The worst thing about mental illness is you have to look after yourself a disgusting amount. I know it's the only way to actually be in a fit state to look out for others, but it still feels wrong.

Judging by the Internet's definitions of introversion and extraversion, you'd think everyone's either an extreme hermit or a party animal with no in between.

Bio

A frazzled British thirtysomething cat mum with something of a tea addiction.

I like a wide range of RP genres, but have two absolute favourites: Pokemon and magical girls. (If someone manages to combine the two, I'll be VERY happy!) I post fairly regularly, but sometimes shit mental health days crop up - if that causes any delays, I'll try to resume posting ASAP.

Humming an upbeat tune, Cici followed, only looking back to check that Forte was behind her. Dulcet had settled on her shoulder again. "Well, the adventure truly begins," she said, petting the Swablu, then looking over her other shoulder at Forte.

As she turned her head, the guitar case on her back bumped against Dulcet, who squawked her displeasure. "Ah! Sorry," Cici said as the Swablu fluttered into the air, choosing to fly by her side rather than perch.

When she arrived at the familar building, she pulled out her Pokedex and flipped it open. 22 trainer points already. Letting out a slight laugh at the pleasant surprise, she headed into the building. A few minutes later, she emerged with four Pokeballs. According to the Pokedex, one of the requirements she needed for the next rank was a team of six.

"You want to pick up anything else?" she asked Tommy. He'd probably have enough for more items by now.

♥ Ellanor "Ella" Beaufort ♥

Location: Feyhollow Town

There the Pokemon was, in its usual spot by the bins outside the pageant hall. It peered out with wide, cautious eyes. When it recognised Ella, its apprehension faded, and it hopped towards her with a happy cry.

"Hey, little buddy!" Ella bounded over, pink hair bouncing around her shoulders. Despite the heavy backpack she carried, her footsteps felt light. She was free now, free to begin her journey, and she knew which Pokemon she wanted to be her first. "I got you something." Crouching down, she reached into the pocket of her oversized, threadbare denim jacket. It wasn't so much a pocket as a bright green rag she'd sewn on, but it was useful for storing items. She pulled out a Poketreat, unwrapped it and fed it to the Trubbish. Instead of throwing the wrapper away, she tied it into her hair like a ribbon. Why waste something that glinted such a pretty gold colour in the light?

As the Pokemon gobbled up the food, Ella watched in adoration. Those eyes, those twitching ragged ears, what was there not to like about it? Ok, a rubbish bag Pokemon could smell rather unpleasant, but the Trubbish never released a stench around her. So why did Pokemon such as this one often get overlooked? Oh well, it was other people's loss.

"I have something else, too." Removing her backpack, Ella took out one of her new items. The Trubbish let out another excited cry at the sight of the Pokeball. "How about it? Want to come along?" Pressing its face against the Pokeball, the Trubbish disappeared into it.

"Yes!!" Ella jumped up, holding the Pokeball in the air, her knee-length patchwork dress flowing as she practically danced on the spot. A passer-by stopped, staring in disbelief, wrinkling her nose and shaking her head before walking on. Ignoring her, Ella looked at the Pokeball. "You know what they say, one man's trash..." She thought for a moment. "Hey, that's it! I know just what to call you. Come on, Treasure. This is gonna be a big day."
Name: Ellanor "Ella" Beaufort
Age: 18
Starting Location: Feyhollow Town
Rank: Beginner
Organisation:

Appearance: Ella stands at the average height of 5'5", with slightly tanned skin and brown eyes. Her unremarkable features would cause her to fade into a crowd if not for her hair (dyed bright pink, naturally blonde) and the way she dresses. She always has a somewhat dishevelled, mismatched look. Her mother tells her it's a shame, she could be pretty if she dressed better, but she doesn't listen. She likes wearing what she wears, and adding her own touch to things, whether it's giving an elegant skirt a ragged edge, replacing lost buttons on a jacket with ones that don't quite match, or making a necklace out of soda can tabs. Her favourite item of clothing is a patchwork dress she made herself from fabric scraps of many clashing colours and patterns.

Biography: Up until now, Ella has lived her entire life in Feyhollow. Her father was often away while she was growing up, and he still is, leaving her with her mother, who works as one of Feyhollow's beauty show judges. During her teenage years, Ella worked at weekends and over the school holidays as a cleaner in the hall, and often watched the shows her mother judged. As she watched more and more performances, she noticed something.

Yes, the shows were certainly impressive, but many trainers tended to use the same Pokemon in the same way. The emphasis in Feyhollow seemed to be on a rather narrow definition of cuteness. She liked the typical fairy types well enough, but why were there some Pokemon nobody seemed to use?

Her mother, disappointed in what she saw as her lack of taste, tried unsuccessfully to get her to be more like her two older sisters. They would have a chance of following in her footsteps as judges, whereas Ella wouldn't. Ella knew what she wanted to do, though. People laughed when she mentioned this, but her dream was to travel the region, working towards a specific goal.

The shows she'd grown up watching had given her an interest in something bigger, something she'd only ever seen on TV but longed to take part in herself. Contests seemed to allow much more freedom, many more kinds of Pokemon and moves than what she was used to seeing. The ideal life for her was that of a coordinator.

One day, after work, she noticed one of the rubbish bags moving. It turned out not to be a rubbish bag at all, but a Pokemon, a Trubbish. Delighted to see a Pokemon that didn't often appear in her hometown - from what she knew about Trubbishes, they were more common in larger, more polluted areas - she couldn't resist spending a while playing with it. When it followed her home, her mother didn't react well, to say the least. Putting her foot down, she forbade Ella from becoming a trainer or coordinator if she was just going to reflect badly on the family by befriending such Pokemon. Nonetheless, Ella continued to feed and play with the Trubbish in secret, recognising it by its slightly ragged ears.

Her luck turned around on her eighteenth birthday, when her aunt, who supported her dreams, gave her a Pokedex and a Pokeball. Her mother was far from happy, but Ella was growing up and she couldn't stop her leaving home. After a few days of heated arguments, Ella set out to leave her old life behind her and see what the world had in store.

Personality: Ella has that type of bubbly energy that some people find fun, and others find annoying. After years of dreaming, she's eager to explore the region and befriend Pokemon, growing as a trainer and coordinator. She's viewed as having odd taste - she'll openly express how adorable she finds that Stunky, or how that Weezing's Smog is the most beautiful thing she's ever seen - which can weird people out. She doesn't mind too much, though. She just wants to bring out the best in all Pokemon.

Cici took the last sip of her coffee. "Yeah, variety's a good idea," she replied. As much as she liked electric types, she was also open to the idea of catching any Pokemon as long as she got along with them.

The twinge of self-doubt from the conversation with Sarah hadn't fully faded, though. That comment about her lack of effort... Could she really be a successful trainer? Pokemon were good, loyal friends, more so than humans were to each other, but could she take on the responsibility of having over two hundred of them? No matter how much she told herself it didn't matter what other people thought, former friends had a tendency to get under each other's skin.

"Anyway, yeah," she said, standing up. "You ready?"

Yes. Go ahead. I'll approve it as soon as I can, tonight before sleep, or tomorrow after work.

Thanks, I'll reply to Zarkun's post, then submit my second character.

Edit: Submitted. I thought a Cinderella archetype would be fitting for Feyhollow. Though as a coordinator who uses unconventional Pokemon, she's more like a mix of Cinderella and the fairy godmother.
@Noxx It won't be a Showdown thing, but there may be some trouble with another admin. There will be other NPCs helping out with pretty high level teams.
@Balthazar007 Is it alright if I create my character? It would be a while until she got into a contest anyway... she'd kind of need some Pokemon first.
@Noxx Yeah, and the event could happen in the near-ish future if Mistress Hollow is going to be in Vareena.

I have stuff planned for Vareena, so yes, the tension is going to go down... for a while. I won't let on exactly what's going to happen, but Mistress Hollow may have to actually battle again.
@fer1323 Sophia will try to explain the best she can, but probably won't be all that coherent.
@Heckno12 Yeah, I'm liking the way some fields in Reborn boost certain attacks. That electric gym...

So, Day 3 soon. I think Sophia's going to be the first to challenge the gym, because of that first impression she gave Lan. She'll still be in a bad way, but she'll push herself.
@Noxx Ok, take as much time as you need.

@Heckno12 What have you done?!?!? You've gone and gotten me addicted to Reborn. Seriously, from what I've played of this game, it's better than the official ones. And gritty for a Pokemon game!

I did accidentally KO a shiny Poochyena, though. Rrrgh...
