The worst thing about mental illness is you have to look after yourself a disgusting amount. I know it's the only way to actually be in a fit state to look out for others, but it still feels wrong.

Emeth: Then I'll be that friend who's the opposite kind of annoying, whispering "Do it, you know you want to..."

Judging by the Internet's definitions of introversion and extraversion, you'd think everyone's either an extreme hermit or a party animal with no in between.

Bio
A frazzled British thirtysomething cat mum with something of a tea addiction.
I like a wide range of RP genres, but have two absolute favourites: Pokemon and magical girls. (If someone manages to combine the two, I'll be VERY happy!) I post fairly regularly, but sometimes shit mental health days crop up - if that causes any delays, I'll try to resume posting ASAP.
@Noxx There'll be no need for Showdown for random NPC battles (unless you want to, and in that case, Heckno or I could throw together a team). You can just make it up and write it out, like a wild battle.
Sophia glared. Great, just great. Not only had she just run into that arrogant jerk again, he now had a Ralts of all Pokemon. A Ralts who seemed to be telling him her exact emotional state. All her doubts, all her insecurities, were laid bare for her rival to know about.
"Nothing... It's nothing," Sophia responded with a scowl. "I don't need another one of your lectures." With a glance at Oscar's new Pokemon, she thought over the techniques she knew to guard her mind against other psychics, but right now she could barely concentrate. Knowing she was upsetting Daisho brought a surge of guilt, which was only likely to distress him further. Taking a deep breath, she tried thinking about the Chimecho's soothing song, but that just made her feel like a child who needed comforting.
She took a step away from the Ralts. Why was she being so hopeless right now? She wasn't supposed to be like this.
She'd been about to make her excuses and get away when Rheese caught up. At his words, Sophia froze in place, eyes darting around as if she were looking for some space to crawl into and hide. His attempt to comfort her had just revealed to Oscar exactly what had happened. Not only had she lost the battle, she'd given up. How was she going to save face now?
"It-It was just bad luck!" she blurted, barely able to look Oscar in the eye. "I'll have you know I was doing pretty well at first!" She knew all too well, though, that he'd see right through the front she put up, especially with the new addition to his team.
As another young adult, similarly injured, arrived on the scene, Solanna couldn't help but feel awful about getting away from the hospital earlier instead of trying to help. Remembering the Ralts, she tried to suppress the feeling. These people would be ok... wouldn't they? She knew, though, that some of the most painful wounds were emotional ones.
"Whimsicott," she said to the fluffy sheep beside her. "Go over and cheer her up." As Whimsicott approached the girl, Solanna watched her lean down and gently pet the Pokemon on the head, the icy front starting to thaw.
It was obvious Sophia's spiky attitude hid all manner of self-doubts. What had happened, though, to make her that way?
Solanna cracked up laughing. "They're already good at teamwork, by the looks of it," she commented. "And I'm sure you'll do great. Just..." She paused, a more serious look settling over her face. "Be careful out there."
She whirled around as, out of the corner of her eye, she saw somebody. A distressed-looking brunette, ruffles and ribbons flapping as she ran along the path. Her skin sported many bruises, as well as bandages here and there. Another girl rushed after her, a blonde, seemingly older than her.
"Ah!" Solanna stared ahead. "What happened?" From the look of the brunette, she was likely to have been one of the people in the hospital earlier. One of the people caught up in the Team Noble incident.
A simple loss would have been bad enough, but getting completely and utterly crushed in front of everyone was quite another. She could feel her face heating up, her body trembling.
She couldn't let her weakness show any more than she just had. She had to pull herself together. She was meant to be disciplined, self-controlled, like she'd tried to become over the years... But there were so many things she was meant to be, and so many things she wasn't.
As she came to a corner, she slowed, panting. Her sides had flared up, and a scab on her knee was pulling badly. She leaned against a wall, still shuddering, as the blonde girl caught up with her.
"I'm fine," Sophia insisted. She didn't need this. She didn't need to be pitied.
She raised her head at another voice asking what had happened. A woman in her early twenties, with bright red hair and a floral blouse, looked at her in alarm. At the sight of the person next to her, Sophia cringed.
The last person she wanted to see her in her current state was Oscar.
