My sister saw me watching the Co-Optional Podcast and thought I was skyping my friends. How ridiculous! I don't have friends.
“One declares so many things to be a crime, that it is impossible to live without breaking laws.”
The City of Kahrenvel once stood as a glimmering fragment of all which humanity has accomplished. Like so many other of the galaxies sprawling metropolitan worlds, Kahrenvel was a bastion of thriving industry and technological wonders, nestled quietly in the verges of space. The economy boomed, and peace ruled the shining steel streets.
Until the collapse.
Mutants crawled out of pipes and burrows, scampering through the darkness and ripping apart whatever they could sink their claws into. Chaos swept through the planet in a raging inferno, as entire countries melted away into a heap of smouldering wreckage, stricken with the bodies of those who didn’t move fast or shoot quickly enough.
“Necessity is blind until it becomes conscious. Freedom is the consciousness of necessity.”
No one is coming to save us . Kahrenvel rotted away as years, and then centuries flickered by. A rusted husk of scrap and bones was all that remained, drowned in the blood of the countless billions who succumbed to the horrors of the cold necropolis.
Yet, somehow, life endured.
“Every man has a price, or a guy like me couldn’t exist.”
Some burrowed beneath the ground. Some slipped quietly into the burned out carcesses of skyscrapers. Some stitched their fortresses together from the bodies of the dead.
It has been one hundred and eighty years since the fall of civilisation on Kahrenvel. All that remains of the city’s mechanized legacy is the broken shells of long silent factories, and the planet’s name itself.
Technology is a twisted mess of everything from hyper-advanced space age wonders, to primitive barbarism. Some wield muskets, others laser guns. Some drive hover cars, others chariots.
Kahrenvel has become a completely self-sustaining community, cut off from the galaxy around it. A world on fire, content to burn silently in the darkness.
”War can only be abolished through war, and in order to get rid of the gun it is necessary to take up the gun.”
Now, whispers of a long-forgotten legend sweep through the rusted plains of the industrial planet.
Nestled within the ruined country Zavoid, sits the dormant carcass of the Radasian Geothermal Power Plant, a vast leviathan of steel, which once harnessed the very fiery core of Kahrenvel.
The Power Plant lies sleeping at the roof of the world, surrounded by bandits, mutants, and countless unspeakable horrors, but anyone who could triumph over the frozen wastes of Zavoid, and claim the Power Plant as their own, would hold the possibility of planetary domination in their grasp.
The Factions
Name: The Federal Union of Kahrenvel
A loose alliance of several well-developed states, the Federal Union is one of the planet’s largest, and most advanced factions. Situated along the coastal stretches of Liberyu, the Federal Union allegedly prides itself on principles of freedom and democracy, though those who’ve fallen prey to its brutal and expansionist invasions, all in the name of “mannifest destiny” may disagree.
Name: The Social Democratic Labour Party of Kahrenvel (SDLPK)
One of the more technologically and ideologically developed factions, the SDLPK are a new-age communist party, operating out of the ruins of the Gold Cluster; a district of towering skyscrapers and abandoned shopping centers. Over the years, the SDLPK has evolved into a superbly-oiled machine; keeping those who operated under them well-fed and supplied.
Whilst the citizens of the SDLP enjoy a harsh but safe life, those who refuse to align with their philosophy are met with extreme prejudice. The SDLPK see themselves as humanity in its most-developed state, and are more than happy to crush a few hundred skulls if it means furthering the spread of Communism.
Name: The Dominion of Independent Territories
A small empire of hedonism and indulgence, the Dominion of Independent Territories (D.I.T) is a decadent blend of extreme pleasure and sadistic pain. The remnants of thrill-seekers from ages long since passed, the D.I.T are a bloodthirsty band of friends, who serve no master other than their own insatiable desires.
Name: The Screaming Star Cabal
A cult of monstrous death-worshipers, the Screaming Star prowl through the lowest reaches of Kahrenvel, preying on those foolhardy enough to venture through the seemingly abandoned networks of tunnels and passages which run beneath the planet’s metal casing.
Once upon a time they were grave robbers and cutthroats, but in the modern day the Screaming Star has become a syndicate of skilled assassins and ruthless marauders. Their dark practices and gruesome rituals are infamous throughout all of Kahrenvel.
Name: The Mutant Kingdoms
A festering empire of sickly freaks and rotting oddities, the Mutant Kingdoms blight every inch of Kahrenvel; lurking in the shadows and sewers, just out of sight.
The mutants first came to the planet-spanning city after the tragic collapse which plunged Kahrenvel into centuries of chaos. No one is quite sure what spawned the mutants, and those few with knowledge which reaches back that far theorize everything from the detonation of a radiation bomb, to some kind of government experiment gone wrong, to a reactor meltdown.
Most of the planet is far too primitive and basic to understand such complex concepts, and to them the Mutant Kingdoms are simply hellspawn, come to wreak havoc upon all who they set their many eyes upon.
Races
Human
Whilst humans on Kahrenvel once had access to mind-blowing sciences and extensive genetic modification, nowadays the survivors of the collapse pretty much resemble 21st Century Humans. Those lucky enough to live in those few affluent areas which still remain are privy to cybernetic augmentations, and body altering combat drugs.
Sub-Mutant
Not quite human. Not quite mutant. The Sub-mutant walks the line between madness and sanity, their withered body afflicted with the festing signs of mutation and radiation poisoning. Sub-Mutants are usually stronger and faster than humans, but constantly struggle against the cancerous psychosis which splinter their minds.
Mutant
Mutants were once human, but are now morphed and twisted beyond the point of recognition. These disease-ridden monsters come in many shapes and sizes, sometimes being an amalgamation of several different people, mashed together by a cocktail of irradiated infections. Most mutants are dumber than a bag of hammers, but in rare cases they have been known to retain some of their previous intelligence.

Her stay on the Exeralune was most likely meant to be a temporary thing as they relocate her to some other planet on their route, but things will go wrong before that can happen.
Character accepted.
The Horns are part of her flesh-mask, so facially she just looks like a purple human.
Zaiden’s suit is crafted from a highly durable liquid armour, which solidifies upon command, bestowing him with immense ballistic protection. The suit is highly maneuverable, and its hyper-advanced head set grants Zaiden superior night vision, and an on-board communicator.
Powers: Genius Intellect.
Skills: Zaiden is a highly trained marksman, with an expert understanding of multiple firearms. His body is in peak physical condition, and he is an apt swordsman.
Personality: Witty and charming, Zaiden has quite the air of sophistication about him. Beneath his smiley exterior, he is cold and ruthless, with a sadistic side which knows no limits. His primary motivator is a combination of intellectual curiosity, and his own massive ego.
Bio: Zaiden Moore was born to William Moore, the CEO of Eden International; the largest Private Military contractors in the world. By age 6, Zaiden had earned a grade 8 commendation for his mastery of the piano. He graduated high school at age 9, and by 13 he had graduated from Columbia University with a major in English Literature.
Zaiden was hired for a paid internship at Eden International, before being promoted to Chief Technology Officer within a matter of months. The young boy’s intellect was unmatched, and the innovative weapons and armours which he helped developed sold for billions.
Zaiden was 17 when super (or ‘meta) humans became known to the public, and was quick to establish his own subsidiary company of Eden, specialising in anti-Meta Human warfare. The soldiers that the young genius supplied were specially trained in how to apprehend superhuman threats, and were equipped with state-of-the-art technology which allowed them to go toe-to-toe with uniquely gifted individuals.
Whilst Zaiden’s public image was one of abhorrence towards superhumans, he was secretly fascinated with them, and used hidden underground labs to conduct twisted experiments on the superhumans that he captured; trying to figure out what separated them from non-powered humans on a scientific level.
One of the workers in Zaiden’s lab leaked classified files to the public domain, and the young man was quickly arrested amidst a wave of public outrage. His father disowned him, and Zaiden was thrown into a maximum security facility.
It was whilst he was behind bars that Zaiden met Benat Hernandez; leader of the infamous Blood Gulf Cartel. The two orchestrated a mass prison riot together, and assumed control of the facility. From there, Benant led Zaiden back to mexico, where he made him a lieutenant inside the organization. The young man spent his time pulling off massively elaborate schemes, and making huge amounts of cash for the cartel, whilst destroying their competition in the process. Ziaden eventually usurped Bernat, and had him dismembered and hung from a bridge.
Zaiden used his vast wealth to construct several front companies, before establishing Brightwater Technologies, under the alias of ‘John Brightwater’.
Brightwater Technologies became one of the world’s leading manufacturers of domestic, leisurely, and military devices; with a mass of factories sweeping across the globe. Zaiden was quick to buy up Eden International, and begin developing his own private army.
With access to limitless wealth, and a vast horde of trained killers, it was then that Zaiden assumed the identity of Evening Star, and set his mind on a single goal…
World Domination.
The so called “Cracked Halo” terrorist cell committed countless atrocities under Evening Star’s command, until they were eventually overwhelmed by graduates of River City Academy.
In an act of spite, Zaiden established Blackwood School and has set about rebuilding his dark army.
@Kingfisher I just can't stay away from you... I very much like the theme and setting but I'm most curious about what kind of overarching story you have in mind for this.
Also, do you consume virgin blood to keep pumping out these concepts or will any blood sate your hunger?
Quick! Lets run away together.
The dynamic between all the factions should make for an interesting story in itself. I have a rough outline of the plot, which I'll develop upon once peoples characters start to take shake.
Wait...is this an RP where you control a group of characters...or a single character....or a nation....or a separate planet....? I'm confused...
A single character. You have the ability to create a nation, and control a person of importance within it, though. I'll expand upon the game mechanics if this thread generates enough interest.
