Shiranui agreed with Hala's suggestion as Totem Pokémon didn't have the luxury of healing machines that the gym leaders had in other regions.

Shiranui approached the Totem Gumshoos and it along with a different Yungoos took their battle positions. "Ashika, Bakeru, I choose you!" He sent his Popplio and Mimikyu out and his first Island Trial was underway. Ashika started with Baby-Doll Eyes on the Yungoos and Bakeru broke out his Charm attack. Both Yungoos and Gumshoos suffered a drop in their Attack stats, the latter of which was harsh. Gumshoos gave Bakeru a Bite and that busted the Mimikyu's Disguise while Yungoos tried to use Super Fang on the same target, but Bakeru wasn't affected by it. Bakeru used Feint Attack on Gumshoos and landed a hit and in retaliation, Gumshoos took another Bite out of the Mimikyu. Yungoos used Super Fang on Ashika and that cut the Popplio's HP in half. Ashika gave both opponents a Disarming Voice and Gumshoos went down. Bakeru turned his attention to Yungoos and gave it a Feint Attack. Yungoos barely survived the hit and retaliated by giving Ashika a sharp bite with Hyper Fang. Ashika sprayed Yungoos with Water Gun and Yungoos went down.

Gumshoos got back up and acknowledged its defeat and the crystal-bearing Yungoos came up and handed Gumshoos a second Normalium Z. Gumshoos handed Shiranui the crystal and Shiranui gave Gumshoos and his Yungoos opponent a Sitrus Berry each so they'll be ready for their next battle.

Shiranui followed Liam, listening in to the information exchanged amongst the others.

"Alola, Ajay," Shiranui greeted back.

Shiranui woke up and went to the lobby with Ashika and Bakeru in his arms and an undisguised Zoro following behind. "Alola everyone," he greeted, "Liam, you feeling alright?"

Shiranui checked into the Pokémon Centre and heard Liam's scream. He noted to himself to ask Liam what it was about when they met up again before he turned in for the night.

Sashia noticed him looking at her and Elisa so she waved to him "good battle there Shiranui, Tapu Koko seems to have enjoyed that battle though I think you're using your stronger Pokemon too much"

"Jangmo-o did manage to overcome a type disadvantage and knock Bakeru out," replied Shiranui, "It was actually with Liam for a while back in Kanto so it had quite a bit of experience. I only won because of Destiny Bond."

Shiranui also heard Tapu Koko's cry and deduced it was the guardian's. He also saw Sashia conversing with Elisa and although he couldn't make out what they were saying, he was glad he had Zoro on his Team. "Elisa seemed to have warmed up to Zoro over time, but he still needs to prove to her that he is a worthy mate by defeating her in battle."

"I doubt we will, but we must remember to adapt our strategies in case of any surprises," replied Shiranui.

"I hope Tapu Koko was watching," said Shiranui, "Because that was a close match."
