Yeah, what I can say is...
I have absolutely no idea! I've gotten this question before, but it's a weird phenomenon if it's happening on old pages. Could be a glitch with how the site calculates viewers, could be scrapers, could be a number of things.

I could see that being useful, with a “don’t show me this again” checkbox.
