Bio

Current GM of World of Light. When it comes to writing, there's nothing I love more than imagination, engagement, and commitment. I'm always open to talk, suggestion, criticism, and collaboration. While I try to be as obliging, helpful, and courteous as possible, I have very little sympathy for ghosts, and anyone who'd like to string me along. Straightforwardness is all I ask for.

Looking for more personal details? I'm just some dude from the American south; software development is my job but games, writing, and trying to help others enjoy life are my passions. Been RPing for over a decade, starting waaaay back with humble beginnings on the Spore forum, so I know a thing or two, though I won't pretend to be an expert. If you're down for some fun, let's make something spectacular together.

Hey guys, how does the Unsubtle get off the floating Island Beacon's on?

Airships.
Gloria's actions will be something interesting to work around. Revel doesn't like it when his plans are interrupted, especially by someone on his side.
Having the Immortal's attention on him was, for Revel, equal parts terrifying and galvanizing. Though never one to back away from taking the field, he hosted an instinct he assumed thoroughly commonplace among humans: to back away when faced by a god. Based upon his stunning earlier display of predicting mere seconds into the future, the string-puller had rather expected his makeshift plan to fail, but miraculously his wires spared the life of the young magician. Noting this, to make sure that MicWiz remembered this debt later, Revel honed in all of his focus on the crazy-powerful being set to pound him into oblivion. At this point, the worst possible option to use was to attempt force. It pleased Revel to no end, however, to be at last fully in possession of an ingenious plan. This had been assured the very instant that the Immortal's words -let me end my suffering- met his ears.

With a gallant smile Revel raised his hands in placation. “Most powerful I don't doubt, but most threatening? Not this time. It is not my objective to threaten you.” The movement of the Chimera back in this direction, plus the manifestation of MicWiz's golem, all pointed toward the signs of an allied counterattack. Did they really think that Revel was not in control of the situation, that he was a mere distraction for them to get their attacks in? Fools. Their furor to destroy the Immortal blinded them to a more intelligent resolution, one that circumvented the eventuality of the entire team lying dead on the floor and the Immortal's self-immolating in a nuclear inferno. “There is as much use in contesting you physically as there is of normal humans surviving in a meltdown. My strength is elsewhere: the mind. I can predict the future with uncanny accuracy. Not that you'd be interested, of course...what's a mere ant obstructing your death crawl? Well, listen to this. You'll reduce us to smithereens one by one, then go for the reactor, expecting your aeons of torment to finally crumble into peaceful darkness. Problem is, you're going to survive. Hear that? You're going to live through the meltdown. Unfortunately, the radiation will be branded so deeply into your bones that every second will be pure agony, a thousand times worse than the depression that made you seek this.” Revel monitored his own voice carefully. These words were not precognition, but bluff. He was gambling on the Immortal's own instincts for self-preservation. “There is a way, however, that I can he-- oh, no.”

At that moment, Gloria sailed in in all her unwanted glory. The string-pullers excited heartrate instantly plummeted to a cold crawl. How could he not have foreseen this!? Before Revel could shout at her to stop, screaming that she was ruining a negotiation that could save all of their miserable skins, she forcibly introduced the Immortal's eyes to her knifeblades. Growling in anger, Revel discharged his whips, which lashed against Gloria's back and clung around her shoulders. “Stupid bitch!” He bellowed, and gave an outraged yank on the cords more than powerful enough to abruptly reunite Gloria with the ground if she didn't cling on to the very man she'd shanked or find a way to cut the cords. “Now he will not listen to reason, even if your stabbies bounced off his eyeballs! He will kill us all!” Hoping that the Immortal took his action against Gloria as a sign that he, at least, was on his side, Revel shouted at the meta while he backed away. “There is still a way to end this peacefully, to gain the peace you long for!”
Very nice, Lord Santa! Your spellcrafting was right on the money. If you feel like it, you can make modifications to his personality to make him something you'll enjoy more. For instance, in another RP I'm in, which partially inspired some of Protea's magic, I have a character with an unfortunate past and dark powers, but he hides his pain beneath constant cheeriness and laughter and focuses instead on doing what he enjoys.

Good stuff, reddy.
Ok, thanks.

Another question, any good wars happened on Protea? Actually, what about the history of Protea?

Here's my stance on history: you can make some stuff up, and after you've done so I'll determine if any edits need to be made. A long-time-go war is the one mentioned in Mortalbean's character's bio, while more recent ones include the wars against the New Coven and the Sovereignty. Still-ongoing ones are those between the Hallowed Commonwealth and the Legion of Flies on Spinel, and between the Colonies of the Solstice and the wild on Tourmaline.
Sorry, I am on edge too, and most of that should not have been channeled into this. It's my job to include myself in the RP if I wanted to, it just worked out strangely.

No problem! I'm sorry to have kept you waiting, but when you're ready, you're absolutely free to get going. Thank you for understanding!

(I'll be editing the other character into this post, I'm tired right now and have generally had a shitty day so this will be all for now. Feel free to leave feedback about Lapizus thought, he doesn't add much to lore so if I change anything I'll probably add more world building stuff to him.)

Excellent! I have no critique to offer on this right now, though you might put a short description of the swords mentioned in his picture into his fighting style.

That's a bit harsh.

After I was accepted, I was told to wait to intro my character until after 6th period which we would skip. I check every day for a few days of people finishing up 5th period, no problem.

We decide to not skip 6th, so I get to spend another several days reading an argument over a music class while waiting.

I tire of waiting to join a RP with such up-tight people with schedules and specific intro timings that characters must wait for. God forbid I stop checking OOC arguments daily to make sure I don't miss the moment I am asked to 'get ready'.

And "wonder why they're together" is a bit of a narcissistic quip, as you are the one who placed me.

I've had my intro post ready for weeks; I'm busy waiting on you to deem the moment appropriate.

But that matters little, as the OOC is full of GMs fighting and complaining about perfect post times, I've lost the desire to participate.

Aw, I meant that quip as a joke, full aware of why you're there. I admit that I was an asshole, and not very funny, but there's no need to exaggerate. I feel bad for making you feel bad. I don't suppose that saying that I'm trying to prepare myself for five AP tests will show why I'm on edge? You just had the misfortune to join right when a bunch of people are bailing, which rocked the boat a bit. I thought I mentioned four days ago that you were clear to post, but it'd be just my luck if I forgot and stirred your anger further. If you're going to let this get you down, I'm sorry you feel that way, but I'll wish you godspeed good sir.
Playing with Revel is fun because I can try to predict what the GM's purpose is in his actions before he reveals it.
When the Immortal appeared only a few meters away, Revel could barely keep himself from jumping in surprise. “Good grief, I only saw a few seconds forward? How terrible!” Revel composed himself and leaped backwards, clearing the way for MicWiz to summon his tank. It was an impressive feat; no sense in risking himself on the front lines if someone else was intent on being the main event. Instinctively, the string-puller loosed the muscles that controlled his whips, preparing to fire them out. He had barely accomplished this, however, when a new report flashed in his mind. When he threw out his whips to wrap around the Immortal's body, they would restrain him for mere seconds before succumbing to his hyper strength and ripping apart like weeds in the hand of a grim gardener. Even electrifying them wouldn't buy enough time, and even if Revel decided to make the sacrifice anyway, relying upon his crack team of metas to take the initiative, he'd be disarmed. This perilous situation courted death in a multitude of ways, but Revel knew better than to let the stress get to him. He lived for these rushes. There was nothing so satisfying than defeating an ultra-powered meta with wits—brain over brawn of the highest calibre.

So thinking, Revel jumped back again, trusting MicWiz's barrage to keep the Immortal back. He sidled up to the wizard and warned, “After he bops our Chimera between the eyes he'll go for you to stop this magic at the source. I'm going to place a trap around you. When he swoops down to hit you, dive forward, not backward. I'll take care of it.” So saying, Revel loosened his whips and shot them upward toward the ceiling. After letting out some slack, he laid it around MicWiz's feet, and stepped away. It was not his intention to try and snare the Immortal; rather, he would pull his electrified cables taught and let Revel hit them. Hard things could be broken with concussive force, but soft things like cords had to cut or pulled apart by tension. Revel predicted that if the Immortal punched his stretched whips, he'd get a numbing shock, but the cables would be unharmed. An invincible being's nerves couldn't be destroyed, but with the right impulse, they could be jolted into acting randomly. Plus, if the Immortal saw the trap and went to disable it, he'd leave himself wide open.

More information poured into Revel's head, but this cache held only one, dreadful secret. Beneath the cyan tint of his goggles, his eyes widened in alarm. “Looks like the Immortal doesn't want to be immortal any longer. He's going to try to blow up the reactor with himself inside, in hopes of ending his miserable existence.” This comment was made more to himself than anyone else, but anybody in his immediate vicinity would hear it, too.
