Intro

On an evening like any other else, an unassuming couple walked into the Dangeki Cosplay Café, the center of the supernatural activity on Sonomachi City. The couple then revealed that they were couriers of Akane Chikage, one of the oldest and more powerful Youkai known, and that they brought news about what could as well be the end of the world, as we know it.

Hearing of the grave news, the Dangeki staff -led by the vampire maid Shiina Gamai- sent out a distress call fr all the Chasers in the vicinity to gather on the store. And so they did, all kinds of creatures, human Youkai and even some that were not either came to the sweet beverages and pastry shop and just as they gathered a great darkness hit them.

From the shadows emerged no one else than Akane Chikage, who came personally to deliver the news about the impending doomsday, though it was painfully obvious that she was holding back almost as much information as she gave the Chasers. After concluding her speech, Chikage announced that a set of special missions sponsored by Youkai Junction, an administrative body set to help the relationship between humans and Youkai, were placed on the Dangeki's mission board.

Just as the elder Youkai was about to summon her secretary... erm, representative to take care of the situation in her place and leave to do god-knows-what, two new beings arrived. One of them was a mostly harmless, though a bit touchy feely Youkai youngling that was quickly absorbed into the chaos of the Chasers life. However, the other was a being as ancient and almost as powerful as Chikage who was hell-bent on recovering a certain umbrella that Chikage seemed to have stolen from her and leaving just moments after doing it.

As the normal, (if this word can be used to describe anyone who partakes in this life style) Chasers began to take missions and leave the café, they were not still aware that the night would be long and dark.

1 - Don't Keep the Flame Burning [Rank B]

A misterious being known only as the Efreet has been setting fires and burning people alive all through the city, find it and bring it back for questioning.

2 - Rules of Nature [Rank A]

A single werewolf has been causing trouble and all, breaking into meat lockers and other such stuff. No civilian casualties yet, but Chasers that specialize in anti-werewolf operations have been thwarted. Apparently, it’s stronger than most of its kind, and also has none of the weaknesses. Hunt it down before it starts preying on humans.
Reward: 2.500.000 + All the meat you can eat for a whole year

3 - The War Still Rages Within [Rank B]

Immigrants from the European Crimson Sky (orcs and elves) have been causing trouble with one another due to allegations of rape and murder on both sides. Chasers are hired to get to the bottom of this problem. Gotta act fast though, because the elves say they’re going to lay waste to the damned pig orcs in a week if there’s no answers.
Reward: 1.000.000 + A legendary weapon of legendary powers

4 - It Has to Be This Way [Rank A]

A Chaser has gone rogue, killing allies and enemies alike while chanting about some crazy religious-esque gibberish. Find him before he does any more damage, and return him alive.

5 - Collective Consciousness [Rank B]

A rich man is the employer this time around. Half of his harem of cat-fox-wolf girls was kidnapped after a bunch of youkai broke into his mansion. Willing to pay well for their return, but ISN’T willing to pay the ridiculous ransom that those youkai are demanding. Said youkai are a bunch of golemy criminals who won’t hesitate to snap his waifus necks if there’s a frontal attack on the building they’re holed up in. Thus, this is a stealth mission. Don’t fuck up.

6 - Poking the Hornet's Nest [Rank B]

A gang of notorous street racers and general ne'er-do-wells, the Yellow Jackets have been raiding electronics stores and high tech facilities all around the city. Find what they are up to and stop it.

A ghost ship has appeared in the skies at night, a World War II battleship of the Imperial Japanese Navy. Its intentions are unclear, but so far, it hasn’t done anything terribad. Chasers are sent to investigate this, to determine whether or not to blow that thing up.

When night falls, the boundary is pierced...

Summary

Mysterious occurrences have been happening through the city. Rumors tell about queer looking creatures stalking the shadows, people disappearing from the streets during the night, crime syndicates so powerful that the law can't even touch them, corrupt corporations that rule the world from the shadows and much, much more.

The common men dismiss such tales as nothing but urban legends, fabrications of the collective sub-consciousness of all who inhabit this sprawling jungle of concrete and steel.

However, there are few who know the truth that lies beyond the edge of every corner, within the back alleys where the light never shines and above the rooftops where the night wind howls fiercely. These persons are know as Chasers, men and women of every age and path in life that always have at least two things in common.

...and beyond it lies a world bathed in red.

First, they all know that the world is much more than meets the eye, that the supernatural beings wait inside every shadow, waiting to prey on the unwary. And second, somehow everyone of them has seen what lies beyond this world, the other side of reality that is best left unknown to the everyday man, this second world is know as the Crimson Sky.

Plot

Welcome to the world of Chasers: Boundary of the Crimson Sky. This is a world of rooftop jumping action, supernatural beings hunting and eldritch mysteries stalking behind every corner.

Your character is a Chaser. Either a human with supernatural powers/skills that allow them to bring the fight back to the dwellers of the Crimson Sky. Or a member of the supernatural species that are native to said world, collectively referred to as Youkai by the humans.

He, or she, will have to chose between being a lone wolf, or part of a team and chose their own path as they try to investigate what the Crimson Sky is and why it exists as well as what is the Crimson Overrule, an event that is said to change the lives of the beings of both worlds forever if it ever comes to being.

- No Godmoding

- No OOC fighting

- Be reasonable when fighting IC (no auto hitting/ infinite dodging, no killing/ harming someone else's character without their permission and all that)

- Be cordial. Respect other people and you will be treated equally, not and we're will have to ask you to leave, kindly.

- Please respect all of the GMs. We should be the final arbiters of any dispute.

- Follow the Guild's rules for content/language. Take any improper material to PMs, please.

- Keep your IC posts at a minimum length of one paragraph and please try to write as well as you can. We know that English is not everyone's main language, but that's no excuse to being negligent.

- Although there is no posting order, please do not spam post. Wait at least until two people have gone before you before posting again.

- If you're going to leave for an extended period of time, or drop the RP, please let us know. We might be become a little sad because of it but we will respect your choice, but leaving without prior notice causes unneeded distress for all the other players.

- Everyone will be allowed a maximum of 2 characters.

Sonomachi City - Old Downtown Alleyways

Lightning cracked on the dark and twisting paths of the alleys that crept behind the old buildings of Sonomachi's downtown, creating a maze that only a few knew how to navigate through.

Nevertheless, the beasts that were running down said alleys didn't need to know where they were going, all that was occupying their minds was getting away from the predator that sought to end their lifes before they could sink their teeth in more of that delicious electricity from power cables that are everywhere.

Not too further behind the beasts, an angelic looking girl run over the rooves, jumping between them with agility and strength that no normal human could ever hope to match. To her sides, a couple of drones hovered, matching her movements and pacing to clockwork perfection "Onee-sama, I have found them. It seems to be a whole pack this time." the girl said in a deadpan voice, talking to her Onee-sama who wasn't too far away from there.

"That's good Eos. Process with caution." The voice was calm, even in the chaotic winds that buffeted the night air. A woman stood upon the ledge right above the angelic girl, a crimson scarf covering the lower half of her face with crossed arms. She wasn't there a moment ago, but speed and experience had made her appearance possible even now.

"Well Eos, how do you think we should proceed?"

"Leave that to me, Onee-sama." Eos said before jumping to the next building and moving her arm in a slashing motion "Altair, Vega! Pattern number 4." Eos ordered her drones to begin the attack, with a crossfire pattern that would halt the Raijuu on their tracks.

"Onee-sama, it's you turn now!" Eos shouted to the woman hanging above her.

"Must you be so enthusiastic on these simple hunts?"

Nevertheless, the scarfed woman had a smirk on her visage as she leapt down to join directly into the fray. As the Raijuu were momentarily stunned by Eos' attack, the woman summoned a single knife and struck without mercy or regret. She was a blur, crimson blood joining the red mix upon her scarf as she spun around in a graceful embrace of death and destruction.

Twirling the single knife in hand, the woman's red eyes took in the carnage with a cold outlook. Simple Youkai such as there were nothing for her. In all likelihood, this was only an excuse to see how much her younger companion had grown in the field of combat.

Eos observed carefully how Shiina fought the Raijuu. Eos had been studying her Onee-sama for as much time as she had been with her but still couldn't hope to match Shiina's deadlyness in short range combat. At the most, Eos was able to fend off most attackers, though she had a new trick up her sleeve, literally, today. Though this wasn't the best time to test new tactics, so Eos decided to stick to the basics "Pattern number 1, Rapid fire." she said as two more drones were summoned into the world and together with her main two shower the area around Shiina with lasers, never getting any close to her.

As the numbers of the Raijuu began to wane rapidly, the beasts resorted to their last ditch move and pooled together their bodies, combining into a single massive Youkai. "RRRR!" The, now monstrous, beast's roar shook the very air around Shiina and the vampire maid would be able to feel the static ruffling her clothes and hair, undoing her precisely done visual. Not that it was her biggest problem, though, since a massive lighting was about to hit her over head right now.

Though if the massive display of energy and power was supposed to faze the vampire maid, she didn't show it. Even as her clothes and hair were ruffled, Shiina still managed to stand with a poise and grace only achieved through centuries of existence. Leaping back from the bolt of electricity aimed her way, she landed beside Eos and stood at ease with crossed arms.

"Well Eos? What do you propose we do now?" she asked, looking at the young Chaser with expectance.

Eos stopped for a moment, thousands upon thousands of scenarios ran through her processors in a fraction of the time that it would take for a person to count from one to two . After she was more or less sure of a course of action Eos said "The best way to take it down would be with a combination attack, Onee-sama. I'll open a path and you take out his core. Though..." Eos paused and pointed to her right, were the tracks of an electric powered train were exposed "If it feeds on the power of those cables there's a 87% chance that the situation will get out of control."

"Understood," was all that Shiina said before speeding off. With her knife held at her side, she dodged the bolts hurled at her way, sliding and dashing as the onslaught grew more and more violent. She waited patiently for Eos to open up the pathway, the vampiric maid running up the side of the Youkai's arm and leaping off, ready to strike as soon as Eos gave the word.

As Shiina charged in, Eos dropped to the ground bellow and summoned 4 more drones, to a total of 8, now. This was very close to her maximum output under normal conditions, so Eos was readying a big attack this time "Pattern number 2, Obliteration." she said with a cold voice. Not even a second later, her drones pooled in their lasers into a single convergent beam, that shot right through the Great Raijuu's body, leaving a straight path for Shiina's finishing move. The taste of ozone hang out on the ionized air and the heat of the blast was such that a couple of trash bins caught fire just from standing too close to the path of Eos' laser.

As Eos' laser burned away the fair majority of the Youkai, Shiina held up her singular knife. Her crimson eyes narrowed, waiting for the right moment when...there! Just as the creature's flesh was beginning to regenerate, she caught sight of its core. With a fluid motion, she hurled the blade into the small opening, the knife making contact and shattering the core instantly.

Landing on her feet, Shiina was by the other Chaser's side near instantly, picking Eos up bridal style as she leapt away onto the rooftops. She shifted a little to accomodate the other girl's greater weight, but only slightly. One glance back was all that she needed to know. A good fifty feet away out to do the trick.

"Time to go," she told the robot, even as the Youkai's body began to become unstable, a last snarl being heard as it collapsed on itself.

A moment later, Eos observed as the Great Raijuu's body began to quiver and shake more violently, until it errupted in an enormous blast of lightning and thunder that rumbled the old alleys. Though, it's consequences were little to none, since this part of the city is abandoned.

"Fine, Onee-sama..." Eos said, crossing her arms behind Shiina's neck to ease the burden that she was placing on the vampire's back. As she was being carried away, Eos pondered if this would be a situation were humans would be feeling something called bashfulness and if she should be blushing, if she knew how to do it.

After this, they returned to their home and base, the Dangeki Cosplay Café, already knowing that tonight was going to be a specially busy one.

A few hours later...

A couple walked through the streets of the City's downtown, already bathed in red hues by the early evening. After a little while, they stopped in front of a neat looking building, the words [Dangeki Cosplay Café Club] were written in a charming signboard that hang out from it's eave.

"Is this the place?" The girl asked the man.

The Girl

"Yes, it's. Dangeki Cosplay Café Club, on the outside it might look like just one more place for the otaku creeps who live on this city gather around, but in truth it's a Hunters' Association independent joint, run by a number of Chasers, both human and Liner Youkai." The man answered in a matter of fact way as he dropped his cigarette on the ground and stepped on it.

The Man

"Yeah, whatever you say, old man. We're just here to do our job anyway, though I think that the real creep here is you." The girl said right before pushing the shop's door open. As expected there were no customers inside at this hour and the staff was either doing small jobs or just slacking around, not that the girl cared for it, by any means.

"Moshi Moshi! Is miss Shiina Gamai somewhere around here? We got a message from Akane Chikage of the Red Cloud Music Store for her." The girl said as she made her way to the counter and sat on one of the fancy looking chairs. "Also, I'd like a café au lait and a strawberry shortcake, please."

"Are you seriously going to stop to eat, we're the middle of work. Do you understand that?" The man said, slightly irritated.

"Yeah, what can I do if I'm hungry? I'm a developing girl you know, my body needs plenty of energy to grow in the proper way." The girl said, ignoring the man. "Plus the smell of this place is just delicious" The girl said as she waited for her order.

"I'll handle it."

In a blur, the girl's desired treats were present in front of her. During normal working hours, such work accuracy wouldn't be so easily seen due to the amount of human customers that visited at that time. But under the cover of darkness, the perfect and elegant maid known only as Shiina Gamai was able to exude her powers a bit more freely. It certianly made late night helpings all the more easier.

"Is there anything else I can assist you with young Mistress?" she asked with a polite tone and neutral expression. "If I may inquire about your message perhaps?"

"She told us to warn you about something bad on the other side. She wasn't too specific, however, she just said that it was like the calm before a storm and that you would know it." The girl said before digging in her treats.

The vampire Youkai allowed a frown to cross her face before simply nodding in acceptance. A message like that from the Soul Stone buyer did not bode well for anyone. It was enough to give Shiina reason to believe that a number of Chasers would have to become involved in this particular case.

"Please inform her then to contact any Chasers near her area and direct them towards the cafe."

"There' more, actually." The man said as the girl was occupied eating. "Miss Chikage also told us to tell you that you should begin by investigating the biker gang know as Yellow Jackets. They are unusually active these last few weeks and their leader, Suzumebachi seem to know of something."

To this, Shiina raised an eye. The Yellow Jackets? Gangs and grouplings of Youkai causing trouble weren't unheard of but the Chasers had usually dealt with the problem before they became any sort of relevant threat to the human world.

"Understood," she said to the main, as diligent as ever. "Before I forget, would you like something yourself, young Master? Some refreshements?"

"I'm alright, I'm not like those cre..." The man began talking before the girl elbowed him in the gut.

"Look at her yes, you idiot. If you value your life don't finish that sentence." The girl said as she motioned her partner to look at Shiina's eyes. The vampire maid was furious for almost being called a creep,though it was kept concealed for the sake of appearance, but the man was too oblivious to notice.

"Aside from the delicate comments from our friend here, I take it that this is all you have to discuss with me young Mistress? Allow me to call forth our allies then," the maid said with a graceful bow before speeding off to the back of the cafe.

Hidden from the eyes of commonfolk was a wide assortment of rooms and other goodies reserved for the Chasers. But for now, Shiina dashed over to installed PA system and began to play a pre-recorded set of sounds. Only the trained ears of a Chaser could distinguish the noise from the regular dronings of the night atmosphere. Done with her task, the vampiric maid moved back to her position at the front counter.

Now it was time to wait for the others.
