Oh! I see. I think you meant Zoan, because those are the ones for transforming into creatures. Logia type devil fruits grant the users control over elements and the ability to transform into said element. ^_^'

Yes, odd mistake.

Gecko logia?

Bad wording I suppose. It's a Logia-Type Fruit that grants its user the properties of a Gecko.

Edit: I mean Zoan. That's why it sounded so wrong.
So if no one objects, I'll be creating a Gecko Logia-Type Devil Fruit user. Unsure of the position, possibly First Mate if no one else beats me to the punch.

Marcus nodded in consensus with Esperanza’s words. "Speaking to one of the professor's about it sounds like a good idea." he said.

Inwardly, he realized he didn't quite agree with Esperanza's reasoning on the matter. The prospect of having a room to himself was a tantalizing one. In his eyes, Helena was fortunate. And it wasn't as if new friends couldn't be made outside the dormitory. Maybe Esperanza was attracted to the prospect of living with other students, and thus likely felt it odd that Helena be out of place by being alone.

Marcus glanced at Esperanza and for the first time really scrutinized her appearance unabashed. Bandages, weird." he mused as he noticed the streams of gauze running up, down and around her exposed appendages. Who or what in the hell is hurting her like that? he was led to question. Maybe her environment was one of isolation and abuse. Yet she seemed comfortable with her herself, this shown by her dress. Yet her social skills attested to the latter.

Marcus cocked his head inquisitively. Could this be her own doing? It wasn't uncommon for those who experienced depression on a critical level to injure themselves, although this wasn't common back home in Lagos. Unfortunately, it was difficult to determine whether or not one was suffering from depression, but from what he could see the in the girl, she was quite the opposite in most cases.

So there could be only one plausible possibility. "You wouldn't happen too be a Blood Mage would you?" Marcus inquired, leaning forward in the seat he took during the orientation.
@Archmage MC@LokiLeo789

I agree with archmage. I've been in a few one piece roleplay were it was tried and those rps have always died really quickly. Now, maybe sometime down the line when the rp has some momentum behind it, multiple sides could work(like a special group of marines is dispatched to chase down the main pirates because of how much trouble they're causing) but I don't think it would work in the beginning of this rp.

Understandable. If an RP were to take on device in which the players take the place if the Straw Hats, one of a few things would have to be considered.

One: Numbers. Currently there are 9 crew-members officially part of the Straw Hat crew. This number in relation to the number of player-characters needs to remain proportionate unless people start to create characters who have no real use to the crew. A possible solution, create characters who are younger and are considered beginners who play the part of traditional Powder-monkeys.

Two: Villains. Arcs will no doubt come with villains, whether it be the Marines or other Pirate crews. But the job in RP's like these usually fall on the shoulders of the GM and his/her Co.GM's. Unless the GM's are capable of keeping up with the flow of the story, RP's like these tend to die. This is just an observation of mine, although this is the case for most RP's of similar countenance.

Just some point in want to bring out for one of the other potential plots.

Edit: Looks like you have the Numbers think down. Nevermind then.
@LokiLeo789

Two sides in an RP tend to not work unless its something like DBZ or Bleach where people can teleport around. One Piece it kinda doesn't work so well. Most 'do the marine/pirate' split, but they die very fast because of how inflexable the One Piece universe is in comparison to some other shonens.

That is no doubt true, yet there are ways around this, like timeskips between arcs, that way the rapid movements of characters are justified over a set period of time. But also, we have to put into consideration what our values are in respect to an One Piece RP. Are we in it for the combat and action? Then what I suggested may be for you! If your in it for the comradery and overall story development them we'll have to come up with something else.
So, dear friends, my laptop battery has decided to be a goose and not hold a charge. As a result, I'm either going to be posting on mobile or via campus library computers when I get to them. Please be patient with type errors, or a lack of text color. Formatting is a real bitch from a cell phone.

Sorry about that. Although I personally find it easier to post of a phone then it is off a computer. I know it's unusual.

Hi Lokileo, welcome to the One Piece roleplay!

Hullo! Hullo! I am excited to find myself once again in one of these, but it seems we have found ourselves in Operation: Polt Finder. Well, If I may, i have think I have an idea that unfortunately may require numbers and a dedicated community to play.

-A. The classic scenario were our crew basically takes the place of the Straw Hats to go to the grand line.

B. Playing a group of marines
-

This. Essentially, give Rp'ers the opportunity to play both sides. I can make one character who is a pirate and one who is marine. The marines are free to actively hunt the pirates, take them into custody and so forth. In essence, all this to be character-driven Rp in which the choices you make on either side either has you brutally murdered by a pirate crew or arrested and executed by marines.
I would like to establish my interest, my last One Piece RP was a hoot of fun and would hopefully like to repeat the experience.
@LokiLeo789

And how wonderfully frustrating it can be. Maybe I'll join a debate some time.
