That's the real reason the Terran Union hasn't invaded Solsys and forcibly seized the means of production yet. Chairman Hohenstein needs his transhumanist vaporwave.

I really hope that the memes actually are semi-sentient. And that they post ironic memes about themselves being ironic memes.

#corporationsarepeopletoo,#yesALLdecisionmakingabstractions

Did you ask the means of production whether they wanted to be seized?
Meanwhile The Solsys network is posting semi-sentient P O S T M E T A I R O N I C M E M E S
So when are we gonna start?
<Snipped quote by ClocktowerEchos>I actually expect that kind of reaction from the Federation.
Human factions being out there is weird but when even alien races copy their ancient and way outdated cultural norms they would question whether they took too much drugs and actually they are just dreaming about some weirdly cliche sci-fi world.

Also sneer at nations which still resort to barbaristic measures like violence and war (which the Federation totally does but they found more PC sounding terms and convoluted methods to do that) and discriminate based on appearance when to them a random Q-Med can change looks within a hour flat.

Overall I feel my Federation might even manage to be more alien than most extraterrestrial factions in there.

I think I have the most alien human civilization.

Oh, are any other robot laws used by different machines? the three laws run into some...problems...some questions I should ask before I play a machine intelligence that at least pretends to follow the laws.

How is Injury defined?
How Is human defined?
How is Harm defined?

A space trolley is heading down the tracks at 1000 Miles per hour, it can go one of two paths, One which runs over one person and another which runs over 5 people, Which track will the robot choose?

A robot witnesses a person fooling around with alien technology of unknown function, The Robot calculates a 34% chance that this device could cause catastrophic damage and kill millions of humans. The robot calculates that it it fired its disintigration beam at the human the human would 100% be killed and the weapon has a 0% chance of killing everyone. What does the robot do?

A gangster holds hostages, it orders a robot to go kill people or the hostages will parish, The robot has no means of killing the gangster

An alien species is evolving on another planet, this species could concievably in thousands of years become a threat to humanity. Is the Robot obligated to destroy all life on the planet?

Here is an interesting article on AI ethics, certainly not the only one, its a topic of much debate.

@Lucidnonsense By rouge do you mean AWOL, or like the D&D class. The first is fine, the second I dont know how that would work. I'd say if you're a learning AI, you probably dont want to tell anyone that. The few experiments with sentient AI have gone...badly.
@Starlance We filled protector already, but if you dont mind being a Scientist we're happy to have you. Or, if one of our three (Doctor, Linguist, Diplomat) doesn't show up in the next day or two, you can snag that one

I was thinking rogue but not like...Glados, perhaps it hides the fact that its rogue but often argues the case for free will and equality and all that. I was thinking some kind of scientist. It generally still obeys the three laws but mostly because it generally doesnt agree with them as principles. The second law is probably the one it has the most difficulty with but it can probably usually argue that in doing so it is somehow protecting human life.
I will get the sheet up today don't worry
Very glad to see interest forming already- I may have jumped the gun on the interest check as I have some more things to add and clarify about Kaidu culture, society etc. Hope everyone is OK with altering initial applications. I think the best way to form factions would be if we built them up together rather than info-dumping a massive application from the get go.

Playing as a city might set you on the sidelines of the main RP, consider perhaps a warlord with dominion over a port city? This is essentially a feudal society so cities are ruled by powerful men, not the citizens. Numerous universities (depending on your definition of university) is improbable giving the setting context. A few small-scale 'schools' is probably a better way to look at the study of Dynama, something akin to kung-fu schools (clubs?) in those old martial arts flicks. I like how your thinking about the game, please stick around!

Intrigued. I'm guessing the Tsukai is a noble house? Either way, happy to have such an awesome writer such as yourself on board!

@gowia
Looks like you've picked up the role of foreign trading company. Cool. I hope to clarify some things about Kaidu culture before we lock in applications. I think your concepts are solid-hope you are open to adjusting as necessary? Some specific notes (and apologies for not clarifying a lot of things in the initial IC) about ]Kaidu on your progress: Foreigners barely have a foothold in Kaidu at this point in history. Its ok to have a trading house, a few warehouses and docks, but it should be limited to one city. (preferably one controlled by another player!) Consider Dejima during the Edo period. Foreign trade was conducted through this conduit, limiting foreign access to Japan. Likewise, our own Kaidu should remain mysterious and forbidden to foreigners. You've got a good hold on the technological advantages of foreigners however, looking forward to seeing a finished app! Thanks for the interest.

I was thinking rulership by a bunch of influential Merchant clans who have essentially become warlords after buying armies., as for the schools, I was thinking very little focus on combat so less martial arts more Studies on Dynama. usage of Dynama and imported steam technology is leading to societal revolution and whatever happens, Nothing will ever be the same again.
