Bio

Hey all, JB here.

I'm a DM for a large number of games here on RPG, as well as a player in several others. Many of the games I run are overly complex, or they involve Dungeons and Dragons (which is also overly complex!).

I work 40+ hours a week, and am the proud father of two tiny terrors named Chibi and Chibette and married to my beautiful Wifey. As such, I am quite busy more often than not. I typically write 2-5 paragraphs per reply and try to maintain an excellent level of grammar. If you noticed me glancing at your profile, I probably was looking to see if you would be a good match for my RPing style. Even if I didn't send a PM to you, feel free to send one back!

I enjoy 1x1 RPs and small groups. I'm fond of medieval, steampunk, and futuristic settings, and I'll jump into romance, adventure, and slice of life RPs fairly quickly, although supernatural (vampires, werewolves, etc) RPs get old for me pretty quickly. If you're looking for an RP partner and I've glanced at your profile, then I'm most likely willing to give it a shot, but decided against PMing you because I'm actually kinda shy. But I'm always looking for a new friend!

Please feel free to say hi at any time!

@ihinka I have also DM'd a player who was a Blood Hunter, so I'd be glad to help out too :)
@The Harbinger of Ferocity I'll just note my PC idea currently is a Monk / Moon Druid. I don't think we'd interfere with each others' abilities, but something to keep in mind. Shepard is great for summons with the Xanathar's changes. If you don't have the Xanathar book, I can get you that subclass.
@Cu Chulainn I believe the plan stated in the OP is to have you both gain starting gear and roll wealth, then take both. I could be wrong though.
The infighting among her crew did not please Jill, but thankfully it ended before she had to step in and stop it. She raised an eyebrow at Dyn and sent him a telepathic Message. "Of course she cannot compete with you, but we need her in one piece. Let's try to work together." She couldn't be sure whether the beholder would let her into his deeper thoughts, but she knew he would prefer silent admonishment over an overt discipline. Plus, much of the crew still were not aware that she was the actual captain. Well, not directly.

Jill swam towards the entrance to the Verdant Stream, pushing against the current into its maw. It wasn't long before they had entered the cavernous structure and were able to really observe it closely. To the mages in the group, it was fairly obvious that this entire structure was magical in nature, likely summoned or conjured as a prison for the marid. As they entered, there was a small room just inside the entrance with a wooden door blocking it. A barred window allowed a peek inside where piles of gold and other items lay, some of which were bound to be taken from powerful adventurers on a similar quest. Perhaps magical? Jill waited until everyone had entered the Verdant Stream and nodded towards the doorway. "Think we should open it?" she asked.
I sent a PM with my Discord info. I'll wait to see who else is interested before making a sheet, but you have my interest!
Heyo! A couple of quick questions:

1) Do you allow CS's that are designed to be updated on the fly like Mythweavers or Dicecloud? Those make it easier to maintain a character sheet without needing to re-upload every time something cbanges, like being poked in the face by a goblin. I spend a lot of time on mobile and probably would have trouble uploading a pdf for every minor change, and potentially would take a while for major changes as well. Here are some examples of the same PC on both formats (I have planned ahead on Dicecloud since it's not the official sheet for the RP, so ignore the features that are missing a checkmark): Myth-Weavers | DiceCloud.

2) I know you want to keep the adventure for us to discover in game, but fo you have an overall tone? It would help me decide which characters to try out. Drunken Master Monk doesn't work in every campaign, for example.

Also, the Xanathar's Guide to Everything was recently released, which updated several subclasses that were previously in SCAG or UA content. Not sure if you are aware or have a copy. If you are in need of a copy, I know a few rogues who have expertise in acquiring downloadable copies, or I can point you towards their store :) I'm also working on collecting all character building info in one place, so I can get you full texts of specific things as needed should I join.

Edit: one more thing. We have a fairly active D&D family on Discord. It can make communication and strategy on the go a little easier since a lot of people are more active there than on RPG. Of course, it also requires everyone to get/use Discord.
I wonder if this might work well as a small group PM or Discord channel. I worry there would be a lot of blurred lines as to what's acceptable on the public face and what's necessary for story. I have an idea for one of the rebellious androids potentially, but I don't think it would be great to put more details in public. It would be difficult to work around the necessary limitations of the guild rules for public content.

Her spell seemed to do little more than tickle the Green Man, and Katia felt that her radiant bolts would be about as useful. "Thanks, milya," Katia whispered before charging towards the paladin. She darted forward like a cat chasing her prey, smashing the back of his head as he moved away and following up with a scratch and a kick against his armor.

She then kicked off from her foe, blasting away from him like a streak of shadow. "You are not finished with me yet, false priest!" she called out. "I have no need of taking this world! I just want everything back to the way things were!" Back to how it was before the shadows came, to life with Wick in peace. To feeling like she finally belonged some place.

The attack from the Green Man was enough to send Katia reeling, but as the radiance of his smite connected, she took hold of its energy, sending it back to her assailant, although the strike seemed less than effective. His words echoed in her ears even as the world seemed to fade. Neither Shadow nor Light shall rule? They did not come here with an intent to force a change in the balance of power. Indeed, their arrival was happenstance, and they had yet to fully understand what was happening since the inhabitants seemed more focused on attacking or accusing them than conversation.

Something else grabbed her attention: in this area of sacred light, none of the shades dared to enter. Indeed, she felt as if she were almost unable to enter the room with the shadows, almost as if Light and Darkness were fightimg a tangible war before them. Could they turn the tides?

Should they?
