This was all possible because Snoop Dogg won the election because everyone thought it would be funny to vote for him, and he promptly disbanded the Federal Government and told everyone to do whatever the hell they wanted to. The Americas were completely uninvolved in world politics, so we had to wait like 20 years for WWIII."
Everyone is so interested in the US, we should probably explain just why it's broken up into an "Imperial" New England that elects Emperors like it's the Holy Roman Empire, possibly a Republic that actually seems to keep the trappings of the current USA (From the Interest Check, guy might not come back), and my WIP dictatorship ruled by an almost certainly insane man, and the other upcoming nation(s?).

As I have completely ran out of ideas for the Federation, they are currently be relegated to the sidelines and may end up a NPC @Terminal to keep things going you have full permission to use them for anything related to the totally dead Ennedi and the ERC.
