Rebecca looked up from her book glancing over at Jun, "Oh this? It is a study of Gigginox and Zamtrios breeding cycles, not my own sadly but perhaps on this island I will be able to observe some of these blood sucking monsters in action. I do find the early stages of their lives to be vastly interesting." She looked back at the page briefly and tilted her head slightly. "Here it says there have been instances where Gigginox lay eggs on themselves, and some people think they might lay eggs in live prey and let the babies hatch inside the victim. Positively ghastly."
Jack just watched as all the hunters just dispersed, before he could say anything Henry pat him on the back and pointed at the map. "Look it's just here see." Henry point to the parts of the map that Berillius had showing Jack the planned course. After that Jack decided he would go off to bed.
Simon sat atop his pot and dished out food for everyone, giving Luna, Trove and Tyrin a healthy helping of soup. It was a fish based soup as they'ed been living off a lot of fish for the most part of the journey. He was now just toddling over towards Tyrin and Trove with a serve of soup for himself.
Fillie had already downed two bowls of soup and was working on her third when she noticed Luna. Fillie'd not introduced herself yet so she decided now was as good a time as any. "Hiya hunter! I've not had the pleasure of introducing myself to you yet! The name's Fillie Averist, I look forward to working with you!" Fillie was positively beaming, like a kut-ku that'd just found a Konchu den.
Yurel
Sauron remained quiet as the herd of lumbering behemoths charged off into the distance before turning to respond to Yurel. "No we'll leave them be, going after them would be suicide." Sauron looked in the direction the herd had come from as he came out from behind cover. "A herd like that would have surely caused a panic back where they came from, and panicked prey is easy prey. But we must move quickly, panicked prey also goes into hiding."
Sauron would then take off in the direction the Duramboros herd had come from, some of the huge footprints had actually turned up the ground and dug up some bugs, a testament to the power and weight of powerful herbivores. Scrap was still shaking a little still curled up behind the rock he'd chosen to hide behind.
Ten
It seemed like the coast was clear thought the sound in the distance was still getting closer, in fact it was getting closer quite quickly. It sounded like a sort of scraping or sliding against the snow covered ground. Then all of a sudden the sound of clattering claws could be heard coming from where Ten had hidden just before, the Giaprey had returned, and now that they had their smell masked by the wind. Ten would hear the cries of the Giaprey as the caught her cent and had no doubt spotted her now, and the situation was only going to get worse with the ever approaching sound continued to creep closer.
Swiper
As Swiper reached the top of the steep slope of the waterfall he'd find himself a nice big wyvern's nest, but with the nest came a nice big Pink Rathian! Thankfully the protective queen lay asleep, her snoring managing to overpower the sounds of the waterfall. Unfortunatly while the Rathain was asleep and hand't been alerted to Swiper's presence it was fast asleep right on top of the nest, if Swiper was going to get one of her delicious eggs he would have to take one from underneath her.
Diana couldn't help but overhead Bisque speaking about blocking optical things, it was fairly easy to put two and two together. And while the proposition of being able to look at people dead on without them getting frightened was an appetizing one. But as much as she was interested she would save her questions for later, now she needed to rest, the pain in her arm was really starting to piss her off.
Diana managed to get a good amount of sleep on the ship though waking up to a sore neck and arm left her in a particularly poor mood. At least they were at the medical center now and she'd be able to get her arm into a brace. As they got off the ship they were greeted by some staff, and Yoki being the tough-guy that he is tried to wave them off. Diana was more than happy to witness Eve kick his ass into the medical. Though Eve felt it reasonable to make sure that Diana wasn't going to try and be a tough-guy. "Don't worry, I'm well aware that I require medical attention. I don't have a secret affection for pain." Diana walked off with the medical center staff, I wonder how Marlin is faring.
Hogan lay there on the ground very much pleased to have his body back onto solid ground, though it was obvious that the people about were not as happy. The fear on their face was unmistakable, though one fellow seemed to have the audacity to not only call Hogan a thing but also to say he needed to leave. This whelp didn't know how lucky he was that Arthur was there. Hogan let out a soft hissing as Arthur attempted to talk the man down. Hogan welcomed the pat on the back though he did keep his eyes on the stranger.
“Here, take a look. Hogan, do you want to be friends with this gentleman?”
Hogan slowly closed his mouth and nodded. It hurt Hogan almost visibly for him to be so nice to this interloper, but alas Hogan was on the job and needed to behave. Even if he really wanted to lunge at this troglodyte just to make him soil himself.
“And are you dangerous in any way?”
Hogan took a moment to glare at Arthur before rolling his eyes and shaking his head from side to side. God all this head moving wasn't helping his carsickness.
“And are you here for the licensed, professional animal show beginning in half an hour?”
Hogan again nodded, letting his head drop to the floor after a couple of nods. Hogan didn't like what might come of Arthur's little lie, if Hogan actually found him self in a position where he had to perform tricks... He better get a substantial reward. The thought itself was enough to make Hogan grumble a little, but he didn't expect the humans to know what it meant. To them all things seemed to sound the same.
Aya very much didn't appreciate the spit from Skull nor his condescending words. "Thank you f-for the criticism. I'd not quite gotten enough of that y-yet." She honestly wanted to flip the dude off, but she lacked the energy. That and she felt this psycho fuck would just put a bullet in her head, and she quite liked having a brain.
Aya slid down behind some cover when she heard Verd call out her name. He was different. At least from the other time she'd seen him, he was far less bouncy and excitable. Perhaps that's just how he copped with the stress of combat? "N-no, I don't carry a weapon." Aya cringed as a sharp stab of pain ran through her, her body reminding her of how badly she was wounded. "Unless... You count a syringe as aaa, a weapon." Aya slowly tipped her medical bag onto the floor next to her, a few small needles and a scalpel rolling out onto the floor.
”Why is it always fucking Mariah Carey” Visage thought as her drink finally arrived. She could almost smell the water in the Jack Daniels. Disgusting. If the contact she had come to meet actually showed up, it’d do good to inform them why they should never visit this bar again. Despite her internal anger, she drank her shitty drink and waited in the shitty bar, for a hopefully less than shitty Mire to show up. Mariah Carey continued to play over the static ridden speakers regardless of Visage’s lack of effort.
Madison toddled into the bar and looked around, she wasn’t quite sure what this “Visage” girl looked like but they’d organized to meet at the bar itself as to save time. And aside from a few lonely gentlemen there was a bouncy woman. So this was the person offering her work, Madison could do much worse that was for sure. But Madison wasn’t here for a pretty face she was here for a job and it was time to see what this woman had to offer, so Madison made her way over and took a seat next to Visage. ”Hello!” Madison said in a chipper tone.
Turning slowly, Visage looked at Mire with a questioning, and then understanding gaze. ”Hello. I’m guessing you’re Mire. It must’ve been hard to find me, with us being the only ladies here and all that.” She flourished her hand. There were other woman present, and Visage was definitely trying to insult them. ”Do you wanna stay here, or walk and talk?” Genuinely. Visage didn’t seem to have a preference.
”I vote walk and talk! Then we can talk about,” Madison would lean in and whisper. ”All the fun stuff.” Madison slid off her seat taking a moment to look Visage up and down before shooting her a hand. ”Also call me Madison, actually no call me Maddy. Maddy sounds better for sure.”
Standing up, Visage pushed away the drink with the slightest bit of disgust. Turning away right before Madison offered the handshake, she started leading the way out of the bar. ”I prefer Maddy as well.” She said, pushing out the door, and holding it open for Maddy. She scanned the street out of habit, but it was dead, midday not drawing many people to this shitty neighborhood.
Maddy tilted her head as Visage walked off seemingly ignoring the handshake offer. Maddy frowned and followed after her hand still extended for a handshake, she was getting a handshake one way or another. She continued to hold her hand extended to Visage looking between her hand and Visage. ”Shake?”
Right before Maddy spoke up Visage saw her hand out of the corner of her eye. She obliged, giving a firm handshake. Strange girl. Locking eyes, Visage set a node. She scanned her own appearance using her power. A purple beanie sat on top of her head, her hair completely obscured by it with stylish, thin rimmed glasses resting on her nose.
The beanie was helping to hide the fact that she was wearing a blonde wig, which was the only hair peeking out of her beanie. There was a dark blue cardigan resting on her shoulders, with a white tanktop underneath, and a gym bag over her left shoulder. Tight jeans hugged her legs, with slip-on sneakers completing the outfit. She had almost no makeup on, clearly trying to go for a more naturalistic look.
The mental review was over. She looked nonthreatening, not straddling the border of dangerous like Visage did. Still, she was meeting as Visage, and so half of that metaphorical mask still hung from her identity in front of Maddy.
”You want work then, money of course, but what else? Because in my experience it's never just the money.” Back to business, she started walking, making sure to fall back a bit after they started so that they walked side by side. Equals for now.
”Well I just need money, I mean sure you can steal stuff but like. Money is just super useful for getting things, like the internet and stuff. You know how boring it is living on the stree-” Maddy froze for a moment raising a finger and screwing up her face as if in a moment of intense concentration. ”You wouldn’t happen to have accommodation with access to the internet, pay TV and current gen video game consoles would you?” Maddy quickly lowered her hand and gave Visage a rather intense stare.
Normally collected Visage was at a bit of a loss. She looked Maddy across again. How young was she? A breath escaped her lips as she actually thought up an answer. Honestly what was requested wasn't that big of a deal to organize. Visage waved her hand, trying to signal that the request would be easy to organize. Internally she thought the desperate are the best employees. The words she spoke didn't quite match that sentiment though. ”That all can be arranged as a-a signing bonus. I still need to know if you're the right fit for the company, Maddy, darling”
She held out her hand a bit, signalling that they should turn into an alley. It was empty, barely more than a sideways dumpster in length, which was proven by just that interrupting the straight path. Two closed and locked doors led into the alley from adjacent buildings. It terminated at another building, with broken glass scattered around the dumpster’s right side. The smell wasn't as bad as one might expect.
”Show me what you can do?” it was in that sweet spot between question and command.
Maddy nodded to Visage and walked a few feet away, making sure that she had enough room. She took a deep breath getting herself ready (not that she needed to but hey, why not put on a little show?) she then rolled both her shoulders. ”Alright. Prepare to be amazed! Actually wait a second. What kind of work am I going to be doing? Like I’m not going to be shifting boxes or any shit like that right?”
”I-I don't know what your power is. Show me? Unless it's not flashy I guess.” Visage seemed exasperated. Maddy was definitely not on the same wavelength as Visage here.
”Fine fine fine, Jeez.” Maddy grumbled, taking off her bag and gently placing it on the ground. Then with what looked like a puff of smoke Maddy shifted into her breaker form her body dispersing into a thick black mist with massive bright white spheres in place of her eyes. The thick mist condensed down into a pitch black body much like a silhouette. She was still leaking smoke from almost all of her body, the cloud quickly blanketing her.
Obviously this wouldn’t be enough to prove anything to Visage, so Mire morphed one of her arms into a massive spike, then thrusted her weaponized appendage into the dumpster punching a hole in its side. ”So? What do you think?” Mire’s arm slowly morphed back to a normal human shape before she shifted back to human form, all the mist that once surrounded her collapsing in on itself and condensing back into flesh. ”Oh also I can make you trip mad balls with the mist that comes off me.” Maddy then glanced back at the perforated dumpster. ”That might’ve been a bit loud, maybe we should walk again yeah?”
A bit dazed, Visage nodded, visibly impressed. Even if the first part was the entire power she would’ve been very happy, but it also had a lot of danger to it. The whole “I can make you trip mad balls” part didn’t register until they had removed themselves from the premises. Once they were a couple blocks away, she managed to compose herself, and consider the power fully. Visage didn’t speak, she just kept considering the different possibilities.
The first idea that really stood out to her was keeping Mire in the shadows so to speak, make it seem like it was all Visage’s power after a second trigger. That was a wonderful look, that could even be enhanced by her own power.
Another option was to dress Maddy in inverse colors, and then turn herself into white mist when Maddy turned in to black mist. A beautiful display, but one that would take some work. With enough ‘twins’ running around, it might even throw the PRT onto the scent of a duplicator. There was always the fallback aesthetic of just having her be another high powered chess piece. Not a pawn to throw away, but a queen to trade with effectively in the end game.
Lost in her own thoughts, she kept walking with Maddy, not speaking at all.
Maddy walked alongside Visage noticing the girl was in deep thought, Maddy tilted her head and decided to get another good look at her possible new boss. Maddy was actual a decent amount shorter that Visage, though she’d come to expect being the shortest person around in most cases. While Maddy looked up at Visage she notice how well equipped she was, without a moment of hesitation Maddy extended out a hand and poked the side of Visage’s bust. ”Oh fuck those are real!” Maddy said untiling her head and looking back up at Visage.
The first thought that crossed Visage’s mind was why is she touching me?, with the second being stay diplomatic. You might have to teach her how to act how you’d like, but this. . . horrifying monster is vulnerable. She forced a laugh that at least sounded genuine, brushing her hands over her body from hips to torso. ”Believe it or not, this isn’t.” She said, bringing her hands the rest of the way to point at her hair.
Visage removed the beanie and wig, letting her striking dark red hair fall down. She opened the gym bag, putting the headwear in there, as well as the glasses. She drew a thick= white jacket from the bag before removing her cardigan and placing it inside, Putting on the jacket, she finished with a flourish, tossing her hair up a bit.
”Ta-dah.”
”Oh shit would you look at that. You’re a master of disguise! That’s pretty cool.” Maddy sped up so she could walk in front of Visage and get a batter look at her face, Visage was cute for sure there was no question about that. The red hair was also stunning, Maddy hadn’t gotten the chance to see many red heads. All things considered though this might not actually be the real Visage’s look, for all Maddy knew this could be another disguise though honestly it didn’t bother her.
”Oh before I forget! Now that you’ve seen what I can do, what’s the job you’re offering me?” Maddy shifted back to walking besides Visage, she wasn’t super fussed with the job at this point, Visage was interesting and Maddy wanted some more time to get to know her. Who knows, it could be fun.
”Obviously this isn’t the kind of job you can put on a portfolio. You’re going to be working for the Rockers under my command, and honestly more important than the actual work you do, will be postering. I want you to present yourself in a certain way. First things first we should get you a hot meal, a hot shower, and a warm place to sleep.”
Visage maintained periodic eye contact throughout to drive certain points home, and a warm smile crept across her face during the last sentence.
”And of course the pay will be exceptionally generous.”
Maddy was kind of touched by what Visage was saying, though it also kind of reminded her of a motherly figure, needless to say she wasn’t fond of remembering her mother. Maddy hid her feelings behind a smile. ”It’s had to refuse an offer like that! Lead the way boss.” Maddy felt her eyes drift back to Visages equipment again though she quickly shook her head and focused on the thought of a warm meal, god she’d gotten so sick of shitty takeaway foods or leftover scraps.
Aya simply listened to the conversation going on between the fellow villains, interestingly the Shielder had been wronged by UA an interesting fact if anything. Though Aya couldn't say she was proud of what she'd done, she honestly didn't think that the students would be put off from their hero loving ways. But this would at the very least be a hit to their confidence in the dependability of heroes, even in a drawn out fight like what had just happened they were left alone to face off against the villains. She counted that as a success at least, damage the confidence of the next generation and make it prone to collapse.
While Aya had lost a lot of blood she was able to continue back towards the vans, though she could still hear the sound of gunfire as the cops were obviously still fighting white skull and his lackeys. God I was so careless, guess I deserve these wounds then... Aya wasn't pleased with the amount she'd screwed up on this mission. She was supposed to be the medic and yet she'd gotten herself into a state where she'd not be able to treat herself let alone anyone else.
Berillius nodded as his plan to take the river seemed to be accepted for the most part, though it looked like some of the hunters weren't getting along. So Berillius decided to interject before things got a chance to escalate. "Alright then! Down river it is, good stuff! Jack did you catch all that!?" Jack nodded before gesturing for Berilluis to come take the wheel for a moment. "Let me just come have a look at the map. Can you take the wheel for a moment?" Berillius nodded quickly responding to Luna "I suggest we stay in a group, safety in numbers after all." he quickly jogged over and took the wheel from Jack, "I can take us in if you want, you've been up longer than I have and I think you should get some sleep." "I'll think about it, thanks for the offer." Jack said with a smile before promptly heading over to the map to look at the coarse he'd be taking the boat, he then spoke in a hushed tone hoping Berillius wouldn't hear him. "Ah did one of you hunters catch where Berillius wants us to go?" Jack said with a sheepish look on his face, obviously he'd not actually been paying that much attention to what Berillius was saying.
"Well if all that's decided I'm going back to bed. It's too dam early to be awake!" Clara stomped off back to her cabin, closing her door with a fair amount of force.
Meanwhile everyone else decided that they might as well say awake for now. The smell of Simon's cooking was a pretty good incentive to stay awake. Rebecca opened up a book to read and took a seat on one of the many chairs surrounding the large table the map was on, she'd be set up on the opposite side to the map as she wanted some space. Fillie had taken a seat on the serving table that sat next to the massive pot Simon was cooking at. Henry took a seat next to the map, as he continued looking it over silently.
Harris took to the side of the ship and looked out at the approaching island, obviously taken back by the beauty of it all. He shook his head and muttered to himself "Can't believe that's going to be my new home."
Yurel
Sauron looked around rearing up to get a slightly higher vantage point as he scanned the immediate area. "All depends on what we come across. I doubt any Aptanoth will be nearby, so whatever it is probably won't be as easy a me--, get down." Sauron quickly crouched down behind a nearby patch of bushes. There was a pinkish shape in the distance that was rapidly coming closer, the ground quickly started to shake as the shape spread into many different shapes. Though all the shapes had one thing in common, they were very large. It was clearly a heard of Rust Duramboros, they weren't spooked by the looks though there are few thing that can actually spook a heard of Duramboros, it was more than likely they were looking for the next patch of trees to eat.
Scarp let out a slight squeak of fear and darted behind a small rock, curling up on the floor as to make sure he was fully concealed. "Oh man oh man!" There would be plenty of cover around, with many different rocks to hide behind. The herd veered to the left about forty meters from where the three Jaggi would be held up, the ground trembling under the weight of so many animals.
Ten
The Giaprey were tearing away at the corpse happily consuming the succulent flesh. The Giadrom however was staying alert, looking around for the slightest hint of movement. It looked almost exactly in Tens direction for a time, tilting it's head before letting out a cry and slowly walking off. It's pack mates soon followed and their scents started to get weaker as the left, while the smell of the Popo carcass remained strong. A slight sound also made itself known behind Ten, though whatever it was, it was very far away.
Swiper
The swamp seemed to be quite a good choice, being very calm compared to the Diablos skirmish. The swamp was fairly empty except for a few grazing Apceros and a couple of toads. This part of the swamp was mostly just light mud and ferns with a couple of rocky outcrops off in the distance. The Apceros were currently not bothered with Swiper's presence though the aggressive herbivores were not to be ignored. There was also a slight slope to the right which was where the water was coming down from, though the slope was rather steep so it was impossible to see what was at the top from Swiper's current position.
Aya gritted her teeth when the shielder covered up her wounds. "I assure you t-... That I wasn't trying to get Slash... Slashed..." Aya was honestly too beaten to get angry at the shielder's tone, and the man had just saved his ass from a profane and angry wolf child. "How are your wounds holding up? I-I can't work on the right now, but wh-when I recover... My hands wouldn't be that sssteady." While she spoke she bombarded Morri's muscles with her power forcing them to tense. They would eventually start to tear slightly as if Morri had been doing hardcore training for hours straight. Hopefully that would keep him down for a while.
"For now you. You are right... Let's g-get back to the trucks." Aya said this as she carefully got off of Morri and started slowly heading back to the trucks. Though she would keep an eye on Morri just in case, the boy had shown himself to be a tenacious foe indeed.
Berillius nodded as the hunters threw in their votes. "Hmm that still leaves us fairly divided..." He rubbed his chin as he looked down at the map. He traced one of his fingers along the many rivers and such, trying to find a spot that would hopefully please all the hunters. Since they were approaching from the south of the island the tundra was on the exact opposite side of the island, and going all the way around would be a huge waste of time. Not to mention a risk because of the nasty monsters that lurk in cold waters.
"Alright I got it. You see this point here," he said pointing at a section where the tundra, swamp and jungle met. "We can head there via this river." Berillius then ran his finger along a large river that started where the swamp and jungle met at the south coast of the island, his finger slowly tracing the huge river up stream, the thing actually lead all the way back into the jungle again so they'd not have to worry about any poison ponds when they got off the boat. "See how this river can take us almost the whole way through the island to the meeting of the ecosystems. Instead of us having to go around the entire island, and risk the freezing tundra waters. What do you hunters think?"
Yurel
Scrap ran alongside Yurel as the pair of them ran towards the feeding frenzy. Scrap tilted his head at Yurel "Well personally I don't like extra crunchy bits. I'm pretty sure there are a fair few who don't like crunchy bits." But before they could get to the carcass Sauron let out a bellow. He stood far from the body, obviously he'd not taken any of the bounty for himself. Scrap stopped firmly in place. The Aptanoth had already been stripped of most of it's meat, and there were still many more grumbling stomachs.
"Alright everyone I'll need a new pair of escorts for the next hunt." Sauron's gaze drifted over his normal escorts Calek and Torak, it seemed that they exhausted from the previous hunt. Then he slowly turned his head to Yurel and Scrap, the pair stood out because they were standing rather far away from everyone else. "Scrap, Yurel. With me."
"Yes sir!" Scrap exclaimed, obediently running after Sauron. Sauron hadn't waited for either of them and would have already started heading out of the network of dens and nests that the pack inhabited.
Ten
The sent would grow stronger identifying itself as a freshly killed Popo, the smell becoming more potent as it's killer began ripping the corpse apart. The sent would lead Ten on a fairly long walk about fifteen hundred meters north, leading towards the coast. The oceans breeze would make the sent even more pungent as she got closer. It would also identify the scent of the predator, or more accurately predators. A pack of about 3 Giaprey accompanied by a Giadrome. The area had a good amount of cover, many crags of ice jutting from the ground, the sounds of the Giaprey eating and talking to one another giving Ten a decent enough picture of the surroundings.
She wouldn't be able to scare them off, while she'd have been able to fight a single Giaprey and come out on top. Their numbers made combat a death sentence. Though she did have one advantage, being that she was downwind, the ocean breeze masking her scent from the Giaprey. So she had stealth on her side. Perhaps she could trick the Giaprey or try waiting it out. Though a smell as yummy as a dead Popo would for sure attract some big players.
Swiper
Swiper would easily be able to distinguish the irritating sounds of combat as a pair of Diablos fighting for territory. It sounded like it was only just getting started. But as Swiper headed the opposite direction the sounds got quieter and quieter until tranquility had been restored. As for options on where to next, he had a few. There was a tight looking cave that seemed like it might have some proper shiny rocks inside it, though further in the distance to the left of the cave was the the start of a muddy swamp. There could be a herbivore nest set up somewhere in there, all the plants made it a great nest location. But with mud came things like Barroth and other filthy mud lovers. To the right of the cave was what looked to be the start to a labyrinth of rocky mountain paths, a place that seemed to be popular with flying wyverns and other bird wyverns like himself.
Appearance: Anastasia’s lightly tanned skin gives her an exotic look when paired with her smooth skin. She gives off a feel of innocence and youth (though the innocence part couldn’t be further from the truth), her eyes always looking off into space as she thinks, like a child looking to the sky. Ana’s head is covered in a thick mess of charcoal black hair left to drape over her shoulders and back, Ana never really got into the swing of taming her mane but at least she cleans it now.
As for the rest of Ana, she has a slim but very lean build, being on the taller side standing at 5’11. On first glance she doesn’t look that impressive, you’d not notice the muscle she’s packing until she flexed or exerted herself. She does have an energy about her, like she’s always ready to go. As for clothes Ana likes it simple, flat colour shirts and jeans are her go to clothing when going out, though at home you’ll catch her in tracksuit pants and comfy tops.
Onto Anastasia’s costume. She again wanted it to be something simple, but still something that could stand out on it’s own. A black lambskin leather jumpsuit was chosen, it’s form fitting sleekness and shiny texture managing to stand up while being simple. As for her head she wears a bright yellow motorcycle helmets with cat ears. And to finish things off a upside down black S under the left ear.
History:
Alone in the dirt
Torn rags for clothes and cold stale bread for food, this was how Anastasia had to start out her life. Being a child left on the street to fend for herself, with nothing but a blanket and box to her name. Though it wasn’t like she could use these things being just a few weeks old, if not for the homeless she would have died. But they couldn’t bring her up to the standards society would accept.
Anastasia wasn’t a healthy child, making it to the age of 1 by some kind of miracle. This was around the time Scion appeared, though Anastasia was far too young to be concerned with something like that.
Making ends meet
The next few years were surprisingly less rough. She was still never healthy, but she retained the boundless energy all toddlers seem to possess. This made her fellow street rats smile, the sight of a child playing is always a happy one, even if you live on sunflower seeds and stale bread.
By the age of 5 Ana was already learning how to be a thief. And she got good at it, while not making insane wealths of money from it she was able to taste fresh bread and lemonade for the first time. Though a full time job as a thief at the age of 7 was quite stressful and she quickly grew to dislike it, people telling her to go out and steal even when she was tired. It didn’t take long for her to start traveling alone. Though she’d still leave money out for those who raised her, she knew she owed them.
A kind soul
Anastasia had been scraping along for 2 years now. Using the skills she’d learned to survive on the streets, though with heroes being a thing now she needed to be a little more vigilant. The last thing she wanted was to be locked up and get told off for what she did. She didn’t steal because it was fun - she did it because she needed to.
Ana was on her usual route, lots of well off people hung around this area. Money being wasted on trivial things they really didn’t need. Though this trip was anything but usual. This time she found herself confronted by a girl Ellie, this girl wasn’t even much older than her yet she had this aura of maturity. And the pair hit it off, becoming close friends. It had hardly been a week when Ellie invited her to live with her. Ana had no idea what to say, but she wasn’t going to refuse an offer like this. She’d waited so long for something like this, she still couldn’t believe it.
Anastasia and Ellie went from friends to family within a month, Ellie even made Ana a little gem necklace to commemorate the occasion. Nothing could split this pair apart, well nothing except for Ellie’s tinkering time, Ana knew better than to bother Ellie while she was working.
Behemoth
Ana was profoundly pleased with her new sister, and for the majority of the three years they had been together she’d felt happy. Then Behemoth came. Anastasia was twelve at the time and the fear this creature brought was sure to fuel her nightmares. The magnitude of the destruction and the horrifying amount of lives lost was almost unheard of. Though while Ana was shaken by these events she noticed a…change in her sister. Something about this tragedy had made Ellie more confident, more mature, more… Awesome!
My sister the hero
She’d done it. Ellie had actually gone and become a superhero, Ana was just so shocked that her big sister went out and fought crime! How cool was that!? All those hours in the workshop had finally paid off for Ellie and Ana couldn’t have been more happy for her big sister. In fact Anastasia wouldn’t stop pestering L about all her adventures out in the city. She even asked to come along, given that she’d lived on the streets for 7 years she knew her way around.
Ellie obviously refused Ana’s offers. It was far too dangerous for Ana to go out with L, what if some punks tried to beat them up? Ana wouldn’t know how to defend herself using the many gadgets L did. Well at least that was the argument Ellie persuaded Ana with, and while she didn’t like being told what to do, she knew her sister knew what was best.
Lost and found
Where is she?... I know some nights she comes home late... I shook my head, Ellie was fine I was overreacting she would back soon. Everything would be fine. A sigh escaped my lips as I rubbed my necklace trying futility to calm myself, ”No.” I stood up fists clenched. This wasn’t right she was out there somewhere and she was in trouble while all I’m doing is sitting here on my ass worrying about it, I have to go look for her.
I quickly threw on a hoodie and slipped out of the house making sure to tuck a spare key under the doormat, sure it’s not the best place to hide it but I’m not going to be gone that long. I know this city like the back of my hand, finding Ellie won’t take me long at all.
If she’s anywhere it would be around here, this was the shadiest part of town and I can’t imagine anywhere but the worst would keep my sister out this long. Ellie would’ve called home if she was in the hospital so she had to still be out here somewhere. Check the alleys first, that’s where the scum lurk.
I rounded the corner slowly only peeking down the alleyway, it was empty. I let out a sigh of relief that I didn’t even know I was holding, I hadn’t even noticed how tight my chest was I. I was afraid. I’d been so caught up with the worry for my sister I’d neglected to think on my own safety. But that didn’t matter now; I was out here to find my sister and that’s what I was going to do.
Then I felt myself forced to the ground, a pressure squeezing the back of my neck keeping me held down to the ground. I took in a breath and went to scream, but before I could muster a sound a heavy boot found its way into my side; knocking the wind out of me and flipping me onto my back. My ribs throbbed as the very same boot placed itself firmly onto my chest and stopped me from getting to my feet, the hard sole digging into my sternum. The daunting figure loomed over me a man from the looks of it, but the glare from the street light made his face impossible to see. I struck his leg with my arms struggling to get his foot off me; it was clear my strikes could be felt, but whatever pain they brought wasn’t enough to get the man off her.
I was wheezing and grunting as I tried to gather enough air into my lungs so I could cry out for help, but as if the man had sensed my plan he pulled back his fist and sent a punch right into my face. Dazed and winded I felt myself being dragged further into the alleyway by the scruff, the man’s fat fingers making sure I wouldn’t be able to get away. I had no time to think, I had to strike now while he still thought I was too weak to move. I lurched my head forward and bit onto the man’s hand sinking my teeth in as hard as I could.
“Gah fuck! You stupid little bitch!” The man roared and threw against a wall, my back slamming against the hard bricks with enough force to rattle my bones. I slumped against the cold wall as the mugger came and rammed his fist into my face again, I felt my jaw crack as my face hit the pavement. Too dazed to try and resist anymore I felt hands diving through my jacket pockets looking for anything of of value. I could hear him growl as his search yielded him nothing, then a hand came into view. It had a bit of blood coming off it from where I’d bitten it, I heard a few grumbled curses as the hand came for my neck. I was dead. He was going to choke me to death, he was. No. No!
The muggers filthy hand wrapped itself around my necklace, the one item I have that means something to me. And he’s going to take it! I wanted to scream, I wanted to attack, but my body wasn’t listening to me. I could only watch as this barbarian ripped my necklace off, the thing Ellie made for me to welcome me into her family… I didn’t get long to lament it’s loss as the brute delivered a kick to my stomach, my body curling up around his foot. I endured a few more frenzied kicks before the mugger was done with me, “Fucking cow!” A glob of spit crashed into my cheek as the man turned away and ran off down deeper into alley disappearing into the darkness. Out of all the things the thug had just done to me, the kicks punches and insults. Nothing hurt as much as seeing the first thing I’d even been given by my sister, the item that embodied the beginning of our sisterhood. Taken to be sold off for some quick cash, buy some thug who didn’t know it’s worth. I don’t to find Ellie anymore, telling her that I lost the necklace I… I don’t know if I can do that...
Super sisters
Life was very different now.. Though her sister helped her through the hard initial transition. And Ellie, being the practical person she was, decided that Ana could help her out with crime fighting now. At least that’s what Ana would tell you, in actuality she spent a few days nagging at her sister about it. Thus the mighty duo was born! Fister and Crafter!
And they were a great team, quickly kicking a considerable amount of ass. Ana actually kinda enjoyed helping her sister fight crime. I mean how could she not enjoy it? She loved the stories L told her about how she beat bad guys and helped clean the streets. But now she got to live the stories alongside her sister. Ana didn’t have that hint of worry hearing of her sister fighting thugs, because now she stood with her to make sure it was all ok. These were probably the greatest years of Ana’s childhood.
Wards? Alright...
Elle stood in the middle of her workshop with a determined look on her face and her hands on her hips. Beside her was a whiteboard she normally used for complex formulas but today was wiped clean and was being used for faster communication.
I want us to join the Wards. She'd written it after literally dragging Ana from the couch.
Ana sat on the couch and looked between the board and Elle, tilting her head slightly as she slowly read the writing. "The wards! Are you kidding me!? This is a joke right?" Ana knew this wasn't a joke letting out a groan before Elle could start writing on the board. "Yeah, no thank you. Last thing we need is a bunch of adults telling us what to do."
Elle waved her arm in irritation, a frequent gesture she used in place of words to indicate her displeasure.
We get paid. Benefits. Support. I get all the parts I want. They're doing real good, A, and not struggling.
She paused before adding to it.
I want this.
She frowned.
I want need this.
"Even if they did give us money and parts and things, it's not like we'd be allowed to use it how we want or anything. They're a bunch of softies L. They'll breath down our necks while we try and do our thing. We don't need em." Ana met Elle's frown with her own, crossing her arms to further show her adamancy.
Elle stomped her foot as pouted at her sister.
I don't think either of us wants a repeat of the night before you triggered. They can help. They can't stop me from tinkering anyways. Tinkers are valuable. Eventually someone's going to just take me, A.
Ana's shoulders slumped at the mention of that night. "C-come on... You didn't have to mention that..." Ana's arms fell apart slowly and she gritted her teeth. "Wait no! You can't guilt me into this! That was before I was able to protect you! If someone comes for you, now they gotta get through me! We're good as we are now!" Ana's top lip trembled as she though back on how beaten her sister had been... Never again.
You can't protect me from everyone. And with that monster attacking....I want to help, A. And I can't like this. We're not doing enough! We need to do more. We need to the sentence trailed off as she stared at the board.
Ana bit her lip as she read the stuff being written on the board. O-of coarse she'd not be able to protect Ellie from that thing, Ana didn't think anything could defend someone from those things if they had their sights on something... "B-but we're doing plenty! W-we're the super sisters!" Ana's voice was a little shaky at this point. Ana at this point knew Elle was right, as she always was…
It's not enough.
Elle turned around, her face serious, as she changed to signing. Everyday there's more villains. More threats. Together we're stronger. So together with others we're even more strong.
Ana's head hung low now though she kept her eyes on L so she could see her signs. "I... But... How do I know they'll treat you properly..." Ana felt herself fidget as she thought of people not treating her sister well, the brief thoughts re-kindling a fire in her. "No I can't I just can't!"
Ana stood up and looked at Ellie's serious expression and furrowed her brow. The air was tense for a moment, but Ana wasn't able to keep herself together. Letting out a final sigh she slumped over in defeat. "Gah fine... You win, we'll join the stinking wards..."
Elle bounced across the room with a mixture of smugness and relief.
Great! We have a meeting tomorrow, then! she signed before pulling Ana into a hug.
Ana just stood there and accepted the hug, grumbling to herself as slowly returned Ellie's hug. "Guess I better have a shower then, be nice and clean for-... Wait a second." Ana tightened her hug turning it into more of a grapple. "You already had this planned didn't you!" Ana raised L off the ground and slowly walked her over towards the couch, glaring up at her sister.
Elle just grinned, sticking her tongue out in defiance as she tried to squirm her way free.
Ana growled as L poked out her tongue and raised her a little higher. "Now you're going to get it!" Ana yelled before tossing L into the couch pillows.
Missing sis
Two years the sisters had been Manifold and Charm, the Ward siblings. And Ana had loved every moment of it, but all things have to end at some point. And by order of the protectorate, Ellie was to graduate from the wards under a new hero name, Manifold. While Ana had to sit back and stay as Charm for the next two years until she could graduate.
It goes without saying that Ana was not a fan of this. She was meant to be there to help her sister. That’s how it had always been. It’s how it was meant to be. But it wasn’t how it was going to be. Ana was going to have to work separately from her big sis, while they sometimes she did get paired up, those times were fairly uncommon. While Ana still got to see Ellie when they were both not on the job, things just felt a little different now that they weren’t cleaning the streets together. Now all she had to look forward to was her martial arts training, she was used to being alone in those, but it still didn’t feel the same.
Graduation
Finally! It was time to graduate! Time to be the dynamic duo! The power pair! The super sisters, once again! It was good to be back with Ellie, though Ana wouldn’t admit it. Something about them working together just felt right. Ana decided to keep the name Charm, much to the annoyance of her sister.
And while it was good to be back with her sis, Ana couldn’t help but notice the abundance of cute boys. Some of which had costumes that left very little to the imagination. And hey, some of the girls weren’t half bad either. Ana was going to enjoy chatting some of theses people up, even if it was just to get on her sisters nerves.

”That’s mine, don’t you touch it.”
Derangement: Ana’s derangement makes her get overly attached to things, mostly material things, like say her motorcycle for example. While this attachment doesn’t happen often when it does happen it happens hard. Unless you’re someone she trusts greatly she’ll not take kindly to you being near the things she attaches herself to, very quickly getting angry if you damage or dirty said cherished object, to the point where she will get violent.
Parahumanism
Skills: Ana has a few things she’s skilled at, firstly is her insane skills on a motorcycle, tearing it up on the streets is one of her favorite things to do after all. Ana’s fearless nature leads to some pretty ridiculous motorcycle acrobatics, think stuff like sliding under trucks.
Ana has Black belt in Judo. Her reason for picking Judo is so she can restrain people using her enhanced strength, and the myriad of throws, grapples and pins of Judo are perfectly suited to that.
Ana also got herself a yellow belt in Aikido because it also focus’ on restraining an opponent while also protecting them from harm. Using defensive moves along with holds and joint locks.
Ana decided to learn a little bit of Taekwondo just in case she needed to apply a little more brute force to her attacks, though this may not happen often she prefers to be prepared for such an event.
She has impressive sleight of hand skills having picked them up when she was out on the streets. It was one of the things that helped her survive. Though she can’t pickpocket as well as she used to due to her enhanced strength and completely numb body. Though things like swapping cups and card tricks are child's play for her, quite literally in some cases.
Ana also learned sign language so she could help translate for her sister when she goes silent. Though Ana doesn't always translate exactly what L is saying, just because it's fun to piss off her sister.
Classification: Striker | Brute
Details: Ana has the ability to anchor herself to an object and turn it into a voodoo doll of sorts, and this doll grants her strengthening abilities based on how close she is to the object 0m minimum range - 100m maximum range. She can assign an anchor through touch and may only have one anchor at a time.
First of all her body mimics the condition of the item she’s linked herself with so if the item is undamaged her body will regenerate until it is also undamaged, the rate at which she regenerates speeds up the closer she is to the object, letting her recover from a broken arm in about 30 seconds when she’s in direct contact with her anchor.
Along with the healing Ana also gains more strength when she’s around her anchor able to lift 10 tonnes when in direct contact with her anchor. This strength also allows Ana to run at speeds up to 55 mph.
Finally Ana gains immense durability the closer she is to her anchor, this helps her tank hits from things like explosions or car crashes, mostly blunt trauma things.
Limitations:
All of Ana’s power drastically weakens when she’s away from her anchor slowly decreasing to only slightly above the average human when past the maximum distance, additionally if you damage her anchor you damage her as well with a wound that cannot be healed until she unasigns or reassigns a new anchor. While she is very resistant to blunt attacks piercing weapons like bullets still bypass her defences, slashing attacks work too just not as well as piercing ones.
Equipment: Anastasia’s equipment is designed to accommodate her and is made to sustain a large amount of damage. This said her equipment isn’t cheap to produce, like her custom designed Motorcycle helmet. This helmet comes with a built in communication device and some cute cat ears on the top. Ana also has an earpiece in case her helmet gets destroyed.
Now a helmet wouldn’t be much good without a bike to go with it. Ana has a few rules when it comes to her bike, and all of them involve pain for you if you touch it. Her bike is probably the only piece of equipment she tries to keep in one piece, and not because it’s expensive. She still gives her poor bike many scratches and dents, but she makes sure to fix up her beautiful motorcycle.
Courtesy of her sister L, Ana has augments in her wrists that coat her forearms and fists in fire. It’s mostly just used for intimidation, of just to be the most badass bitch in town.
