Bio

Current GM of World of Light. When it comes to writing, there's nothing I love more than imagination, engagement, and commitment. I'm always open to talk, suggestion, criticism, and collaboration. While I try to be as obliging, helpful, and courteous as possible, I have very little sympathy for ghosts, and anyone who'd like to string me along. Straightforwardness is all I ask for.

Looking for more personal details? I'm just some dude from the American south; software development is my job but games, writing, and trying to help others enjoy life are my passions. Been RPing for over a decade, starting waaaay back with humble beginnings on the Spore forum, so I know a thing or two, though I won't pretend to be an expert. If you're down for some fun, let's make something spectacular together.

The golem listened passively as the spirits within Emily briefly argued. Though time had seemed to freeze for the pair, shutting out the entirety of existence except for the few cubic meters of air they occupied, the world moved along around them. Passing Workers regarded the odd pair, a young human with her hand pressed upon their fellow's chest, with looks of incredulity when their faced would allow it. None of them attempted to interrupt what was happening however; they flowed around the disturbance, like water around a stone. “I am Peridot,” the Worker responded after it was sure that Emily had finished communing with it. “The outside world is of little concern with us, but if there is anything that might pose danger to our city, you had best consult the Journeymen. They reside in the Sestet, a hall roughly halfway up the mountain. I do not know what it might take to join our 'spiritual network', as you put it, but if you remain in our city I feel obliged to tell you of our Blessings. Our noontide Blessings are glorious for the inhabitants of this city, as they invigorate us with the life-force necessary to sustain our existence, but for outsiders they might pose an inconvenience. Exposure to even a single Blessing will convert living tissue into mechanism. It begins with a part, like a forearm, an eye, or a hip, but repeated exposure to the holy magic will convert a living being entirely into a golem.” Time began to speed up. The general hubbub of Monolith again fell on the ears of Emily, and reverberated within Peridot's head. The Worker took a step back, and inclined its head slightly in a standard gesture of respect. It spoke normally now, with sparks spilling out from beneath its faceplate. “The next Blessing will wash over our city in...” It paused, looking down at its heartlight. The light came, then vanished, at an thoroughly unimpressive speed. “One hour. If you hurry, you may reach the Sestet and conclude your business with the Journeymen before the Blessing arrives. Travel far, Emily.” With that, Peridot started off to resume its labor.
Does it have to be teammates? I feel like if anyone would be trying to take Diamond down it would be someone like Rayna :D Then again if ti comes to an attempt on her life Mokuren comes to mind.
Yes, teammates. The idea is that it is totally unexpected, a shocking betrayal, for motives completely hidden. @Sixsmith No problem, take all the sleep you need.
I'll get something up later today, assuming all goes well.
I assume things went poorly?
It's done. Kaithas, Sixsmith, and Skyrte, you're on in five. I hope you all enjoy the new contest I've made.
At long last, the bell tolled once more. The students, lost in their technology, disputes, education, and combat, had allowed a full hour to slip by. Some left their respective classes sporting bruises and scratches gleaned from their vicious duels against Professor Port's captured Creatures of Grimm; others bore wounds far less obvious and far more impactful. The enemies and alliances made in the year's first Armory class would endure for some time, but exactly how much time those scars would fester was up to the individual. Would they on both sides of the flaring confrontation allow grudge, resentment, prejudice to dictate their further interaction throughout the year? Or would they forgive, and instead focus on the lighter, more companionable side of intimacy? Abel, for one, greeted the bell with a groan. Lost in the battles raging both inside the Grimm Studies classroom and out on the terrace, he had forgotten all notion of time. The liveliness of the class made the whole thing seem like less of a forced learning regimen and more like a party, though the guardian had never allowed himself to become too hyped, lest he also forget why he was here. As he walked from the room, heading to 5th period and the esoteric outdoor classroom of Professor Vorosky's Survival class, he dredged up details from each of the fights that had taken place. First had been the wendigo cub, whose intelligence and cunning had melted into pure rage and given Ben an ultimately easy victory. There was surely something to be learned from that, and not just about Grimm. Next was Aurellius's near-psychotic, ultra-manly beatdown against the Sitting Bull. Following that was Jack's skirmish against the Broodling, and despite the spider-like Grimm's best attempt to slow him down with acid and webbing, it had been utterly flummoxed by the dagger-wielder's uncanny speed. After that, Abel himself had been selected, and found himself pitted against a vicious Harpy. That particular battle had lasted only seconds. A lightning bolt from the Ampere practically reduced the thing to cinders, which was neither entertaining nor educational for anyone, and Abel regretted not being a better sport. Finally, a reluctant Diamond had been called upon to destroy an Itzamna, and after a little initial trouble, managed to gain a height advantage and form what looked like her shadow into a bludgeon. After that, she had actually knocked it out with a tap to the base of the skull, instead of killing it. Despite Diamond's act of passivity, Abel found himself noting want to get on the girl's bad side, and was sure that if she had a fair rematch with Mokuren, that she would be the victor. His thoughts shifted to Survival class as he walked. It had been an obvious pick for him, but what exactly did it entail, he wondered.
Just a note, after my initial posting for the Contest I realized that I'd not placed any headwear for Avendell and so I went back and added a headscarf that she uses in battle to protect her face from her own dust attacks. If you didn't go back and reread it yesterday you wouldn't have seen it. Just thought I'd let you know.
Gotcha, thanks for the fix. Scarifar, check the link on the OP in the future, but use this for now.

Catherine 'Kitty' Boot - Coral - Warrior A scrappy short-haired Hispanic redhead with a catlike face that's never without either anger or fear. The tips of her feline ears are shredded into tufts. Her heavily-muscled body is clothed in a tight-fitting doublet, hose, and large boots. In place of her severed cat tail is a larger, robotic one, which is her weapon since it can extend to impale or spin to drill. She also wields a collapsible wandlike baton. Her semblance is Nine Hells, which she is not aware of and is always active at a low level. It makes those around her angry. Paron 'Rumple' Skaft - Russet - Support / Mage A short, thin young man with shoulder-length coppery hair, fancy brown attire, and a proud attitude. His eyes are light brown, growing into a piercing green around the pupil, which itself is green. His features are sharp, and his nose beaklike. A high color and ruffles make his outfit distinctive. He wields the Aurum Jenny, a yoyo with golden thread that builds explosive force by spinning, and his semblance is Go Beyond, which can boost the power of another semblance. This boost can be overdone, causing the target to lose control over their powers. Leah 'Gale' Dorothy - Liver - Tank / Scout Thistle 'Lady' Mallory-Pheasant - Thistle - Mage / Gunslinger A well-built black girl with strikingly green hair and a purple-and-black dress so intricate as to be a robe. She is aloof and condescending, but capable of nasty outbursts of rage and spite. Her dust implants allow her to create and control plants, mostly vines and brambles, while she wields a razor-beaked mechanical raven of her own creation as her weapon. Her semblance is 'Scream Resonance'. If she cries out in pain, whoever inflicted that pain on her (including groups) is returned an equal amount of pain, but not the associated injuries.

Pan Neverell - Pistachio – Scout Young-looking blond boy with strangely pointy ears, wielding an ordinary cutlass. His semblance allows him to animate his shadow, which has a semblance of his own (flight) and wields the shadow of his cutlass. Quiet and dreamy, he doesn't seem to believe there are faults in anybody. Hansen Forrester - Hazel – Tank Big, fat boy in forrest-green cargo shorts, a vertically striped white shirt, suspenders, and some purple armor. He wields the Liar Bone, a skeletal halberd that can transform into a net launcher. His semblance is Breadcrumbs, which allows him to find things that are lost. He is a bit of a bully, and can be very unpleasant especially when encountered with his sister. Gretchen Forrester – Ghost White - Assassin Pudgy girl in the same attire as her brother, though she wears a skirt rather than shorts. Her brown hair is done into a side-ponytail. She wields the Witch's Brand, a flaming cattle prod. Her semblance is Netherworld, which allows her to turn invisible. She is every inch as sarcastic a pushy goof-off as her brother, potentially even nastier. Mary Ovisaries - Maroon – Gunslinger A tall, lanky sheep faunus in blue jeans, a red tank top, and a red cape. She wields the Shepard's Compass, a six-pronged spinblade to be thrown through the air. Her semblance is Lost and Found, which returns all thrown objects to her hands. Expect her to be outgoing and perky, though not without a slightly crazy side.

The winner of the second contest is Prince of Seraphs, with Avendell Hallins, who wins PoS two credits. Naturally, the runner-up is TentacleLord's Slate Jian, who receives a single credit for his efforts. Both were excellent concepts, with the obsessions clearly being the destruction of the White Fang and becoming a hero, respectively. Next time, however, make sure that all aspects of the prompt are followed through. Avendell, for instance, lacked any sort of headwear/gear, and I needed to look at Slate's bio to see where controlling/debilitating others comes on.
Challenge #3 - Takedown
Judge: Lugubrious Type: Writing challenge Deadline: Friday March 6th, afternoon Your task is to take the provided prompt and craft a 3rd-person, non-canon short story involving your Heroes of Beacon character based around it. The minimum length for this challenge is 700 words. The maximum is 2300 words. Good luck, and have fun! Prompt: It is halfway through the first semester. Seemingly out of nowhere, one of your character's teammates has made an attempt on your character's life. After the failure of the initial assassination attempt, the traitor explains their motive and engages your character in combat. How this scenario ends, which teammate betrays you, and why, is up to you. For the purpose of motives, you can create some history that happened during the school year thus far, but the traitor's motives should remain totally hidden to your character.
Very well. I'll get us started, both on 5th period and the third contest. Congrats to PoS for winning the second, by the way.
Shall we execute a timeskip in Grimm Studies then and move on to 5th period then?
