My 1x1 thread, because I'm a shameless hack.

Well, we seem to have some good interest, I'll do my best to get an IC up today or tomorrow. Any ideas on what you want to play?
"'Ello? Can you talk? Speak to me! Hoy, you ain't one o' them Undead are you?"

You open your eyes, and the afternoon sun is nearly blinding. As your vision adjusts, you find yourself on your back, lying down. A halfling man is shaking you violently, but stops as he looks into your now open eyes. He helps you up, and as you look around, there lies the remains of a large airship. You find yourself on a beach, and bodies and blood are strewn about all around you. Some have gotten up, others seem to be grasping at the air, but most seem to be motionless.

"Hoy! You awright? 'At big ol' ship came outta nowhere!

You think back to what happened. How this all came to be.

You were aboard The Wyndspire Falcon. One of the most advanced airships to date. Why you were on this ship is known only to you. The ship was on its way to Heston, a new land of prosperity. But things weren't quite so smooth.

You remember freezing cold, and shattering windows. Screaming from the passengers, and ear-splitting roaring. Out on the main deck, an enormous white dragon has attacked the ship, and he doesn't look done. There was more cold, falling, and then...

The halfling introduces himself as Jeets, and tells you you've landed on Korthos island, a remote island in the ocean on the way to Stormreach. He says the island has been having trouble as of late. A dragon has been terrorizing the island, and the Cultists of the Devourer have been running rampant.

How will you traverse the island? Will you do your best to escape and get to Heston? Will you Stand up against the Cultists and eventually, the dragon? Or perhaps... something else entirely?

Welcome one and all to Trouble in Korthos. Here you'll be surviving on Korthos Island, a small town on a remote island. What your objectives are, are up to you. For characters, you can play just about anything. Just try not to play anything blatantly overpowered or the living embodiment of edge.

We will be playing with "stats". You won't be rolling dice or anything, but they will be used for interactions. Say, you want to kick down a door, but have low strength, it probably isn't going to happen. Or, if you want to try and balance across a narrow passage, but have low Dexterity, you probably aren't going to make it across. Here's a calculator for stats.

I'll leave a list of playable races below, but I'll be pretty lenient on classes. We also will be using a skill proficiency system. When doing something along the lines the proficient skill, you are far more likely to succeed. You will pick three skills that you are proficient in, and some races may give you extras.

Tell me if you have any questions either here or in PM's.

Roman raised an eyebrow. Not quite the questions he was hoping for, but questions nonetheless. "To answer the question of pay, like I said before, you'll be paid in gold for whatever information you can find. Preferably more than just words. Although if you don't want gold, I'm sure we could arrange some sort of service, such as enchanting, or acquiring a magic item."

"As for you Irvine, whether or not you're cleared of suspicion isn't up to me. It's up to you and your actions. As for Brax, he was told to remain near the entrance, and he likely is taking residence in one of the houses. Other than that, he shouldn't be very hard to find."

Roman finished speaking before turning to Alex and tilted his head towards the group.

"Right. You'll each have 24 hours to prepare. You'll meet back here tomorrow. Buy any supplies you need, prepare any spells you need, whatever.
You should also know that you have access to the healers guild. If one of you suffers from something our doctor friend here can't fix you up, such as death or dismemberment."

Alex gives a short bow before quickly retreating to the library. Roman speaks once more.

"You can find us here, should you need us. You are dismissed."
Namar

Namar sat in his seat in the corner of his room at the Inn, swirling his drink. His week long journey so far was mostly uneventful. He hadn't been attacked by bandits or wolves, and people didn't seem to really notice his small fangs or pale skin. It also probably helped that he didn't say much to anyone. Last thing he needed was someone getting pissed because he doesn't know how to talk to people.

He took a sip from his drink. It was some sort of tomato juice and pepper flakes. He just picked something random off the menu. Namar usually wasn't a fan of spicy things, but he had to admit, the drink was good.

Some time later, Namar walked down the stairs to the main floor. There weren't too many people out and about, but one person who caught his eye was some sort of hairless Gnoll and a bird. The first of many strange encounters, he was sure. The Monastery didn't get many visitors, and Namar wasn't familiar with many races, outside of what he was told, or had read, so this Gnoll was a strange sight indeed.

Namar picked a seat against the wall and leaned back. He began thinking on what to do next. He needed "experience" according to his superiors. What exactly that entails was up to him, he guessed. Travel the world, get in some fights, find some cool stuff, and finally have stories to tell some of the warriors that stop by the Monastery. He'd need to head out soon, but perhaps he'd stay behind and see if someone would let him tag along to the next town. Or maybe someone would even hire him.

Central District, Castle, 2:00 P.M.

The central district's Manor was a grand place indeed. Red carpets, lacquered oak seats with fluffy cushions around a large table decorated with gold candles, and the golden ribbons lining the walls were just a few of the luxurious decorations around the room. Atop a small, room wide, 3-step staircase, stood an Elderly scarred Man, the King and Prince's advisor, Roman. Roman looked down at the adventurers with a scowl on his face. He let out a deep sigh.

"This... isn't going to go well, is it? Straightening himself, he looked over the group.

He recognized Irvine almost immediately. Roman was usually untrusting of people, but Irvine even more so. That man made his skin crawl. But one thing Roman couldn't deny was his skill. He's brought back people from the brink of death, and is a rival to the Healers guild. Not a bad choice.

Next was a man in armor. He looked Grizzled, much like himself. Perhaps if he was a warrior instead of a chancellor, he'd look something like him. He was likely an experienced warrior, and could provide some sort of leader role for the group.

Lastly was a woman in a blue jacket. She seemed almost... lithe, but at the same time she seemed somewhat sturdy. Judging by the lack of visible weapons and armor, this woman was either some sort of Magic User, or some sort of stealthy type. Either could be useful for this party composition.

Just as He was about to begin speaking, a Half-Elf man in q light blue vest walked out of a heavy oak door to the west of the party. He clutched a leather-bound tome in one hand, and a leather bag with a face slung over his shoulder. He swiftly made his way to Roman and stood next to him, and crossed his arms.

Roman looked over to the man in blue. "Ah, Alexander, you made it just in time. These are the, ahem, 'adventurers' that were chosen. You'll be assisting them I presume?"
"Yes, Roman. I will be with them. I've already discussed things with Prince Orro. Now, I believe you were about to adress the group?"

"Yes, Yes." Roman turned back to the group and spoke. "Your task, as you likely already know, is to investigate the disappearances in the Saltaire District. Over the past few days people have been disappearing en masse. We've already sent in a few guards, and a few experts that we've hired from around the the country. Now, as of yesterday, it has been a week since we've seen or heard anything from either group. Your first task is to find any trace of either group. Whether that's notes, corpses, or obvious signs of life. Just recently we've sent in a volunteer named Brax Goldthumb. He's a dwarf in red. He'll be hard to miss. You will be rewarded in gold for anything significant you can find."

Roman let out another sigh. "You have 24 hours to prepare. Does anyone have any important questions? You may ask either one of us." he points back and forth between himself and Alexander, the man in blue.
I will hopefully have an IC post up tomorrow.
@coffeeflower While the idea of a thief character could be good, your character needs to be at least a moderately experienced adventurer, worker, or otherwise have some sort of experience in fighting, surviving, or at least be knowledgeable on useful stuff, like magic. Someone whose been in prison for 6 years and doesn't seem to know pronouns doesn't seem like a great pick.

Next, the background seems a little light. Who were these "band of boys"? Were they a group of others like you? Homeless, with nowhere to go, resorting to stealing to survive. Were they bandits, or in organized crime? Maybe they were even part of the Quickfoot or Swiftfoot gang?

Also, the latest you go to is 26, what happened in the next 11 years? Were you constantly on the run and only recently arrived in Heston? Did you get a new identity and lay low for the past decade, sharpening your skills? Did you escape with the "group of boys" and rise through the ranks and took the job from the Prince for some fat stacks?

When you say you're good at pelting on others, what does that mean? Are you good a throwing things like knives or darts? And surely you can do more than steal and throw things? Are you an expert at surviving in the wilderness, or know secret passages through the city only known to a few people? And surely you know Thieves' Cant?

Lastly, at the top and bottom of your post, there's coding in [brackets] that'll say like, quote=@lord orgasmo, and at the end, it'll say /quote in brackets. Go ahead an delete those. Next, there'll be more coding that says hider=CS template, go ahead and delete "CS template" and replace it with your character's name. Then, theres a link that says it'll take you to the Fontmeme page. Go there and create a fontmeme image. If you dont know how to use Fontmeme, or how to use the image coding, let me know through PM.
