Bio

Hello everyone. I'm Dutch, a mother of a 12-year old boy and I love both rp-ing and writing.

I've been writing and roleplaying in Dutch and English since 2002. I joined the RolePlayer Guild in 2014 and since May 2020 I'm one of the contests mods.

There are times I don't have much creative energy and will be silent for a while, but in the very least I will try to keep the writing contests going.

If I haven't replied in a while, feel free to poke me. Genuinly, I sometimes need reminders that you are waiting for a reply. I don't ghost on purpose, I promise. Time is just a weird thing sometimes, and if something happened 3 days ago, 3 weeks ago or 3 months ago can feel pretty much the same and I often don't realize how much time passed since my last reply. And if I read your reply and accidentally closed the tab there is a good chance I might forget I was supposed to reply because I lost the visual reminder T_T

I look forward to your entries.

Also, a slight change in plans. Instead of posting here, please PM me the entries, with the number of the RPGC and the title of your story. I will edit the information in the first post.

And I will keep track of the number of entries received in the first post too.
Stuart was in the library, sitting at a table with his laptop. While he worked for the agency as an expert, he didn't belong to any base and he didn't have a personal office at any of the locations of the organisation. He didn't mind, working at one place was never for him anyway.

Mike and Benjamin were on their way to the boss when they saw Jase and glanced at each other when they noticed his altered appearance.
They both nodded a greeting though, Benjamin showing a friendly smile with it.

They continued to the office of the boss and after knocking on the door, they entered to tell him what happened.

"I will talk to the ones responsible," mr. Johnson promised. "And Steph can take room 26, that one is vacant right now. Thanks for telling me."

Since that had went well, Mike and Benjamin left the room again and went back to the wing with the personal chambers, to tell Steph the good news.

Allowing both anonymous and named entries is in line with how RPGC's were done in the past and I'm going to return to that.

For voting this would be a first, but I like the idea of allowing both public votes and anonymous votes.

Also, contestants are allowed, and encouraged, to review the other works and give their vote too. But I'll see if I can find some people who don't like to write short stories but love to read and who would love to help out with voting.
Question: is a timberfae a creature you used before or should I come up with some lore and specifics when Jase talks with Stuart?
That is true. It would be nice to see more people voting.

I'll see what I can do about that.
We'll also have to put a stop to reoccurring characters, like how the bard Mikhal appears in quite a few of Calle's stories. She might as well announce it's her work if he shows up.

I'll just have to be very clever about it. I could write about a bard with a lyre called... Marc and his grumpy friend... Joshua. Foolproof, no-one would notice! :P

But @Roach makes a good point. Back when mdk and RomanAria hosted these contests, people could specify if they wanted the entry labelled with their name or remain anonymous. It seemed to work well back then. I often let my name be mentioned, most of the time because I was writing about a character I had used before and people would know which story was mine anyway.

When allowing contestants to vote and review, it's will become clear fairly soon who wrote what entry, unless everyone will write a mock-review of their own work too.

Also, @BrokenPromise, I love the image. Thank you very much.

Thanks for your input so far :)

@BrokenPromise, the dimensions for images are: max 231 px wide and around 110px tall. If you could make something I would appreciate that.
Benjamin rubbed his face. How could this have happened? What medicine had this effect on people? But they had to deal with this. There wasn't anything they could do for Ari, except hope the doctor really did want to help her breath again.
"Hello Ray," Benjamin said to her. "I'm Benjamin. I'm a friend, so you don't have to be afraid of me, okay? This is Dia, she's a friend too, just like Ari is. I just want to know what you remember, about yourself and this place."

The doctor noticed the changes and lowered the needle. "Calm down," he said to Ari. "Are you feeling okay with just the extra oxygen? Are you experiencing any other side-effects from your pills?"
He took a stethoscope to listen to her heart and lungs.

"No, you are helpful. Thanks for telling me." Marc flashed a smile and looked at the book. "So, were you planning on buying that?" he asked her.
That was what the conversation was about before it had turned into the dark possibility people never got better in the asylum, a thought that made him shudder, and he was more than happy to return to that and more light-hearted topics of conversations. He did promise himself one thing: the next day he would look more closely into the files of the people that were listed as discharged for transfer or returning home.
I'm going to take a vote here.

In the past RPGC was done in two ways.

1: Entries were handled anonymously: they were either sent to the RPGC account or to the contest mod hosting the contest and then collected in an entries thread by a contest mod without adding their name.

2: Entries were not anonymously: they were posted in the thread and collecting in a new thread for voting.

I see upsides and downsides to both methods, so I am curious about what the general writing contest participant prefers.

Please PM @Calle the entries and give it as title RPGC#27 - Title, this tread will be used for the prompt and the discussion only.
