Caleb Murdoch sat in the midst of several unfinished projects as he tinkered away with a half built motorcycle engine. Turning around to grab a new tool, he found himself suddenly caught up in assembling a thruster for the jetpack designs he had. Truth be told Cal was constantly thinking about each of the projects simultaneously however he was only a man with two hands and could not physically work on them all at the same time. He had considered building a set of additional artificial limbs but he didn't feel like screwing around with neural transmitters. He smiled as he thought of an older superhero film where the villain had trouble with such a device causing the artificial limbs to control him. Cal definitely wasn't about to risk that happening.

Standing up to stretch, Cal swayed slight to the blaring sound of music as it echoed around the small room. Picking up a dart off a nearby cluttered desk, Cal lined it up with a holographic projection of not just any human brain but a live feed of his own. Various areas of the diagram glowed as Cal tuned into the numerous noises and other stimulus around the room. Behind him, a literal wall of monitors displayed a multitude programs, ranging from the news, to documentaries, to reruns of Firefly. Taking it all in, Cal was testing his limits, seeing how much information he could manage to process in detail while keeping it separate and organized within his mind. It was amazing watching his brain at work, unlike an actual human, he didn't just focus on one thing at hand, he didn't just multi-task, Cal was literally able to take in everything his senses picked up and perfectly remember it. Or at least, he would be able to once he had fully explored his abilities and learned how to control them.

Despite being part of the Young Justice initiative as suggested by Blue Beetle, Cal felt obligated to keep an eye on Gateway City as he still hadn't managed to track down his mother's killer. Despite years of hunting down numerous leads over the years, the trail often went cold every time. That said, Cal had still managed to make a significant impression on the city's criminal underworld with Blue Beetle's help. Without Kord, Cal wouldn't have been able to get his hands on the resources required to design and create his equipment. Before Kord's involvement, Cal had been using weapons made out of hardware tools. He had however managed to create a rather versatile weapon out of a nail-gun, nothing in his current arsenal even came close to representing that.

Picking up another dart, Cal turned his attention from the diagram of his brain to a 'Conspiracy Web' he had put together of Gateway City's criminal underworld. He could swear that there was one man behind it all, or at the very least an inner circle at the top to which all the lesser gangs reported to. Perhaps on some down time from the team Cal could zip down to Gateway and check it out. By car, the city was barely three hours away from Star. That was one of the good parts about Star City also being on the West Coast of the United States. Turning to his wall of monitors, Cal tuned back into his show just in time to mouth 'Big Damn Heroes Sir' along with Zoe as the climax of the Firefly episode played out behind him.

Allowing his mind to wonder again, Cal began turned his attention back to the barely completed jet pack before he turned abruptly on his heel and strolled across to his armor rack. Looking over the upper half of his armor, Cal examined it for a way to reinforce it while he began to go over the crime statistics for Star City in his head. If he was going to wear a jetpack, his armor would need to have some sort of under-laying harness installed in order to support his back and shoulders while also ensuring the jet back didn't just directly tug on one part of his body and instead the force was distributed equally.

Truth be told that was the easy part, Cal spun around and threw another dart as he slipped on a gauntlet and tapped the holographic interface along the shock pad. Projecting a holographic screen into the center of the room, Cal began to drag parts as he assembled a mock up for the jet pack and ran a couple diagnostics to see how much weight the projected design should be able to lift, to what altitude and at what speed. Pausing as he heard noise outside of his room, Cal shut down the interface and paused his monitors as he opened the sliding doors and poked his head out. Based on the noise someone was using the war room a few floors below prompting Cal to go watch as he turned around to lock up his room. Shutting off his monitors, he nearly banged his head off his shelf that he had lined with scale models ranging from the Serenity to an Imperial Star Destroyer, to the USS Enterprise E. Exiting the room and making his way down in the elevator, Cal stopped at one of the War Room's observational windows as he looked in on another one of the new recruits, the alien turtle.

Deciding he was going to screw with the 'Ninja Turtle', Cal made his way up the stairs in he control room as he began to set up a pool party simulation complete with bikini clad woman and the four Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. However before he could hit run, the alien had finished his session and was training places with Wisteria Adams, or as she preferred to be called, Owlet. Intrigued, Cal cancelled the simulation he had programmed and allowed her to input one of her own as he looked down to watch his potential rival. They had a lot in common in terms of their preferred weapons and M.O. but to Cal's understand, Wisteria was not a Metahuman. That said, Cal couldn't help but find himself lingering on her longer than necessary, surprisingly he found her attractive it would seem.

Giving his head a shake, Cal's thoughts cleared up as he went back to designing the motorcycle and jetpack while also analyzing Star City's crime statistics, all while he watched the Owlet strut her stuff below.

NAME:
Caleb 'Cal' Auriel Murdoch

ALIAS:
Thrillseeker

AGE:
21

SPONSOR:
Ted Kord (Blue Beetle II)

PERSONALITY:
Hardened, Independent and Driven

POWERS:
Cal possesses incredible advanced intellectual capabilities, his mind works in the same way as a computer with unlimited storage capacity, though much faster than any known processor and without losing the particular complex processing capabilities of the human brain. He is able to perform several mental functions at once without losing focus on any of them. His mind allows him to instantly recall specific information with incredible speed and accuracy. He is able to store everything that he experiences in a photographic memory and retrieve it immediately without the typical human pause for thought. The speed of his thoughts augments his analytical ability so that he is able to make snap decisions about his surroundings and create complex scenarios at high speed. Cal is able to track the probability of an event by piecing together stored data, and is able to perform multiple tasks at once by allocating a portion of his brain to each task. Cal can use his mind to replay a movie he has seen, play a game of internet chess, and focus on battling an opponent simultaneously without any one task distracting him from another.

Cal's abilities allow him to intuitively understand the operation of any mechanical device and subconsciously and even effortlessly create a schematic in his mind. More often than not, Cal is able to replicate or even invent complex devices or weapons out of mere scrap and "garbage".

Cal is self taught in several martial arts, and is a formidable hand-to-hand combatant thanks to him having complete conscious control over his own body. His analytical skills and facility with probability also extend to combat situations, allowing him to predict an opponent's attacks and initiate the optimal counter-attack. Cal is intelligent, his computer-like mind makes it easy for him to learn and acquire new skills. As such, he has personally invented all his own equipment, starting off originally with low end equipment made of easy to acquire objects before eventually forging and developing the higher grade materials he now uses in his uniform and weapons.

WEAKNESS(ES):
While Cal's abilities give him a significant boost, they also have several drawbacks. His mind can become overextended, especially in combat situations leading to him becoming disoriented and possibly even unconscious. This could happen from focussing on too many targets, allies, strategies or a combined amount of any of the above. Likewise, his mind could be potentially overloaded with information, something like a screen filled with flashing subtle messages and imagery could cause Cal to burn out and collapse to the ground. Additionally, while Cal claims he can 'build anything out of anything' he still needs something to use whether materials to build with or tools to fashion the materials, without either, Cal is dead in the water no matter what he can think up. Lastly, Cal's abilities are strictly limited to his mental functions and without his uniform, he's no more durable than a regular human. As such, if a foe is able to penetrate his armor, Cal's life could be seriously in danger.

EQUIPMENT:
Cal wears a uniform composed of tri weave titanium dipped fiber. In addition to that, the suit contains ceramic plates over the chest, back, thighs, shins and forearms. These ceramic plates are made of a combination of ablative and reactice armor allowing impacts and blows to be spread along the entirity of the surface thus minmizing harm to Cal. Likewise his helmet is composed of similar materials plus Kevlar. The entire suit has a layer of Nomex to reduce harm from heat and fire as well as being insulated against electrical attacks. The suit contains a light exoskeleton which increases Cal's durability, strength and speed by a factor of two which allows him to give toe to toe with some of the more minor superhumans.

In the case of severe injury such as a broken or dislocated limb, the suit automatically tightens around the limb to create a torquette, and can additionally directly inject pain killers into Cal's bloodstream. The suit consists of wrist mounted, grappling lines and tazer charges imbedded in the knuckles. Both the forearm and shin have scallopped blades along the side and the palms of the gloves as well as the soles of the boots have retractable climbing spikes. On either side of the ankles as well as the back are small thrusters which allow Cal to boost his jumps as well as several other purposes. Implanted in the center of the suit's chest is an electromagentic gyroscope which activates with the loud bang caused by firearms. This device produces an electromagnetic field which deflects bullets under .45 caliber away from Cal. The downside of the device is that it possibly endangers any surrounding allies.

Cal's cowl contains an elaborate Heads Up Display which allows him to monitor his vitals, as well as scan those of his teammates and even foes. This HUD can also identify and locate clues, evidence, ballistics paths etc during an investigation along with the use of several other tools on Cal's utility belt. The cowl also naturally contains a voice modifier, air filtration and headset. Cal's suit also contains several hidden speakers which allow Cal to create distractions with sound or to simply blast his favourite tunes in battle. His forearm armor also contains holographic emitters allowing for a holographic interface and display wherever he's standing. The suit's electronics run on a self sustaining battery core, while this core regulates its own recharge rate it's able to use the kinetic energy produced by motion to up its recharge rate increasing the difficulty in draining the core while in combat.

Holstered on either thigh, Cal has a pair of high caliber tonfas which expand and collapse to varying lengths as he needs for his unique combat style. These batons administer a high voltage charge upon impact but that feature can be disabled to allow for just blunt force trauma. Cal also carries a collapsible staff across his back, which along with being able to administer a charge akin to the tonfas, is also able to spread into a shield like shape.

Cal's utility belts hold various tools such as flash bangs, smoke pellets, an acidic compound to eat through metals such as locks or hinges, an adhesive and solvent, zip ties, forensics tools, a first aid kit and various forms of currency just in case. Naturally, Cal also keeps a several varieties of tool kits on his belts allowing him to be able to fully use his abilities in the field.

BIOGRAPHY:
Born along the West Coast of the United States of America, Caleb Murdoch grew up in Gateway City. At the age of four however, his father walked out on him and his mother to never be seen again while Cal's mother was murdered at the age of eight. During the four years after Cal's mother Regina began to date her former highschool sweet heart, a paramedic by the name of Landon Baxter. After Regina's death, Landon became Cal's legal guardian since the boy had no other living relatives. Living with Landon, Cal grew up with a fairly average childhood, although his grades were consistently high despite the fact he often ran afoul of his teachers due to his bored and uninterested demeanor. Landon repeatedly was called to the school to sit down and discuss Cal's attitude in class, each time Landon insisting the material must not be challenging enough while the school argued back they were the best in the area. Despite these frustrations, Caleb graduated elementary school and made his way into highschool without any further complications.

However, Cal remained bored with school and with the rising crime in Gateway City along with the discovery that his mother's murder remained unsolved, Cal decided to take matters into his own hands. Donning a hoodie and leather jacket, Cal fashioned several homemade gadgets out of junk laying around in Landon's garage. Starting a crusade of his own, Cal caught the attention of some of the local crime gangs causing them to put out a hit on the young vigilante. But it wasn't only the gangs whose attention Cal had caught. Seeing footage of Cal in his vigilante garb using his homemade gadgets captured in some amateur footage and then uploaded to Youtube. The man known as Ted Kord made his way to Gateway City in order to find this young vigilante. Recruiting Cal, the two managed to take down some of the city's major criminals before Ted decided it would be best to take Cal under his wing. While Ted didn't remain in Gateway City, he would communicate with Cal through his HUD and various holographic displays. Setting Cal up with a base and keeping him supplied, he kept an eye over the emerging vigilante until eventually introducing Cal to the League and subsequently enabling him to be inducted into the Young Justice Initiative.

NOTES:
 • Due to the way his memory works, Cal is often rewatching his favourite movies while holding conversations, or even rereading a book that he 'memorized'.

 • An extension of the above, Cal often uses numerous pop culture references ranging from phrases to gestures. His suit is even able to project sound and images allowing Cal to actually have battle music or walk into a room with a theme song playing.

 • Due to his abilities, it's very rare not to find Cal trying to build something out of whatever if let out and laying around. This compulsion has had him accused of being a kleptomaniac from time to time.

 • Enjoys snowboarding, surfing and skateboarding, often prompting him to attempt to build a 'hoverboard' like device. Cal also plans on building a jet pack one day.

 • Often makes up his own expressions and colloquialisms in addition to using those from fiction such as 'Schway'. 'Frak' and 'Shiny'. Cal's favourite term is describing some positive as 'Joss'.

 • A side effect of the above, Cal often explains things in 'Buffy Speak' in an attempt to reiterate complex ideas in a more relatable way for his teammates. However his manner of doing so often leads to them being more confused, especially due to his rapid manner of speaking. His vocabulary also devolves into 'Buffy Speak' if he becomes flustered or embarrassed.

 • Due to the way his abilities work, Cal enjoys food which have a stimulating effect on his brain, particularly caffeine. As such he is rarely found out of uniform without an energy drink, Cherry Coke, or Mountain Dew Code Red. Additionally Cal is a bit of a carnivore, craving red meat often and indulging in it when he can. His sweet tooth is often insatiable as well.

Yeah, but there is the fact that some people will prob drop out at some point, so if its 12 and 4 drop out, meh.

It my experience that's not the best way to look at it. I mean there's also a matter of quality and not every CS is going to have it. But the real matter here is why recruit people if you expect them to drop out, what if they don't drop out and the group is now too big for the plot KL had designed for this RP? There's also the possibility more than four drop out, I mean recruiting based around how many people may or may not drop out is just not a sound nor logically path.

Will we be pm'd if we make the cut? And in addition to that question, will it be 10 overall characters that make it? Or will it be 10 out of the new recruits?

I'm under the impression it's ten overall, at least I'm hoping it is as anymore than ten and the RP is going to be a little large for my liking.

If you get a new laptop, DO NOT get an HP or Compaq. They might be cheap, but they SUUUUUUUUUCK. Spend the extra 50 on a nice toshiba, dell, or Acer. The reason they suck is the north bridge is defective, and it'll become deattached from the board after awhile. Only way to fix that is to reflow the board or get a new computer.btw, I love taking apart Toshibas, unless they have a spiders nest in them.... yeesh.

Compaq I agree is cheap, HP's are generally fairly good so long as you don't buy the base models. I exclusively buy HPs and they last me years without problems. I would never ever consider buying an Acer though, Asus however I recommend.

In the end, you get what you pay for with computers, so naturally something like an Alienware is going to be far superior. I also don't like Macs but I rely on my computer being able to do AutoCAD which Macs aren't the best suited for. If I was doing Audio and Visual media then I'd get a Mac.
