Bio

Hey all, JB here.

I'm a DM for a large number of games here on RPG, as well as a player in several others. Many of the games I run are overly complex, or they involve Dungeons and Dragons (which is also overly complex!).

I work 40+ hours a week, and am the proud father of two tiny terrors named Chibi and Chibette and married to my beautiful Wifey. As such, I am quite busy more often than not. I typically write 2-5 paragraphs per reply and try to maintain an excellent level of grammar. If you noticed me glancing at your profile, I probably was looking to see if you would be a good match for my RPing style. Even if I didn't send a PM to you, feel free to send one back!

I enjoy 1x1 RPs and small groups. I'm fond of medieval, steampunk, and futuristic settings, and I'll jump into romance, adventure, and slice of life RPs fairly quickly, although supernatural (vampires, werewolves, etc) RPs get old for me pretty quickly. If you're looking for an RP partner and I've glanced at your profile, then I'm most likely willing to give it a shot, but decided against PMing you because I'm actually kinda shy. But I'm always looking for a new friend!

Please feel free to say hi at any time!

I may have directly intended it to be McCree's voice (who was voiced by Matt Mercer). Just waiting for someone to ask what time it is.

The raven-feathered head bobbed to and fro as the kenku followed the conversation. Most humanoids had such odd naming conventions, insisting on a meaningless jumble of sounds that sounded vaguely wordlike. Those whose names had a meaning often didn't know the meaning or had no reason to care. Jacoby. Safira. Shaedra. Meaningless terms of reference, and yet required for interaction. Kenku names were more personal, chosen by the kenku himself to represent what they were known for. A collection of sounds... although other humanoids often were unable to replicate them. Another reminder of what he had lost.

The Sapphire sounded as uncomfortable with crowds as the Kenku was, withdrawing into her shell like a shy hatchling as others approached. The elf seemed concerned with some star, and her goal could potentially be of interest to the kenku. The word spoken behind her did not escape the kenku's hearing, and it sounded as if a companion were close by, be it animal, humanoid, or construct. She seemed from cursory glance a master of nature, perhaps of beasts, but appearances were oft inaccurate. Patience was key.

The next to appear was intriguing to say the least. A fish out of water, speaking in near gibberish and comparing him to the lofty and distant cousins whose wings were never clipped. The avian people that the gods still smiled upon were never allies of this kenku's, nor of any he had met. And yet, before the unintended insult could pass by ignored, the Jacoby one found it his place to correct the fish. And the elf. This kenku found it fortunate that the man had not found cause to correct his vocalizations yet.

Out came the flask as this Jacoby one talked, and the sound of liquid being consumed could be heard. Once the man had silenced himself, and barring any more immediate interruptions, the kenku deigned to respond. "Words are... words," came the sound of an elderly man, as if he were a teacher in a classroom performing a lecture. "Their meaning is meaningless on their own." The voice switched, now mimicking that of a young girl, full of wonder and curiosity. "Pleased to meetcha! My name is..."

What followed next was a series of sounds that could only be described as a boxing match being vocalized. Punches whizzed by, yet never seemed to land. The kenku ducked and weaved, almost looking as if he would fall over from the sudden movements, yet never quite losing his balance. The sounds and motions continued only a few seconds before they ceased, replaced by a man's voice drawling lazily and not a little bit drunk. "But y'all can call me... Bobbin Wiev. A damned kenku, no less!" The voice was replaced by the old teacher's voice, this time sounding energetic and happy. "We call him the Drunken Owlbear, too. You should see him fight!"

The head cocked towards the triton, and the kenku's eyes blinked lazily. The energy with which he had talked seemed to be an ill match for the kenku's current state. The voice next mirrored the triton's own words, a facsimile of the fish man's previous statement: "Guardian of the Flotes!" The kenku's head bobbed the other direction before the little girl's voice could be heard again. "What's that?"
@Guardian Angel Haruki Could I assume bird people might know of their bird cousins?
The spell for detecting magic could, of course, be performed as a ritual in order to reduce the magical exertions, but by then, Dyn's spell would have run out. Although Jill was beginning to run low on spells already, she acquiesced, and the entirety of the world around her lit up in magical auras, each school giving off a unique light. As she examined the area, she described what she could see so the others could make sense of it too.

The entire structure reeked of conjuration and transmutation magic, but there was no difference between the doorway and the other parts of the structure. The green-hued water had a hint of necromancy in it, and several items in the room had strong magical auras. From her position, Jill could make out a few potions, a necklace of some sort (seemingly with several colored gems on it), and what appearef to be a pair of spectacles and a feather. No doubt these items were collected from unfortunate passersby who were captured or killed by the guard dogs. "I don't see a trap on this door, nor any illusion magic," Jill announced.
@Nymeria Do you want to set up a group PM? I think 5 is the max people you can add.

The paladin was apparently distracted by Theodore and Wick just long enough for Cesar to dash forward. Katia was still unsure of exactly what he intended to do and how it would help, but she was starting to get a picture. Had the Shadow overtaken the Paladin's soul? Would spreading the light heal the Green Man? Or would he still chase after them until he died? Katia said a silent prayer for the man as she charged forward swinging her staff.

The paladin must be getting dizzy by now. The staff smashed him in the face beneath his helm, while the claw against his armor did little more than scratch it. She kept running, ducking under his weapon as she passed between the paladin and Wick and followed after Cesar. "I'm with you, Cesar," she whispered, offering a smile and a pat on his back. "Let's do this!"

@Cu Chulainn - Cesar (Next!)
@The Harbinger of Ferocity - DM
Let's do it. I think starting would be best for most of us :)
To add to that question, who are we waiting for still?
@ihinka
Part of kenku's description says that all of their speech uses their mimicry talent, meaning they need to hear a phrase in use in order to say it. Thus a lot of his speech will be a bit colorful and not exactly relating what happens. I knew she hadn't drawn a blade, but Bobbin was trying to convey the idea of staying one's hand, combining words he heard in a tavern, a woman selling wares in a market, and some other location. Since he has spent relatively little time speaking Common, it might be a bit more broken than normal.
I'd still be game. Would be nice to get another lady on board though.
