants of Kantonian species.
"I must have one of those," he mused as he completed his Battle Round appearance by letting his shiny Aegislash out and having him take his place on Shiranui's back.
"Wouldn't be the first high-level coordinator I faced," said Shiranui.
