I do apologize I didn't get the word out yesterday; the OOC has been delayed until tomorrow (today), as long as jiwon and I can get settled on things.
@ArenaSnow

That's what I have in mind, I mean, not using dice. It's not hard to understand your one frigate or 30 pirates versus brig or 50 well trained and well equipped soldiers is a lost fight, so pick your battles wisely, the combat will just be up to rock paper scissors, and you'll know what your enemy pick, since it will be a victory or loss, not by chance. Still, pirates picked on the weak, they didn't go in mass hordes every day against the royal navies

@Skwint@rush99999@Macadamia Hut@Flooby Badoop

I'll make the OOC later today

@Heyitsjiwon

Care to PM me and help me make a character sheet? I'll share my rough draft
@LordZell

I don't plan for this to be a competitive system, but we can't let people have infinite armies and feel like they can do what they want and rule the entire ocean. But do explain your point.
@Heyitsjiwon

Yeah, to include the real New World we have to cut a bunch of personalization out and fill in more historical existence. You can see how letting a bunch of random boat owners push their way into the new world wouldn't work. And that's why it's irrelevant. I'm just asking for research on weapons, ships, and a few other designs. Not asking for people to learn history when trying to play this.
@Heyitsjiwon

No, we're doing early age of piracy, as I said. My own research tells me the New World was discovered and piracy began around the 16th century. Too much competition for new pirates in the golden age.
@Heyitsjiwon

French, Portuguese, and British ships and weapons of the 16th century. Civilian ships of French and British design. As many weapons as you want to research for British, Portuguese, French and Spanish of the same era.

@LordZell

We won't be math heavy, but generally there will be some math. Like if you get in a fight but get away, how effective is your ship if you lost crew members.

@Macadamia Hut

Thanks for the interest!
Interested, I'm curious to see where this goes and how it works out.

SOUND THE ALARM, THE GREAT FLOOBERT HAS RETURNED.
@Heyitsjiwon

I can do GM posts, it's fine. I'll probably only roleplay lightly as I'll dedicate most of my posts to GMing. If you've got the time, care to get some research on 16th century ships and weapons? (Like swords and guns?)
@Heyitsjiwon

Really active oldy, aren't ya jiwon? Yeah, no problem. You interested in cooping GM?
This idea just sparked in my head, and I thought it could be easier than a massive Medieval Kingdom that I am ever so looking for. People enjoy Pirates, right? Well, how about we take the high seas to the next level. Pirates eventually had their lairs, caves on the ocean or on an island where they hid treasure, ships or other valuables. Sometimes they'd make or take over an island fortress... even went as far as ruling an island (or making it lawless). My idea is about a Pirate Captain, voyaging to the New World, early piracy era, and taking what they want before the Colonial giants get their hands on everything. This would not be absolutely historical, as I would make a custom Map. The main enemy(or enemies) would be NPC, as the players are all about being a pirate and ruling how they want. You can become a king or queen in your rule, grab an island or a cave and run back to the ocean and never set foot on land, take over or build a fortress to guard the bit of ocean, or even be a stereotypical pirate, rob from everyone, and bury your treasure somewhere. But I'd like for the group to go in a general direction towards the Pirate Council, when the (late game) Colonial Giants start pushing their Navys in and start screwing things up.

I want a cooperative leadership, I need someone that is knowledgeable on the historical era, the first age of pirates, or just in the area of flintlocks. It would also be nice to have someone who has knowledge on ship battles, ship history, or historic knowledge of the colonial era. This is just an idea, and I would really rather have some assistance in starting this up. I can spare time to make maps and make rules, and make an NPC post, but I can't do extensive research. Anyone willing to learn what is needed for the leadership roles may also apply for the leadership role, but I need serious candidates. Otherwise, players, go ahead and give your ideas and speak your mind on the interest check.

OVERVIEW
< Information >

The World
Set in the early Colonial Era, almost before the plans go under way, early piracy sets in upon the New World. With very little in the way of resources, and only your ship to start your expedition, you will embark on a journey to take over colonial ships, islands, caves, and set up pirate bases in the New World, and rule them how you see fit, or make them a secret to everyone... killing those who attempt to find them. The "world" (allowed playable area) will be a custom map, but large enough to do as you please.

The Characters
This won't be a fantasy game, purely humans - pirates. Whether you are a lady or a lord, a Captain of great reputation, ex-slaves, or treasonist rebels.

The Theme
We will be going for Nation roleplay, where you will lead multiple ships, rule over islands, command fortresses, and possibly rally the other pirates into a grand war against the Royal Navy.

The Style
I like Casual posts with excellent writing skills, which some may see as Advanced. A paragraph is fine, the minimum 3 sentence paragraph is not. Enough detail, and not too much to kill your mood, with proper writing etiquette is all you need. Oh, and your imagination and creativity, of course.

The Highlight
I want the roleplay to grow, from randomly scattered bands of pirates, to working governments, that eventually wage war against the colonial giants. I can foresee the roleplay growing even farther than that, whether its taking the war to the colonial giants homes, or conquering the New World, but we'll have to get this idea off the ground first.
