Yep, these are all the ones you need to know about, yessir. I've found that they can also pass as food much like a normal apple, but aside from the plain seeds, you probably wouldn't want to. Obviously, I'll need to make a detour to list out special statuses, but that'll be sometime after orbs if not next. Other items will have to be addressed later, maybe recorded as they come up in the RP. Gummies specifically might not have a place in this RP format, but I may need to hear a second opinion on that. I wanted to get that quick update on the items, in this case the basic food items, before moving onto the seeds and then orbs (of which I may have to review to determine which ones can translate well into an RP environment). On the food, it all does suggest at least an addressing of hunger within dungeons, but I would prefer to carry over the mechanic over into the everyday to the best of my ability. I'm sorta dipping my toes into some management mechanics, and food stocks could be just one of the signs of the settlement's health.

Item descriptions are likely to be shorter because, aside from the bits in the beginning where I couldn't help myself, I do want to get to the point for anyone looking these up as a quick reference. While setting this up, I gave thought to the possibility of cooked meals with both recipes and added benefits as well as more base foods, and I'm willing to take a stab at implementing such things when more of the base game is finished. Lately I've been pondering over the the greater implementation of items in the RP, and this setup does give me some ideas for taking stock of items in shops and the like. Course, if I want it to be possible for players to set up businesses of their own, then I'd wager it best to get many item descriptions out of the way first so no one feels pressured to write them out all the time or something. That might be next up.

It touches deep into the heart of how this RP would be run, so it's pretty important to read. As always, let me know if there's something I forgot to consider.

I'm thinking it best to detail what I'm aiming for with this so we're all on the same page. It's easy for me to imagine that just about everyone is a great deal more familiar with group RPs than I am and likely have encountered something like this. But for anyone less acquainted, I'll explain it all as best I can and attempt to execute the feature as smoothly as possible, for whatever an assurance like that is worth. This is what I have in mind as of prior to the RP actually starting, so there may be some refinements made over the course of the RP's life. I'll try and update this section in such an event should that be warranted.

365 Days / 4 Seasons

365 Days / 4 Seasons

The title says it all there. Firstly, I really want to dabble with full years of 365 days. On the one hand, this might not be advisable given the complications that come with so many days to consider. At the same time, my brain cannot fathom working with a fraction of the days, especially where character ages are concerned (more about that in the section for CSs specifically). The aim is for at least one complete in-game year to pass by the time the RP is over.

Secondly, each year is to be divided into the 4 seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. I'm far too simpleminded to consider calendars of uneven complexity, so in this case it helps me in the long term to always 1) Have every year essentially begin with Spring and end with Winter, and 2) Keep every season with exactly the same number of days. Is the latter possible? Yes, barely so with just one extra day left over. This extra, standalone day will likely be positioned at the true start of the year, a "New Year's Day" (unless anyone thinks of a better name) before proceeding into the first day of Spring and so on.

All in all, expect all 4 seasons to have 91 days each, totaling 364 days following "New Year's Day" at the start of the year. I get that this might all be an oversimplification, but as of now, I'm not quite recognizing the need for things like months and weeks, let alone what said things add or how they fit in this particular PMD setting. Anyone can make the case for alterations to this feature if they want, but as of writing this, that is the plan moving forward.

Again, sorry for the inadequate name. Anyway, in a prominent position in the first post of the IC (In Character) thread, there will be a display on which I'll put down the current active week of the RP and beside it the span of time encompassed within the game. Since ideally I'm only asking for a post a week at least from any player, then likely the first section will appear as "Week of MM/DD" where "DD" is the Monday starting the work week. Under this method, my work on the update post that will, if nothing else, help move the RP along, should be done by the end of Sunday and be posted on Monday along with the update to the Tracker.

The second section is looking to include the current season followed by a set number of days. The current year feels rather superfluous here but might also be included. These are the days in which players can feature as part of the backdrop for their subsequent posts. Keep in mind that there will be weeks where a major event will occur in the story (including dungeon runs), meaning the time elapsed will be quite short if at all. Other weeks, we all may agree on a longer span to pass and there may only be a general update from me about certain parts of the world (given that there are moving parts that need updating).

Organization on the players' part helps me greatly, and while I don't want to burden anyone more than is necessary, post headers that address the "where" and the "what" will be greatly appreciated and encouraged. I've found that as a player, I do not handle posting "free for alls" very well. It is a personal failing of course. If I was wise enough to not have former RPs wind up finding that out about me the hard way, then I would have done so. Nevertheless, I intend to ask for ETAs out of players yet to post and patiently wait for anyone needing that little extra time. This might be my first time GMing after all, it is a marathon, not a sprint.

I hope that explains it all pretty well. The further I go into this project, the more I realize that there are more and more things that need addressing for prospective players to make that informed decision, hence why I've publicly shied away from putting my foot down on a release date. The world was once blessed with a radiant light, from majestic beings of wondrous might. The land, sea, skies and beyond, even as they are now, stand as testaments of their influence, lest we ever forget. Yet now, outside our grand sanctuary, the Fabled Ones are nowhere to be seen, and nature has been marred by turmoil in their absence. An accursed blight can further be seen from the heights of our domain, its dark cloud a reminder of how far the land has fallen. Still we survive, a faithful remnant preserved from the worst of the chaos by the guidance passed down to us by the Fire Keeper. Eagerly we await his return, the day in which his embers cleanse the land of such darkness, leaving us, his loyal ones, to rise from our burrows and lay claim to the surface in his name. But before that can happen, we must finally prove ourselves stronger than the blind fools that would defy the Makers, and drive every last one of them from Their mountains! In this, we must not fail!

Regardless of the magnificent miracle that had afforded the first Hollowers this chance at life, it would have been an opportunity cut all too short had it not been for the timely intervention of the Guiding Light. It's voice is what led them to these mountains, a safeguard from utter ruination, and has since beckoned us to dig deeper still. The Burning One is said to one day return and reap a terrible destruction upon the land, to finish what the Slumbering Giant had started, and its maniacal thralls have devoted themselves to their master's dark ambition. Now more than ever, it is vital that we foil their twisted machinations once and for all! That is why we follow the Light deeper into the depths, ever closer to our final salvation, where even the "Makers" dare not reach! Mark these words: Where we're going, we need not sunlight to see.

Look, I ain't gonna lie to you on this, things are looking pretty grim for ol' Aurora these days. Ya might be tempted to say her best years are behind her, and I'm not necessarily gonna stop ya. But what I will ask after is "D'ya think your best years are behind you?" know what I'm sayin'? Hear me out now, sure it was every mon for 'emself for a good while there _{(still is dependin' on where ya find yerself)}, and sure most of the top crews you'll find are some of the nastiest lot you'll ever meet. But when it comes right down to it, all we're doing is tryin' ta make the best out of a bad situation, yeah? And what "best" means in your case is entirely up to you. Take it from those of us who maybe weren't exactly the law-abiding sort even before Mantle blew its top off: This place is only a prison if you let it be _{(Or if ya look at certain mons the wrong way)}. The point is, it's all about perspective, ya get me?! Just look at me! I've never felt so free! Freer than I've been my whole life... So free in fact... there's no way I'll ever go back...

I was often second guessing how dark and morbid some of these guys sounded. At the same time a good writer can balance contrasts in mood and so forth, so there's never been a better time to try. I recognize that these "testimonials"(?) are more of a vibe gauge than something of definite substance. If you feel like I should lay down concrete details, then go ahead and tell me. Otherwise, I'm fine to move on from here.

For every good and upstanding crowd who's recognized that potential dangers can lie in even the smallest of shadows, that the glare of the Sun is a warning and not a challenge, that if the tide is scared enough to run away from the shore then obviously it knows something they don't, and that fortune favors those who take the road well traveled, there's at least one who dares to be different. Where some see the terrifyingly uncertain unknown, they see opportunity, opportunity to discover not just more about the world around them, but also their own limits, all the while helping their fellow pokémon in places where a helping hand is otherwise hard to come by. These are the very sort that Stampede have opened its doors to since all the way back in its earliest days. And thanks to the influx of bright eyed adventurers within the last several years, there's never been a better time to join your local affiliated guild, get out there, and truly make your mark on the world.

Hello again, guys. Still haven't given up yet, cuz I need something going in my favor. Anyway, "Locations Part 1" is ready to go I'd say. "Part 2" will likely have to contain some primary locations like towns and POIs, at least 2 per region before the RP starts. That may be next, but I've also been organizing my thoughts around the RP's factions (they've sort of bloated into about six not counting the players), and will absolutely start listing them out in their own section before the year is up. Some things might be subject to change, but overall I'm feeling pretty decent about all this. Apologies for the lateness of this one.

In the year 83, the biggest seismic event in all recorded history shook the prosperous landmass to its core. With the epicenter located directly within the then very active Mt. Mantle, the ensuing volcanic eruption and earthquake violently reshaped the very land under the feet of everyone who'd called the land home. Settlements were lost, their denizens scattered all throughout Aurora in the hopes of starting anew. Yet like in so many places in the aftermath of disasters, the number of wild pokémon have risen dramatically. Couple this with all those who've turned to crime in their desperation, and Aurora has largely remained resistant to committed restoration efforts right up until the year 128, when an eastbound expeditionary force made contact with the western coastal village of Tidal. Since then, even with the continued work of Stampede-affiliated guilds, there's only little more than a foothold to show against all the mysteries that still remain to be solved.

Background

A good deal has changed in the two decades since the Fearless Reach Expedition made landfall in the year 128, the sleepy, modest village of Tidal a long way from appreciating the sheer magnitude of the event's historic significance. To the lands beyond the the Shimmering Sea where the explorers came from, what started as a controversial bid to find an example of the "Outer Reaches" of the world ultimately led to an amazing discovery nevertheless. To the less than thirty strong Tidal natives, while hospitable enough, it was hard to decide how exactly to feel about the strange outsiders at first. Having isolated themselves on their lonely beach, mostly safe from the dangers that surrounded them, the successive impositions of these inquisitive explorers were a source of some anxiety and tension. Before long fortunately, the shared dream of reclaiming Aurora as a place where all can live peacefully once more had won out, paving the way for an alliance to make it a reality.

Background

As meager in number and limited in experience as the brave volunteers that initially made up the Daylight Brigade were, their maiden endeavor was greatly bolstered by the tireless efforts of some of the most dedicated explorers of Stampede as well as some of the most adventurous supporters from within Lucky Koban, that of journeying deeper east, the first step in the journey back to Mt. Mantle. The first leg of said journey was more than clear at the time, and in the year 136 a joint convoy would forge a path into the Meridians. The rugged mountain range had long been enshrouded in mystery even before the eruption, the aftermath of which rendering an even darker shadow over it for many travelers. Yet as the convoy would come to find in the seasons that followed the establishment of Fort Harmony, the range's greatest kept secrets were watching them from among the very mountains that towered over them. As it turned out, the Meridians were contested lands, the stage of a rivalry since well before the eruption, and the Brigade would find themselves right in the middle of it for many years to come.

Region 3 - Northeastern Scar

Background

While given many names over the years, "Northeastern" is the official name the rest of the world recognizes in connected to updated maps. Like all the others, this Scar is a seemingly cursed region clearly distinct from the lands adjacent to it, evidently existing since the founding of the world. The terrain is more often than not barren, the dark, perpetual clouds that loom over it giving way to occasional storms, yet what rain they give is wasted on soil unable to grow anything to a reliable degree. Wild pokémon found in such harsh conditions, thusly, must be especially resilient and ferocious to prevail over their rivals. Needless to say, there's still so much that's unknown about these places, and prior to the treasure-hunting rush of the last decade, most would have been keen to keep it that way. Unique to the Northeastern, however, is The Shroud, an inexplicably thick fog that rolls across its surface, swallowing all unsuspecting victims in a disorienting haze where few are said to ever escape. All attempts to colonize Scars until now have ended in failure and there stands little hope in reversing this trend.

Hello again. Went a little longer than I'd like without an update, but what limited time I've had was spent on multiple aspects of world building. It's that sorta thing in which progress has been made, but not on any one thing enough to outright warrant showing yet. I gotta say, PMD is a lot more fitting for my first go at it than I thought, considering how naming things is a relatively simple matter compared to other settings.

I believe focusing on locations first is the way to go for now (names and overviews in the next update). What I can tell you now is that there'll be three regions of Aurora in play at the start of the RP, with the third being the least explored, and where the players will operate from. Travel to available regions will be a thing, as there's to be plenty of points of interest and even new things to discover. Probably not gonna be able to detail everything about a region before the game starts, but I would like a few key places each (probably another update in itself).

Aside from that, a rough version of the CS is complete, though I'm thinking that it may be best to release it at a later point, near the end of the development period. "Faction" concepts are well underway and they're meant to flesh out the world and add that extra bit of depth to the story. Speaking of which, considering how there's to be an in-game calendar, very soon I'm gonna do some passes over and set some annual events everyone can look forward to.

Hey again. It'll be all too easy for me to put my head down for multiple weeks, all the while everyone thinks I just sort of gave up or whatever. Over my free time, I've started looking into how CS's are going to work, likely something very stripped down as I want this to be fairly easy to pick up despite the odd fusion mechanic I'm asking players to consider (plus I'm likely to fill out the cast with my own side characters).

Aside from that, I've started getting my head around the main continent that the RP will take place in. Here is the working brief overview of it, which I plan to include in the setting portion of this world-building "all in one" I'm working on.

I will need to return to the fusion overview later on I'm thinking, but for now I've added that to the original post too. I hope it sums up most of the major aspects of fusioneering. Let me know if you have any questions or if I missed anything.

The fusion feature connects to things like coalescite variants and character sheets, so I haven't decided what to write up for you guys next.
