Yeah, I intend to make his father one of those in Italy (he died of course), and he had been taught Russian ever since he entered school (I still remember Russian being a common second language to be taught when the Russian influence was still strong, until English came). He is one of the resistance member against the Japanese in 1942. (Assuming the French kicked them out soon) After the operation, he volunteered to be transferred to the Russian front due to no surviving family. Known for his great bravery during several battles, which he inherits from his father, Squad 914 conscripted him to test out a new experimental mine that prove to be extremely dangerous for the user, something which nobody in the Reserve Squadrons have the courage to use.

By the looks of it, you will be the only other person that has the combat experience, as well as myself.
@LetMeDoStuff

Thank you so much! That cleared every wonders I currently have about my character. So now instead of being half Russian half Vietnamese, I can make him full Vietnamese. And his lore would be more interesting than the previous sketch that I have in mind. And that mine I talked about, it will be fun. Again, love the effort you put into these

He'd most likely be one that was taught Russian at a slightly younger age, up to today, meaning that maybe a family member of his may of been sent off to Italy to fight. Would you say he'd be a volunteer for the Reserve Division or conscripted randomly to join Squad 914 without any introduction?
I like the concept, I will hopefully have a support soldier heading your way soon.

Great to hear! Can't wait.

@LetMeDoStuff
So I've picked a picture for my character, and he holds the exact equipment that I wanted to show (Well, not really but its my biggest inspiration). It's from a Vietnamese FPS shooter game, so he is Vietnamese. So I wonder if I can make my character a half Russian half something else. Sure it's a Soviet based RP, but I think having a half Russian half Vietnamese soldier might be fun. I'll make sure to handle with the background to make it plausible

You can, actually. I have multiple lore figures surrounding the different communist countries around the country. For your sake, this is Veitnam's story.

In 1926, the Vietnamese signed a contract to allow Russian teachers to come into their country and form extended linguistic teaching in the hopes the two countries could become allies in an expected worldwide war to come.

Whilst the French regained its control of Vietnam early on in the War, it also became the place of regrouping after the French and capitulated. They spent two years preparing a mass invasion for Italy, gaining the help of the Volunteers from Saigon and Hanoi. The invasion force grew to be 632,000, 421,000 of those being French military personnel. On August 7th, 1945, the fleet began their journey towards Italy. Here, became one of the greatest disasters of the war, The Naval Engagement at Sicily.

The combined French and Vietnamese military, though with many differences in the past, strongly headed for the beacheads of Sicily and Southern Italy. Both fleets headed straight into a blockade of three Spanish and Italian fleets, where a colossal Naval battle emerged. Many of the Vietnamese and French soldiers were killed and drowned before they even got a chance to fire their guns.

In the midst of the Chaos, the F!set scrambled their landing craft and headed for their rendezvous points. A total of 54,000 of the original force managed to make it, and two French destroyers managed to escape the naval battle.

Both landing parties were dropped in the midst of the chaos, suddenly trapped and forced to fight as they sought out to survive. Amongst the two weeks these soldiers had to survive, three only managed to return to the homeland alive.

Sih Bao, an credited fighter of the Invasion Fleet, was the only Vietnamese soldier to survive. The two Frenchmen, before committing suicide for their failure, told officials in Vietnam that Sih was incredible in managing Street combat. His urban warfare stories published everywhere.

Sih, being a hero in many eyes, caught the attention of the Russian allies. After the two countries had allied a decade ago, designated towns were built in Russia to accommodate Vietnamese migrants. They recruited Sih as a Urban Specialist and advisors, eventually pushing him onwards to train additional units. He attracted thousands, who ended up making a Viet-Russian division for Russian speaking Vietnamese men and women, who were deployed for urban combat. An reserve division of the same name were also deployed.

Eventually, Sih Bao was pulled from his position, and entered as a training instructor for the programme "Squad 914".
WIP Character sheet. Experimental Gear section is pretty much done though.

So far, it looks pretty decent. Can't wait for it to be completed fully. I'll start !making mine so it's easier to understand
Reporting in, sir!

Good to hear.

I'll start working on my CS tomorrow, in fact.

A wintery chill diffused between the buildings of the streets, where the only sound were the footsteps of heavy duty boots made an appearance in the night. Slow and monotonous, it continued throughout the alleyways that shrouded the man in darkened shadows. From here, it made its way closer and closer towards a side-entrance of a great hall, built up of a thick concrete made to withstand even the heaviest of bombardments. On the inside, only a glimmer of light remained in sight, surrounding the doors the man went towards. A moonlight glisten broke through tiny windows.

Taking what he had, the man lit a few matches as he trekked around the circumference of the room. He lit the room on, bit by bit, candle by candle. Around the outskirts, the light began to fill the room slowly. It was a slow and patient process, but it had to be done at the given time. The man had pledged to take on such a duty in the respect of such a memorial. The years had passed since the events had unfolded, and whether or not the world was ridden of evil or not was uncertain. With hours like these and only a minute addition of pay, the task and duty seemed all but useless. But this man was old, withered and clocking up the end of his days. He had to give up his time to return the favour of those he sent forward into the fray of globalised conflict. These individuals were to be treated as heroes for not only the duty they had, but how they did it. It was a shame that he knew if any of them were still around to witness the statue granted in their own honour and achievement.

The candles eventually lit up the statue. It didn't show any figures, faces or bodies at all. Only an insignia was all that was needed to represent the story of these people. A project built off of hope, and only hope. They were the ones that tried the impossible. He just wanted to remember their faces once more, as if they were still under his command and able to reflect the impact they had...

The trucks all arrived at their destination, ending the convoy's formation as they spread out into the clearing of the vehicle depot. The rear-doors were opened by whichever assistant posted in the depot during the early hours. From the back, a selection of men and women were unloaded out, brought forwards towards the centre of the depot. Directly in the middle, in front of where they were guided, a small podium was placed down in preparation for the welcoming speeches and what not.

A selection of individuals stood in the centre. Some of different nationalities, many of different backgrounds. Those with clothing similar to their military background, others with attire worn down by the years of conflict they'd been fighting. Some had attire of their own, loosely constructed from resistance cells or militia fighting grounds. Around the depot stood formally dressed officers and high-ranking soldiers, all here to witness the formation speech that would inform and release all the information about the project at hand. Many had no idea what they were getting themselves into. Some had a brief idea, but what their prize for turning up was could not have been anywhere near their knowledge.

Men and women, both from the frontlines and the reserve armies, all stood amongst one another. Some conversed between each other about why they were here, or introducing themselves to the likes of the others brought to this camp. In the centre of the USSR, this was the furthest some of them had been away from conflict, and others found it the closest they had been to it if they were in the Eastern Reserve divisions. Either way, some could guess the crucial importance of the project just by the location of the camp. Most Soviet soldiers were trained far closer to the frontlines. Stalin and his officers believed that they could prepare the waves of fresh faces by allowing them to hear the gunfire in the distance, the artillery bombarding either side out beyond the hills. In some ways, it was a successful method, but in preparing them for the sights, instead of the sounds, of war, it was sometimes seen as ineffective.

Suddenly, the officers surrounding the group stood to a sharp attention, as the crowd began to die down in their conversations. A man, tall in his stance, took up towards the podium laid out earlier. It was a short wait for him to arrive since the group's arrival. Eventually, he cleared his throat, beginning his speech. His voice was raspy, rough and toughened by the experience behind the uniform. His eyes glared down as if they'd seen enough friends, families and legacies destroyed by shrapnel bombardments. A dark beard sat around the dry mouth of his, like the symbolic fur of the bear; the nation's reputation itself.

"Before I make any formal introductions, all I can say is that I am glad to be finally meeting all of you." A deep echo rebounded off of the depot's walls, back down the throat it came out of. The voice rang out to the ears of his 'guests'. "My name, if you have not guessed, is Yuri Vychenko. I am your new Commanding Officer. I am your new superior. I am the reason you are all gathered here...all of these faces. Before me, I see those whose appearances speak to me and tell me who you are. I see, to name a few, a German defect, a seasoned fighter of the Vietnamese detachments, a veteran and Survivor of Leningrad...And many who are yet to face the Third Reich in person. You are all here to see yourselves as the future hope for the Soviet Union, for our regime and nation as we know it. And because of that, I cannot express the gladness it is to see you all together for once."

The Officer led his hand to the left of him, where numerous uniformed personnel lined up, documents all within their hands. None of them held welcoming smiles, but their posture and dress-code showed that they were proud to be seeing what might be the future of Russia, and the world, as they knew it.

"To your right, you will see an alignment of Officers, all of which you will encounter during your stay here for further training. Whilst I would love to introduce you more to the programme now, I'll have to save that to a more personal level later, as I have meetings to attend to. Get your documents off of these officers, my comrades, as they will direct you all to your own personal quarters, your selected designation as chosen by our processing and something a little more...special. Talk amongst yourselves after you've done so, head over to your barracks...Then all of you will report to me at 0900...Oh, and...Welcome to Squad 914."

World War II should've ended with the defeat of the Third Reich by the Soviet Union, and the dropping of two nuclear payloads onto Japan. That's how the world should've been left, where the course of the entire future of Earth would remain, changed forever to learn from its mistakes of mass war. However, this never happened. At least not in the way many expected.

The year is now 1948. The Third Reich and its Fuhrer have already defeated all but one single enemy. Germany was assisted by an array of much needed help given from the Spanish after their Civil War outcome left a Fascist ruler on top. By 1942, Germany, Italy and Spain amassed a large-scale invasion of Southern England. The Italians landed in Portsmouth, the Spanish invaded Norfolk and Germany desperately landed in London, causing a few desperate months of fighting that led to the surrender of Great Britain, now split into two halves: that of an installed German-governed area in the south, and a puppet government in the north. Before the Americans could make a move into retaking Germany, the Imperialist Japanese forces somehow sprung into action, landing thousands of troops onto several wide-spread landing zones on the West Coast of America, keeping them busy and at bay. As for now, all eyes rest on the Soviet Union, the last standing force against the Axis.

Technology has developed only for the war efforts, and the new inventions of both German and Russian war machines have excelled at an alarming rate. By late 1946, the German production line sought the first Wandertank, or 'Walking Tank', and the Russians retaliated with the first armoured bipedal unit.. Naval ships grow bigger by the day, and aircraft become faster, deadlier and larger than before. The German forces and Russian forces have clashed more than enough times to create a stalemate across the border, not too far from Moscow. With their dictator evacuated from the Capital and moved further East, the Russians hold for what seems to be a second rendition of Stalingrad, where Moscow stands on the brink of ending in a bloody siege that will drain the life out of both sides.

In a desperate attempt to both test newfound equipment and to cause a distraction across this Eastern Front, known now as the Final Front, the government conscripted those young and possibly considered fit enough to fight of both genders, hoping to create Squad 914, the 'Eksperimental'nyy otryad', experimental squad.

This Roleplay focuses around an alternative outcome to the Second World War where the Fascist European and Imperial Asian nations became dominant. The Third Reich is only faced with a single enemy, the Soviet Union. Whilst Japan has to maintain its gains in both a broken China and the new front on United States soil, the European states face huge odds which clash out for years longer than the war should have. Russia held its ground, and still has, but has been pushed back from its borders, soon to make a stand in Moscow. However, with the war taking longer, newfound technology has shaped the battle to a more...interesting state.

The thread itself takes technological inspiration from things like Wolfenstein, where some gadgets are tested in the field from both sides. As I will explain later, the idea of experimenting with technology in a dieselpunk fashion is important for the roleplayers, as it will play a part for individualising their characters amongst the class system the Roleplay will follow. Now, more specifically, I must talk about the characters in question.

For this Roleplay, each player will take up one, or the option of a few side characters aside, leading role of a sole Russian individual. We focus on a group of individuals, of either gender, brought into the world of conflict via conscription or transfer. Several from the Reserves away from the combat, as well as a majority of fresh faces in the military, are brought together to train and fight for what the Soviet Union call their Black Project. A more informal term would be Squad 914. As previously discussed, this fighting group, whatever their final size, are dependent on the use of experimental warfare and equipment. Their mission, however, is to be eventually dropped into the heart of the Frontier's command zones, where they are told to draw attention away from the front lines to give the main Armed Services the breakthrough they need.

This Roleplay will be split into a few arcs. The only revealed arcs I can give are the Training Arc and the Battle of Moscow Arc. Past that comes the Beyond Arc, where the main objective of these soldiers and misfits will come into play.

For the creation of the characters, there are a few things that need to be taken into consideration. These include: the characters themselves, the classification of the character and the specialised equipment. Firstly, the characters themselves would be looked at. This isn't anything special, just the regular Character Sheet you'd find in any other Roleplay. I do ask, however, for a moderately detailed description for the character, but all of that in particular will be explained and shown in the CS at the end of this section.

As for the classification of the Character, I'd need to introduce the character class system. These decide on the standard equipment and weaponry that they would face, also giving the individuality and abilities they would be trained under. Whilst most of them are given standardised weaponry and set pieces of equipment, primaries and secondaries can be changed depending on the experimental equipment assigned to the character. However, most of the equipment would likely be tertiary equipment, which will not result in the replacement of the standard weaponry. Any questions as to if they wish to change the assigned weaponry. Full-on realism isn't required for the weaponry, though, so some inaccuracies may occur to fit the dieselpunk setting.

These classes will not restrict the characters completely of their abilities in combat, as the physical and mental capabilities of the characters will mostly effect how they act and function both on the frontlines and behind the lines of their enemy. Now, for the Character Sheet. I ask for you to at least get all of the necessary details, which you should be able to identify, down into your CS, but the rest you can customise, decorate and add to with good intention. I intend to allow character relationships to be an important factor in this alternate and dieselpunk historical setting. The relationships between each character will need to be tracked as the Roleplay goes on, making sure that the characters' ability to survive will depend on how they like, love, dislike or hate another comrade.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the roleplay at most. If there are any questions as such regarding the lore, the equipment, the dieselpunk technology or the general roleplay, please feel free to ask me. I may elect or request for a co-GM or two to assist in helping the Roleplay. They will be tasked with suggestions and management assistance, making my busy life a little bit more easier. Either way, I thank you for reading this, and for those interested who have not already stated, get yourself in my radar before any drastic decisions or events happen, just so we can include you. I may be accepting players throughout the Roleplay.
