No offense intended. But there's a sweet spot on the sliding scale of realism, and most of the interest checks I usually see skew too far to the realism end for me.

Can't describe how quickly I go from excited to sad when a mecha premise turns out to be realism wankery.

The British mage slipped out of the limelight as quietly as possible, but disguising the glee in her eyes was next to impossible. She was trying very hard to keep professional, but it was getting harder and harder. She just needed to slip into the background nice and quick. One step at a time. Calm expression, calm expression...

Aaaaand muffled sound of glee the second she thought she was out of obvious view. Still quiet, but if you were within a foot or two, you couldn't miss it. Or the discreet psuedo-fist pump of victory. All casually, as if simply part of a stretch. She kept the grin mostly contained, and went back to looking (mostly) composed as soon as she cleared her throat. Using two Face cards had been pretty draining, but definitely worth it. She didn't do much to hide the deep breath, get her breathing good and under control, or even bother hiding what she said quietly to herself. It was in English, no one was going to understand her.

"Well, that wasn't so bad. Not too bad for self taught. "Standards are a little odd, though."

The other mage approaching managed to catch her a little off guard, though. Too caught up in her little bout of glee. Hadn't missed any more exams yet, thankfully. Time to refocus. She shook the other mage's hand and switched back to Japanese, giving a faint, polite smile. "Rebekah Cross. Good to meet you, Sakamoto Haruka."
I should hope not. I don't need to get shorter.
CAN WE STOP MAKING FUN OF MY AGE?!

Benjamin Lloyd (BASL Dorm)

"Look, Lor," Ben paused a second, as if reflecting on what he'd done. Thinking about what he had said. No, no that didn't work. Bad nickname. Back to the drawing board for everyone except Amy. He still had no idea what nickname to derive from 'Sangue', and 'Lorena' wasn't much better. Lauren was more casual, but no shorter. And BASL's leader was off track now. He shook his head once, refocusing and fishing another energy drink out of his nightstand. "Lauren."

"We're not going to find anywhere for that on campus. If we're going with that plan, we'll have to hop an airship to Vale." He glanced at the time on his scroll. "They run pretty much 'round the clock. We can make the next one if we want. Can run the few errands we have to do. Pick up some more painkillers. Get food. I don't think we've done a team burger run yet."

are we done listening to how things were back in your day, gramps

In all seriousness, Who, that sucks. And it's perfectly understandable that you wanted to take a little time before you came back to things. Welcome back.
Go with the trick that everyone ever in Bleach seems to have where you can walk and run in midair.
I made my objection without realizing that there was only one Freshman slot left. I don't know why I thought there were more, but I think I remembered some people being inactive that hadn't been put on the chopping block yet.

I know it doesn't change much, but I retract my objections to there being a fifth member of a team under these circumstances. I'd rather not see Awesome or Write, who both have fairly well cemented characters, have to give them up. I would be perfectly fine with allowing a fifth member of a team under these circumstances, maybe with the intent to transfer that member to another team if/when a slot opens up.

That doesn't change much, and it comes off as rather hypocritical of me. But an in-story reason could be concocted quite easily to permit one of the two temporarily being assigned to a five-man team.

Honestly, I feel bad for starting this fuss when it hadn't even really been approved yet, and means either Bianca or Trad will have to be dropped.

I missed all of you too :)

I just want to say I'm sorry for disappearing. My wife lost her job a while back and I had to take up another and well I didn't really have any free time. I should have said something but I kept thinking I'd be able to come back sooner than later.

Luckily shes got one now and everything has retunred to normal. So, with Lugs permission, Trad will be returning to beacon (though probably on another team.)

Completely understandable, man. Real life happens. Wasn't just you, either, everyone but Nara (myself included) was MIA for a while. Just glad to have you back, even if you won't be able to come back to BASL.

awesome we missed you man

I'm not saying you should disallow others from the conversation, all I am saying is that filling up the OOC with your opinion on the matter and my opinion and anyone else's, should happen when there is a GM present who can actually make a decision, as it is there's to make.

This is absolutely true. And now that it's been brought up, I'm perfectly content to let anyone who wants to chime in do so, and Lugu to maintain or modify his decision as he sees fit.

All I would like to see, honestly, is some consistency with whichever path is taken.
I agree, Harine. That's the very standpoint I usually take. I think my objection here is just that we should decide. Are we going to stick to the four-member teams, or start making five-member teams when there's an IC reason.

Either way, I personally feel we should be consistent.
