Once upon a time, I used to cheer for May the 4th... now I cry with disappointment. *Except Clone Wars S7 and the Mandalorian - they are awesome*
@Sanity43217 This is a prime example of how mechs ought to be at the beginning of Arc 1. They were designed originally for human conflicts, only to be suddenly drafted into kaiju activity.
Will note - this RP does take place right when the Great Awakening happens. So any kaiju it would've combated had to be restrained in an outpost or a rogue beast that happened to wake up "early" and those mechs were the only things utilized. I'll imagine that one of those are the case and so I will be linent with it so as long as you reference how they would be in combat with one during their first trial mission.
But other then that, I see no further issues. Just add that and you should be good to go.
@RedVII I'm guessing he's the mech guy you were talking about before? Although like we discussed, that whole mech thing will come later - but as he stands he looks good!
@Sanity43217 We definitely need some pilots and other army men on the battlefield.
Is it possible to shed some more history on the CONDOR - as well as its height? I know I mentioned that mechs are to be limited, but your's could be a cool first step in said direction. I could allow it in this arc, however I'll need some more history on it and how TERRA would come to make it.
If it helps the concept, I could have him start out in a dying/weakened state, with his nuclear heart weakened and unable to generate a lot of power.
I also had a concept for him to have a humanoid form, perhaps he begins that way and is eventually able to restore his full dragon form? I think it would fit in with the "last of his kind" narrative I'm shooting for. As a "human" he'd be less nuclear devestation, and more weird space magic. I think it would be funny for something roughly human-sized to go toe to toe with the big monsters.
Up to you.
Ehhhhh... I dunno. Show me what you got and I'll give the final determination on whether or not he's good or not.
"Players are allowed to utilize any of the unknown (vacant) spots to have their monster in if they so wish, as well as make new ones." "More outposts will be added at a later date."
SENATOR NOLAN ARVIS: Terran Supporter - Backer of NICHOLAS MATEO
COL. MULLIGAN STRAKKER: American Secret Intelligence Officer [Defected]
Lmpkio's Characters N' Monsters
Name: | "Titanus horus" | "Horus" | "The Crimson Eclipse" | "The Red Devil" | "Pharaoh/King/God of the Skies" |
Appearance: Enwrapped in a dark crimson hue, Horus' body plan heavily resembles that of a pterosaur - more specifically compared to those within the Azhdarchidae family (ex: Quetzalcoatlus, Hatzygopteryx, Arambourgiania, etc). His massive, yet slender, beak is sleek in design and curved slightly downwards to accommodate for its carrion and pescatarian life style. It even sports a trio of teeth-like tusks on his lower jaw, ensuring that none escape its maw as they fall into his large pouch.
It's body shape, along with the shape of size of his osteoderms, makes Horus look as if he has a hunched over when on land. His crimson skin also varies in different hues, being more dark on the top and lighter at the bottom. Even his eyes are blood-red in color. Horus also sports three winged fore-claws on his wings, with the middle claw being nearly as big as his largest rib bone. It is theorized that it is utilized in combat with other creatures or utilized when hunting large megafauna. His three tail "spikes" are tipped in a venomous yellow, however no evidence of venom glands have been identified within. Possible function is either to attract mates or ward off foes by fooling them as if he is indeed venomous.
A blackened scar can be seen on the creature's left eye, left there by an unknown monster that it engaged in brutal combat.
Size: 85 Meters Tall | 300 Meter Wingspan
First Appearance: Egypt - Found and contained within Outpost 44, located near Mount Sinai.
Abilities:
Flight: Horus' massive wings allow him to fly at sonic speeds, capable of leveling entire city blocks just by flying over them.
Hardened Skin: Horus' back is covered in a row of hard, sleek, osteoderms, which protect his backside from incoming attacks. They could even protect him from beam blasts from other titans.
Stealth: Like a B-2 stealth bomber, Horus' dark-crimson skin is anti-reflective, making him incredibly hard to see when flying overhead at night. This also tricks with radar as they have difficulty detecting the presence of the creature.
Heat Ray: Horus' can fire a beam of highly-concentrated plasma towards his opponent.
Sonic Thunderclap: Horus' has been identified utilizing his massive wings to issue a thunderous clap, sending in a violent hurricane-force wind that could disrupt foundations and stun other monsters.
Weaknesses:
Unprotected Underbelly: Horus' armor is only prominent on the top of his body - ranging from the tip of his beak to the tip of his sharpened tail. Even the top portion of his wings are armored to an extent! However, its underbelly lacks this armor to allow it to move efficiently and issue evasive maneuvers on the dime. While average military equipment is still rendered useless when engaging the underside, more powerful weapons should be able to wound the creature if weapons target said vulnerable spot.
Air-Freak: Horus' true potential resides in flight. In the air, he is a quick yet powerful opponent, however like most pterosaurs, he is rather slow and clumsy when walking on land. Taking out the wings would force the creature to land, preventing it from escaping back into the air.
Personality: Judging by the ancient texts and inscriptions found as of far, Horus has been said to be a "beast with ever changing personalities", hinting that it had both saved and ruined the lives of those that worship him. Many of TERRA's paleobiologists claim that the beast could've been a mostly solitary beast that would only get together with others of his kind during mating season. However, with the lack of evidence claiming of other similar beasts to Horus, this would prompt him to become more aggressive as it constantly fought other beasts simply to survive and in the hopes of eventually finding a mate to carry on the next generation.
History: Known by the texts of Ancient Egypt as "Horus" - the sky god - this massive winged beast was worshipped and revered by the Egyptians as a primordial god. Ancient hieroglyphics and illustrations found within ancient temples and the pyramids shown Horus both as the traditional illustration of wearing a falcon head upon a humanoid body and as the massive crimson beast often flying an ravaging a city below or engaging with other monsters. Perhaps the former rendition was a way for them to personify him.
One of the titan's most famous symbols is the "Eye of Horus" - a symbol of protection, royal power, and good health. Judging how illustrations had shown the beast battling or communicating with other giant foes, including renditions theorized to be the gods Set, Anubis, and Sobek respectively. However, one illustration described the great god to have fallen underneath a collapsing mountain after being defeated by an unspecified god - burying Horus underneath a mile of rubble and sand near what's now Mount Sinai. It would be the last piece of writing ever found to mention him.
Strangely, for a creature of such size, paleobiologists suspected that Horus would also be flying elsewhere outside of Africa, however nearly all of his proof was documented in multiple sources within North Africa. Several European diaries and manuscripts had seemed to hint or mention of Horus' existence, however they never seemed to give it a name. It wasn't until 1994 when TERRA first discovered the beast after a Terran archeological expedition accidentally uncovered him from deep within a cave system. He wasn't dead at all - rather in a state of suspended dormancy.
Shortly after, a containment facility would be placed right on top of him as "Outpost 44", where he was monitored closely by TERRA. The question now wasn't the fact of if it could awake, but rather a matter of when.
Appearance: (Be more descriptive with your character. What does it look like?)
Size: 57 Meters Tall | 144 Meter Wingspan
First Appearance: Yucatán, Mexico - Contained within "Outpost 19" inside an ancient Mayan temple, now surrounded by a black sound-proof wall. Dubbed by the locals as "Casa de los murciélagos".
Abilities:
Flight: Using her massive wings, Camazotz can zip through the air at impressive speeds and turn on the dime.
Echolocation: Like all bats, Camazotz utilizes echolocation to judge what her immediate surroundings are.
Acute Hearing: Camazotz's acute hearing allows her to pick up very faint noises that others would fail to pick up. She can hear noises from up to several miles away and it's been theorized that she can even pick up the heartbeat of her opponents.
Sonic Screech: Camazotz can unleash a powerful sonic screech that can temporarily stun larger monsters and wreck buildings within her vicinity.
Blood/Energy Siphon: Camazotz's most notable ability is the ability to suck the blood and energy out of her opponents. Utilizing them, it can allow her to heal and enhances her abilities temporarily. Depending on the blood and/or energy that she takes in, she could even temporarily gain her attacker's power for several uses.
Hivemind: Camazotz has connections to nearby bat populations and can command them as she wills. Her own bat populace - think miniatures versions of Camaztoz - in particular will come to her aid and can swarm the opposing enemy, distracting it for long enough as she goes in for the kill.
Weaknesses:
Frailty: Camazotz was not made to engage head-on with stronger monsters. Her body is weak compared to other more bulky creatures and she wouldn't survive long if pitted against them with little room to maneuver.
Sensitive Hearing: While Camazotz's acute hearing allows her to pick up even the slightest of noises, it also makes her vulnerable to incredibly loud noises. Those who utilize this vulnerability are able to confuse, as well as disorient and ultimately disrupt her ability to navigate.
Personality: Camazotz tends to be usually a shy creature, often seeking refuge in dark environments. In containment, she appeared to have entered a deep hibernation as she hanged upside down on her giant perch. Little of her behavior had been documented otherwise, however Terran biologists claim that she would've been a social animal, hanging around with similar looking bats. The recent discovery of the large "Morteptera (Giant Death Bats)" seem to clarify their relationship to one another - with some believing the small bats were Camazotz's offspring.
In Mayan mythology, the people spoke of the bat goddess with both admiration and reverence. They both described her as a rather docile creature at peace and a blood-thirsty monster during conflict. Opposing tribes seem to demonize the creature extensively, focusing on her vicious ferocity for blood and how she'd suck it from the victims of sacrifices.
Meanwhile, Polynesian mythology presented the bat goddess "Leutogi" as a more benevolent goddess, being more of a protector of both bats and to her worshippers.
History: TBA
Other: - Despite her infamous blood-sucking diet, Camazotz is perfectly content in eating fruit and seeds if blood is scarce.
Appearance: A semi-aquatic quadruped, Akhlut has been described to be a cross between an orca and a wolf. While he lacks the traditional aspects of a wolf - such as fur and ears - he does at least utilize five webbed claws on his feet, which resemble those of wolves. Other then that, most of his body is smooth and patterned much like that of a regular orca, however has scales running down his neck, limbs, and shark-like tail. His dorsal fin jets from his back, with spines running down his fore-arms, and also utilizes "pseudo-fins" on the back of his limbs to help with aquatic movement.
Size: 65 Meters Tall (At the tip of his dorsal fin) | 132 Meters Long
First Appearance: Arctic Ocean - Contained within Outpost 4 entrapped under ice several miles from Greenland.
Abilities:
Enhanced Agility: Akhlut relies on his extensive agility when combating or evading other titanic adversaries. He's known to issue fancy acrobatics during combat - his favorite being leaping out of the water to attack.
Superior Swimmer: With his whale-like aspects, it's expected for Akhlut to be a great swimmer. He's far more agile and maneuverable underwater when compared on land.
Sonar: Like regular orcas, Akhlut utilizes a variety of special vocalizations - ranging from clicks to low-pitch wails - to communicate with his environment. This allows him to identify where food or other titans are and act accordingly.
Sonic Clicks: With his sonar, Akhlut can issue powerful clicks of his mouth in rapid succession to stun and disorient opponents. This ability works best when underwater.
Blowhole Blast: His blowhole is powerful enough to eject high-pressured water that can rip through ice like a drill.
Weaknesses:
Sonar Disruption: Akhlut can be disoriented if stronger sonar frequencies interfere with his own. It can even be used to drive the creature elsewhere and away from other valuable targets.
Speed Over Brawn: While Akhlut can deal a number on his opponents with his claws and teeth alone, he's not known to usually overpower his opponents in sheer brawn. He prefers to utilize hit and run attacks, catching his opponents off-guard before retreating back to plan his next moves.
Personality: Akhlut is a highly territorial titan, always ready to combat any rival that gets in his way. Ancient records and stories told by the local inuit and eskimo tribes claimed that his species would often hunt in small packs in order to take down larger monsters, much like wolves. However, being that he's supposedly the last of his kind, his survival instincts had pushed him into overdrive as he fights to survive, trusting no one. Yet despite his aggression, he's also strategic enough to battle using "hit-and-run" tactics rather than engaging his opponent head on. If he feels as if the opponent is too strong for him to manage alone, he won't hesitate to retreat and high-tail to higher ground.
History: TBA
Other: Akhlut's sonar calls are nearly identical to those of modern orcas, making it common to see a large pod travel along side him when he's in water.
"This wasn't just evolution... It wasn't just survival, it was a war of the gods. The gods of nature. The gods of the primal earth." ~ — Walter Riccio (Skull Island: The Birth of Kong)
After thousands of millions of years of dormancy, titanic beings once forgotten rose from the deepest darkest depths of the planet's surface in response to an unknown frequency that rocked the world by storm. The anti-monster initiative "TERRA" had long since been preparing for when this day would inevitably come. They did everything they could - documenting them, imprisoning them, studying them, even proposing projects to halt their rampage with the minimalist of casualties. They did all the calculations necessary to prepare, but they assumed this to take place far into the future...
And now they're here.
Humanity stands amidst the gaping jaws of primordial gods - creatures who had lived far longer than we had. They want their Earth back - their rightful place upon the infested world of man.
The war for Earth had just begun.
We start this RP upon that fateful day - the very second the monsters decided to break free and reveal themselves to the eyes of the public.
The player's human characters would be situated in various different locations and would find their lives turned upside down as they find themselves in the crosshairs of a monstrous invasion. They do all they could to survive before TERRA arrive at the affected areas, gathering their agents and assessing the situation. Any involved or have information about the invaders would be taken in by TERRA and asked for questioning, while they attempt to decode and pinpoint the direction of the frequency. In the meantime, humanity is now arming itself for war and TERRA is tasked to track down and take these behemoths down, dead or alive.
TERRA'S Primary Objectives:
1). Document the escaped monsters and newly risen threats.
2). Decode the mysterious frequency and discover its origins.
3). Prepare countermeasures and contingency protocols.
The player's monster characters would find themselves in a world that had long since lived without their presence. Their world has changed, whether for the better or worse. Whether they are furious at the world tainted by those pesky humans, or otherwise simply confused or curious, their search for answers would lead them into conflict with both TERRA, the military, and even each other.
Monsters' Primary Objectives:
1). SURVIVE.
~ TERRA's main HQ is located on the coast of Boston, Massachusetts, being a large building with many underground components and access to a whole monster database of contained titans. They also have remote cameras that document the containment facilities all over the world.
~ Military power is roughly equivalent to today's tech, however TERRA has access to several high-tech vehicles and weaponry in preparations for the monster's uprising.
~Mechs in this arc are virtually non-existent, or in early stages of development prototyping and would be more in the hands of the military and human-to-human conflict. (One character mech is fine so as long as it reflects the prototyping stage)
- As a personal request, I would prefer monsters to be more grounded in Earth's ecosystem as giant ancient monsters. Think of traditional kaiju from the Godzilla and Gamera series of Tokustatu films. Nothing too complicated yet - so keep very unique monsters of the lovecraftian type, or those that had hiveminds, to a minimal. A few of these things are OK within reason, but they ought not to be the focus of the Arc.
- (Any other answers to other questions will be documented here, so ask away!)
"The Gods of the Old World have come knocking... Seeking to reclaim what was once theirs... Primeval in nature, they exhibit no compromise... Refusing to yield 'till humanity dies."
Disclaimer: Godzilla will not appear in this RP. Image only shows to demonstrate the atmosphere of this RP.
"The arrogance of man thinks nature is in our control... and not the other way around." ~ Dr. Ishiro Serizawa (Godzilla 2014)
From the days of early man, mankind had endured over several millennia of surviving within a constantly changing world. They, as a species, survived the savage beasts that constantly hunted them by creating weapons to defend themselves. They had adapted to the harsh climates that rattled the globe - from the great Ice Age to major droughts. They had survived the countless wars that threatened to exterminate them from within. And they've constantly created new tools and materials to finally thrive and control the world around them. Humanity would become one of the major the dominant species on Earth, expanding across the world to the point where they felt like nothing could stop them.
But in the grand scheme of time, we've only been around for merely a few seconds. And compared to other eras, we're merely infants in a world still unknown to us in many places.
In reality, humans were only bugs in a world of gigantic, primordial beasts. No better did humanity recognize this within the earliest part of their history. From the many illustrations found in caves and ancient murals, they all described huge beasts of incomprehensible size roaming across the land. They referred to them as almighty "gods" and "demons", divine creatures that they revered and respected. Some illustrations sported various interpretations of these creatures - some sporting giant wings, some sporting fiery-breaths, hard carapaces, and other unnatural god-like feats.
From shaping the world around them to battling one another in colossal conflicts, they all dominated the lives of ancient man as living, unstoppable forces of nature. Yet suddenly, at one point in time, most of them had seemed to vanish from historical records. When these texts were recovered after centuries of dormancy, archeologists initially believed that these "gods" were simply deities that helped the ancient people explain the world around them. They believed that such beasts were incapable of existing for one way or another.
If only they truly grasped the full picture...
However, some notable individuals knew about the existence of these titanic gods, knowing better than to join the ignorance propagated by the governments. That role fell into the hands of the "TERRA" Initiative. Assembled in 1959 by the UN, after multiple reports came in of destruction which could've only been made by their size and prowess, the international organization lead by director Matthias G. Reed made haste in identifying and securing possible source of titan activity and preparing protocols in the event they awaken. Since the inception of TERRA, over twenty outposts had been erected around the globe and every year they discover more monsters popping up on their radar.
Still, it wouldn't save them for what would come next.
On that fateful day - June 17th, 2021 - mankind became witness to the beginning of a sudden, violent resurgence. Coming out of nowhere, a mysterious, powerful ultrasonic frequency rippled throughout the entire planet, causing mass blackouts to occur along with disturbing precious electronic equipment. Not even TERRA's outposts were safe from the impact. No one had seen or predicted it coming. Nearly half an hour later, several outposts reported unusual activity within their dormant facilities. And then, in a near synchronic fashion, TERRA would be faced with several dreaded messages originating from nearly all of their outposts... all repeating the same message:
Caught completely off-guard and ill-prepared, TERRA scrambled to alert the Governments of the world upon to approaching apocalypse and prepared for the worse. But even their initial efforts would prove fruitless as, even with the help of military forces, they would fail to put a dent or even halt the advance of these god-like monstrosities. Within mere hours, various cities around the globe had been virtually flattened, with casualties numbering in the millions. The enraptured media demanded answers for what was previously an unknown phenomenon to the public, while scientists and journalists worked tirelessly in order to study and find ways to beat these ancient gods.
Earth has unleashed yet another Herculean feat for humanity to solve, one of the likes that they've had never seen before. Will the new world preserve their features and prevail against the titans of old? Or will the Old Gods succeed in taking back for what was once rightfully theirs?
"Our Mission: Discovery and Defense in a Time of Monsters." ~ Monarch's mission statement, circa 2018 (Monsterverse Series)
Welcome to Primordial Uprising! As one could tell, this RP is inspired by the kaiju films of those made in Japan - including the classic Godzilla, Gamera and Ultraman franchises - as well as the recent and upcoming films in America's own kaiju series known simply as the "Monsterverse" (also featuring Godzilla, King Kong, and friends). Particularly, this RP is heavily based on someone else's now defunct version, but now tuned with slightly more bells and whistles. In this RP, you can take control of both sides revolving around an apocalyptic battle between mankind struggling to defend their world and the giant primordial gods that wish to reclaim it.
As a human, you've found yourself enwrapped within the midst of the conflict, as well as on the radar of TERRA. Whether you're a scientist testing theories, a reporter covering a particular monster, a soldier or pilot combating them with state-of-the-art weaponry, a slimy individual with an agenda of its own, or even a regular pedestrian trying not to become one of the many casualties, your decisions and contributions can affect the entire outcome of the war.
As a monster, you've just broken out of your containment facility, or perhaps one of the many new faces that had just decided to pop out of hiding. You're most likely confused or enraged about what the world had become of your absence and proceed to act accordingly. However, such monsters aren't so black and white as they seem. While many are enraged titans that seek destruction, some on the other hand might those that only defend themselves for the sake of their own survival. Some may even value humanity and seek to protect them from the chaos - giving the humans a fighting chance! Either or, you are bound to run into a fellow monster and your reactions towards them can result in brutal conflict or perhaps teaming up to cause more chaotic destruction or combat a common foe.
This role-play deeply approves of collaborating and interacting with one another, with storylines and arcs being common and often to develop both your characters and the plots for both sides. Story will be more grounded in the basis of basic and simple scenarios, but as the RP goes on, more crazy events may happen down the line. But most importantly is to essence of having fun! Have fun in designing your characters and the interactions you'll have with one another. Sky is the limit!
"Must Read."
(1). As in basically every other RP, no God-modding, Mary-Suing, Power Gaming, Meta-Gaming, etc, is allowed.
(2). Don't be rude or cause drama within the OCC. If any major problems arise, settle them out with the GMs in the PMs or otherwise. Repeated offenders will be kicked from the RP.
(3).] Both human and monster character limits are 2 each for each player as of Arc 1 (total of four characters). (More Arc 1 info will be revealed at a later date with specifications)
(4). Should be obvious for most players, but for newcomers, all characters require a CS to be approved. Put your sheet in the OCC and wait for review by me and other Co-GMs (if applicable). Once accepted, put it in the CS.
(5). Existing kaiju or humans found in any canon media source (names like Godzilla, Gamera, Dr. Ishiro Serizawa, etc) are barred from be using. They have to be original-based (but can be inspired significantly by them if you so please) - however names of mythological beasts (such as Crimera, Bunyip, Jormangandr, etc) are fair game.
(6). Players who drop out "sporadically" from the RP are heavily discouraged. If you want to leave the RP for any particular reason, at least inform me or the Co-GMs of your leave of absence. (If it's an emergency, and/or its a temporal leave, also tell us ASAP and we can accommodate for your absence).
(7). My posts for advancing the plot will come within a weekly basis. If the majority of players post by the end of the week, I will proceed to advance it. If not, I will give extra time up to another week to advance (depending on how many need to finish). If you're falling behind and need a boost or more time, the GMs will be happy to help you along.
(8). If you have any questions, comments, concerns, and problems, please let the GMs know! We'll be happy to respond to anything you ask.

@Dead Cruiser I get where you're going with this, but if he exists it would make it even more difficult for the humans to engage with - let alone being in the immediate area where his radiation is released. I dunno how you intend to have the radiation lie for however long, but if anything I feel like he'd be better for future arcs. Cool idea though, just maybe a little bit much for arc 1.
BTW, main thread will be up tomorrow I promise. IC wont be immediate till somewhere later in the week just so people can place their characters and make the humans if need be. But its almost here! Hang in with me!
