"If you kill a man, you scorn his wife. If you kill his wife, you scorn her child. If you kill her child, you scorn his village. If you kill his village, you scorn the kingdom. If you kill the kingdom you scorn an empire. If you kill an empire, then who is left?"

After @importantnobody posts I'll post. Since Melon subjected me to his ditsy barmaid.
<Snipped quote by Negatomsk>

You still need to ask permission to actually have a fight, it's basically a standard Arena rule. Otherwise high tiers just wouldn't be allowed in, as they could waltz around murdering lower tiers of a whim.

@Negatomsk
Yeah literally this, if you just show up and are like: "Fight me."

And are way above their tier, they don't stand much chance.

Also I apologize for offending you.
@Enki
You didn't pay a lick of attention :V

I meant the big bar brawl that's about to go down.
@Starfall
Don't believe it all you want, I'm done arguing y'know.
@Starfall
No, I'm really not.

This is the exact same backwards logic that censors everything.

"I'm offended."

"What do I do to make you not offended?"

"Change it."

And so they do, they remove it or doll it up to look pretty. They block out opinions, they hide their thoughts and shelter everyone because our feelings are more important than our freedom.

This kind of argument that escalates into a much bigger problem is my least favorite kind of argument. Because while it sticks to the central concept for the majority of it, it moves like a conversation. It travels topics eventually and I don't dance with that concept very well.

It generally leads to me getting angrier and angrier, and as someone who's pretty emotionally stunted I only enjoy Anger when I get satisfaction afterwards.

Which doesn't happen in arguments where the opposing agent refuses to back down, so I ain't enjoying being frustrated right now.

The topic at hand is that I called something Edgy.

And supposedly, I offended someone.

I have been shown no proof that anyone is offended, and I have been told that I'm childish for having an opinion.

This argument is moot until further evidence is provided.
@Starfall
I'm not insulted by the sentence, it takes more than name calling to set me off. What has set me off is your point of view.

And it is an apt correction, seeing as you did the exact same thing. Removing the context, that is. Of the statement itself being an obvious fucking joke.

The fact that you're fighting me so hard about this is pretty much where I'm drawing the line on caring whether or not I offend people.

Wanna know the truth?

My rights don't end where your feelings begin.

Because the sovereign right of every sentient lifeform in the known universe is the right to have an opinion, and the right to voice that opinion. No matter what the crowds say, no matter how many guns are held to your head, it is your right to speak your mind.

Whether serious or in jest, it doesn't matter. Your right as a living breathing thing is to speak your mind.

It's my opinion, I'll voice my opinion.

And I don't care who it offends, because it's my right to have that opinion.

I'll apologize for offending your friend, if I really did. Because I still have no proof that I did, only word of mouth from someone trying to infringe on my sovereign rights.

But I won't apologize for voicing my opinion.
@Starfall
You tried explaining why my opinion was wrong.* To correct you.

And like I said.

If he comes and tells me that he is personally offended by my opinion, I will apologize.

But right now, all I'm seeing is you arguing with me about why my rights end where your feelings begin.

Which doesn't jive by me.

Ya dig?
@Starfall
The only one being childish is the one arguing on behalf of someone else, telling me someone else's opinions without the other person's commentary. You're giving me no indication that this is actually their point of view, because they aren't here.

You're telling me that I'm offending them, telling me that this is their opinion.

Yet at no point in time have I seen that this is their opinion.

Your only argument that withholds is that I'm putting my own opinion over their comfort. But I haven't SEEN any discomfort.

I haven't SEEN them being offended.

What I have seen is my perspective of their character being classified as rude and "childish" by someone who refuses to refute my central point.

What I have seen is my patience running thin with this argument, and I'm about to reach the point where I state my true opinions on the matter.

And worst of all, what I have seen is Ad Hominem with your direct attempt at calling me childish for having an opinion that differs from yours.
@Starfall
Okay, but you're arguing on his behalf. I'm not arguing with him, I'm arguing with you.

When he comes and tells me that he is offended, I will apologize.

But until then, I stand by my point of view.
@Starfall
He's the Co-GM, kind of a phantom Co-GM. I forgot to add him and the thought occurred to me right now since I'm talking with him. He's really the voice of reason for me, since he's way more level headed than I am.

I'm trying to not make this argument petty, since the whole ordeal is dumb as sin to me personally.

Since I'm vehemently against: "Your rights end where my feelings begin."

So I'm going out of my way to be polite, but it's 3:30 in the morning and I'm hopped up on so much caffeine that I can feel my heartbeat in my toes, it's kind of hard not to be rude.

[Deep Inhale]

I get what you're saying.

But being offended by being called something is childish at best. A word, a name, an idea shouldn't insult anyone. At the core of vocabulary is meaning and second to that is perception. Perception of meaning varies from person to person, and to play with the absurdist scenario you've created, let's say you're not just a cat. You're a hyena.

A Hyena is a feline, everyone who's ever studied animal biology knows this.

But to someone who doesn't study animal biology?
It looks like a dog.
It barks like a dog.
It acts like a dog.

To those who aren't as inclined towards background knowledge and only have a surface level knowledge of an object? Perception is all you have.

The saying goes: "Don't judge a book by it's cover."

But as a human being, we are inclined by our very nature to judge based on somethings cover.

We only get one chance to make a first impression.

The character sheet is the first impression for me, and to me it covers every single field into which I would categorize a character as edgy.

This isn't an insult, and being insulted by it means that you're going out of your way to be insulted by it.
