@Prince of Seraphs Not accompany. Receive. At her palace in winter. Someone has to go with through her lands, or how can they report that it reached her properly? I'm sure the fey might say that it never reached its destination -- and certainly that would be true if they had it deliberately diverted.

If it were a one time delivery that might be cause for concern but this is an established exchange that had been going for a very long time. Were Arys to claim that the food never made it and demand her goods back it would put unnecessary strain on future negotiations and since Winter has cut itself off from Summer that would leave it with only Fall to supply anything that Winter cannot generate itself. Politically speaking it would be a bad move for too little reward.

The more logical thing would be to have some proof that the exchange on the border took place. Say the exchange of a token or some such. Once this exchange is finished and there is proof that it took place it is the responsibility of the ruler of the Court the goods are passing through to make sure the goods arrive safe. That way if bandits attack the convoy after the exchange has been made Winter cannot blame Spring for the loss of goods. Likewise if Spring's goods are stolen they cannot blame Winter. It takes some of the political tension away and limits the rulers from pulling something over on the other. If Sini were to accompany the convoy into Winter lands and it was attacked or Arys arranged for it to be robbed the Winter Queen could blame the loss on Sini's incompetence and demand the food be replaced or her own goods returned.
@Prince of Seraphs Is there any reason to send a message for her with it? And I think it'd be up to Belle if she's around or not.

It's a simple delivery, an exchange of goods. One of those everyday Court kinds of things that a ruler doesn't need to attend to personally. I suppose if Belle wanted to Arys could accompany the convoy but really the only thing that would accomplish would be to put her in harms way for no apparent purpose. She has servants for a reason. Think of it this way. If the convoy was important enough for Arys to personally accompany it to ensure it reaches its destination why then would Nyx not be joining the Spring side of it as well?

It is possible for Nyx to send a message for Arys with the convoy but the most logical thing to do in that case as well would be for Sini to relay the message to the goblins who would then give it to Arys.
@Prince of Seraphs I think Sini would accompany it back -- after all, Spring has a duty to see that it's delivered safely, and ensure that it actually reaches the Winter Queen, and return word to Nyx. I see no reason why a single guard or even a small squad -- such as Sini commands -- might not be permitted. @Belle would need to verify, though.

Yes he would send a small guard along with the convoy and if you wish Sini to accompany it I don't have a problem with that. Simply put though Sini wouldn't run across Arys by accompanying the convoy.
@Prince of Seraphs *kicks at you* No response to my suggestion for a reason to get Sini where she can interact with Arys?

I was under the impression that Arys wasn't accompanying the convoy personally and instead sending some goblins and trolls to pick up the goods. Sini could go with the convoy if she wanted but I suspect they would make there hand off at the Spring/Winter border and then return to their respective palaces. Sini likely wouldn't even get into the Winter Court let alone get to interact with Arys.
Once they found her, speaking to Raven, the one carrying Lyra spoke. "The child saw the executed hobgoblin in the great hall. Forgive us, we did not know to stop her from going there."

@SunsetRoses if you could clarify for me. I didn't think Are killed the Hobgoblin. I thought she constructed a cage something like this:

For him and he accidentally cut himself on one of the spikes. I don't think it would make sense to have him executed so suddenly. After all the jewels he stole from the Summer King weren't on his person and one would think Feoras would want them returned.

@SunsetRoses
I love that Lyra's adorableness has gotten a baddass like Arethusa protective and loving towards her!! I foresee many cute bonding moments in the future!

Nyx is so going to kidnap her.
A house.

After all, a bounty is a life, and lives are lived in houses, thus a house is of equal value to a life.

And thus the problem with a barter economy as while that might have some value to certain people it would mean pretty much nothing more than what she could sell it for as my character is a wanderer and generally hated by everyone.

The value of an item is subjective, the value of cash is not.
@Prince of Seraphs <3 YOU READ THE LORE! *squees* You make my little writer's heart flutter, you do. First a story for a constellation became actually based on historical canon, and now my pixie/sprite feud?! *facecling*

Constellation?

I think Sini might have a taught wariness and perhaps a bias against Raven and her kind, but she wouldn't be rude. It'd be interesting to play with that.

Pretty much everyone has a bias against the Tuatha, they are the Japanese people in America during WWII. Or the Muslims after the Twin Towers. No one wants them around and everyone suspects they are planning something. Though when you keep an entire species on the fringes of society, living on scraps and being immortal still usually not living past a thousand the idea that they would be planning some form of retribution isn't all that far fetched.

@Prince of Seraphs As for currency. They don't. They barter. Promises, services, goods. Its all bartering.

A barter economy is notoriously unstable being better suited to smaller regions such as small populated areas without a large unified government where the using money would cause more of a hassle than any problems it might solve. In large organized centers a common form of currency is much more stable as it unifies prices and cuts down on civil unrest over exchanges, among other things. It makes sense for trades among the rulers as they are only four people with distinctive and often unique resources at their command so they'd likely be bartering with them even if there was a currency system but for the day to day stuff bartering isn't all that stable. Even in the early days of the New World before they had adopted a currency system everything was measured by the value of the Beaver pelt. A beaver pelt bought these many of this type of item, this many otter pelts were equal to one beaver pelt and so forth. With a barter system the value of things becomes worryingly subjective for Kingdoms that are trying to remain unified. But if that's the way you want to play it go for it I guess.

I believe earlier when we were bugging you too much about specifics you said you couldn't be bothered to tell us the prices for peas in the Winter Court. With this being the function of currency and all that might actually be something we need to know. Not peas specifically but a measurement of how much things are worth versus other items and what can buy what. In a barter system there would obviously be some wiggle room in there but a general guideline would be helpful as from a political standpoint running a Kingdom on a barter system without defined lines of value on items can cause much bigger problems for the rulers than simply creating a currency of some sort.

It's like you said. They can but they prefer to use technicalities to mislead. It's more... amusing, and if you make a habit of lying do people trust you? If you make a habit of telling half truths and misleads then while they may not fully trust you, they do know you speak on somthing that IS true. But what? Falk-?

I changed it from the initial way due to this being much more... Open.

So fae can lie now?
How the hell did a barter economy survive long enough that there was a centralized state utilizing it while instituting a bounty system?

Barter economies are horribly inefficient.

But to put it simply: whatever the hell the monarch wants to give the hunter. He's the big boss, after all.

It evolved by virtue of a GM who doesn't listen to anyone else's opinion and summons up a shit storm when anyone but him answers basic questions (like how many characters are in the roleplay) to possible applicants.

I would fight him on it but honestly this is one of a long list of things that only sort of make sense in the roleplay and he can't seem to explain adequately but won't change anyways.

I ask because my character just delivered a fugitive and I'm fairly positive the guy playing the ruler is about six hours away from asking what he should be rewarding me with since there is no money. (Six hours being around when he will be getting up)

Also while I'm typing this I'm hearing my post in the voice of the Honest Trailers guy.
Hey really weird question. In a world in which a kingdom does not have a monetary currency and everything is paid for with barter or favors what exactly would a monarch give a bounty hunter for bringing in a fugitive?
Seriously though, that thing takes out tanks. Tanks! How did Oswald survive that?
