Upon disclosing the existence of a mutant gene to the general public, there was an alarming spike in hate speech and hate-based incidents targeting mutants that lasted for a decade. With seemingly no other option, the FBI secretly approached a well-known and respected Professor Charles Xavier with the request to house and teach young mutants "for the welfare of humanity and the whole world." Xavier reluctantly agreed to use his ancestral mansion on the outskirts of New York as its sanctuary with government financial assistance for improvements and upkeep. Using a pseudonym, Professor X rescued several mutants and began to train them by the beginning of the 1980s.

At the same time, the Brotherhood of Mutants emerged from the shadows to achieve mutant superiority alongside its revered leader: Erik Lehnsherr. Upon discovering his old cherished friend was the leader, Xavier planned on privately confronting him in hopes of achieving peace through dialogue. But the FBI learned of the scheme and threatened him with the detainment of faculty for "being sponsors of terror." Afraid for their safety, Professor X yielded to the threat and ultimately cooperated with authorities with knowledge of Lehnsherr's abilities to his disdain.

For nine years, hundreds of mutated children were housed in state-of-the-art dormitories, taught by some of the best instructors in the country, and protected from anti-mutant hate. Still, even as the first students graduated, sustained anti-mutant sentiment among the general public viewed them as a menace. It eventually led the Reagan Administration to act decisively in its final months to shut down the school by pulling funding entirely. However, the school kept its doors open thanks to support from the faculty (and a few anonymous donors). But the response was severe.

An old contact within the FBI alerted Professor Xavier of a planned raid to arrest the professor and faculty under accusations of collaborating with the Brotherhood. Xavier instructed all students and faculty to evacuate while he negotiated an agreement with the federal government. Instead of meeting with negotiators, he was met with authorities intended to arrest the professor. Xavier was shot in an ensuing struggle and would've been left to bleed if his old friend didn't save him. Erik, who recently escaped from a prison transport van, sought a secluded place for his friend to heal.

Both friends spent twenty-three years in complete isolation from the world to heal physical and mental wounds. It wasn't until the Chitauri invaded the planet for subjugation made Xavier and Lehnsherr reconsidered their decades-long social isolation. But it was only Magneto that returned to public life in an attempt to rally other mutants against the invading force. His efforts were so triumphant that his criminal record was expunged, and he was offered a place in the newly formed Avengers. And yet, Magneto rejected the offer and returned to solitude with a promise that he would return with a "dear friend."

Slowly but surely, Erik kept his promise and brought Professor Xavier back to public life with the purpose of restoring the former Xavier Estate to its former glory. Their hidden agenda was the re-energized crusade against the alarming resurgence of anti-mutant sentiment. When Robert Kelly was declared the winner of the 2020 election, Xavier announced that his estate was a sanctuary for mutants endangered by any legislation. Then in a frightening escalation, Kelly announced support of the Mutant Control Act, a law that would undoubtedly target mutants indiscriminately.

So in response, both Xavier and Lehnsherr publicly announced the reopening of Xavier's Institue along with the formation of the X-Men in a last frantic attempt to achieve the dream of peaceful co-existence between humans and mutants. The team would be under the leadership of a reformed Magneto. At the same time, the school's principal is a redetermined Professor X. Both men are more than qualified to withstand the impending danger from the Kelly Administration, the new Brotherhood of Mutants, and the Neo-Purifiers. But are they prepared for it?

It has been fun coming up with ideas and concepts for both the X-Men and Xavier Institute. The character dynamics of Charles and Erik will heavily lean towards rekindled confidantes for their decades-long isolation. But there will still be slight friction between them that you'd seen in the movies or read the comics, especially with the rapid development of anti-mutant sentiment within a ten-year period. Nevertheless, Erik will receive much of the spot as the consequences of his past deeds come back to haunt him. While Charles' dedication towards his dream will be strained, never before seen—not even since the 1980s.

As for the mechanics, the X-Men are (by the present day) relatively newcomers to being vigilantes, while Xavier Institute is starting its first year with its future uncertain. Erik will be the leader of the X-Men, not in the traditional sense. He will debrief them on missions and practice with them in the danger room. Occasionally, he will tag along in a rescue mission or whenever the matter requires his utmost attention. Charles will be the principal of the Xavier Institute and the unofficial representative of mutantkind. His days are now spent overseeing the school operations, teaching students to maintain their abilities, and offering counseling services during these difficult times.

In short, if someone's planning on a character joining the X-Men, they can write short stories/arcs with other members without much worry. That way, I don't need so many iconic X-Men members to worry about, and people can write them. Just message me if you have plans with anyone, especially the older characters who themselves could've been students and faculty of the former school. As for Xavier Institute, someone is more than free to write a student or faculty without worrying about stepping on my toes. I have plans concerning some faculty and students that play a significant part in the overall story. But feel free to ask me about a specific character you'd wish to write and/or have as a supporting cast.

"The Hamato Clan rose to prominence during the Edo period for their experienced ninjas and an advanced form of ninjutsu that pushed a person's body to its peak physical condition. However, the chaos of Bakumatsu brought forth the beginning of the end for the shogunate, forcing the clan to westernize and support the Imperial Court. Much of their size, wealth, and influence dwindled as a result, but their ability to adapt to whatever situation presented itself was rewarded with their survival into the late 20th century. Hamato Yuuta, my father, faced the same dilemma that had cursed our ancestors when The Demon approached him with a simple offer: join his recently established League of Assassins or be forcibly assimilated.

Whatever honor remained died when the deal was finalized, but it was a calculated move that had been done countless times centuries ago. It was how the Hamato Clan survived the Sengoku period, thrived during the Edo period, and consolidated its power in the Meiji era. That, and their expertise and knowledge of ninjutsu, were still undoubtedly valuable. And their cooperation was rewarded with greater autonomy and access to resources normally restricted to sub-organizations of the League of Assassins. The privilege wasn't squandered.

I truly believe that on his deathbed, my father thought he had brought honor back to his clan. He left the world comforted with the knowledge that his sons were destined to usher in a golden age. My students, what you must take away from this brief history lesson is this: do not hesitate to embrace change on the grounds of sustaining the past, or you will end up being nothing more than a footnote in the pages of history."

Been waiting a long time for this sweet opportunity to play as the beloved, pizza-eating turtles. And I wasn't going to waste it.

Much of what you already know about the turtles won't change, besides slight adjustments to make them fit better with the story. The only significant alteration was that Splinter and Shredder became part of the League of Assassins through the Hamato clan. I also want to collab with fellow New Yorkers and a certain bat whenever it makes the most sense.

A(nother) place where I can stash ideas and concepts for use in the near future but more organized and tidy.

I would also be interested.

I do wonder if it writing a group (like for example, X-Men) is a no-go but someone from the said group is good to go.
I am also interested.

UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

Sunriver: Haven for Opportunity

By HARVEY MCMAHON

An Americana is an enclave of Americans located outside of the United States of America. These areas only exist in Western Europe, Asia, Australasia, and South America. Their development resulted from the mass exodus of the 1930s—one of the largest since the Great War. Henderson in Glasgow, established in 1934, is regarded to be the oldest Americana in the world. Notable examples include The Hague's Roosevelt in the Netherlands, São Paulo's Aventura in Brazil, and Hong Kong's Riverton in China. More than three million Americans live in fifteen different enclaves as of 1954.

But I want to talk about my home and one of the newest Americanas: Tianjin's Sunriver. Twenty-two years ago, I celebrated my tenth birthday with my mother on a boat heading toward, at the time, an unknown destination. My father was clearly missing, but not by choice, as I had recently discovered. He taught American Constitutional Law at a prominent university to collegians that sought to uphold it for years. The faculty had the utmost respect for him; some considered him a great colleague to be around.

But most importantly, he believed in what he taught even as those values upheld in the Constitution were being spat on by MacArthur and crooks.

For the longest time, I never knew what had happened to my father because it was too heartbreaking for my mother to talk about. As a result, I made awful assumptions about him, thinking he had discarded us in favor of a cushy government job or that he had just abandoned us for someone else. Those terrible impressions dominated my thoughts while I was an anxious teenager who realized he was an outsider. It wasn't until after my mother's funeral that I learned the truth.

In the early summer of 1934, the US military underwent a purge of any officials sympathetic to Major General Smedley Butler and his failed coup attempt. But former Vice President William Pelley escalated the purge to targeting officeholders regardless of their political allegiances—the very thing that got him an offer for the office in the first place. Soon after, my father initiated a campaign condemning the purge alongside other law and constitutional law professors across the country. Naturally, that got the wrath of the American government.

My mother wrote in her well-hidden journal that my father begged her to flee the country. It was out of cautionary fear that she would be arrested for association with an "anti-American cause." "It is out of necessity that I leave my love to perish," she wrote on the day she fled for the port with her children before a temporary close on the borders was enacted. And shortly after, he and several other professors were detained and vanished for public life. I'd like to think that my father didn't suffer in his final moments or was still alive in a highly secured penitentiary.

But I know that is a lie.

So did my mother, who died from a heart that never truly mended in her late forties. She spent thirteen years as a nurse working endlessly to earn her citizenship in this country, just like I and countless others living in Sunriver did. We may occasionally do things that aren't commonly seen in China, like celebrate a cherished American football team or host a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. But we still respect Chinese values and are willing to give our blood to the republic. It's the reason why I am sharing my story. To show everyone that we are humans deserving of a place to call home.

And we found it in Tianjin.

It became a blight upon our lands.

SOL FLOW
The world of possibilities is here.

For decades, warnings about the inevitable change were willfully ignored out of denial, despair, or a little of both. There were those that clutched onto escapism while their surroundings were gradually decaying. Those that embraced pessimism and brazenly deconstructed long-term solutions in favor of short-term personal gains. And those with the authority and influence full-heartedly understood and then did nothing to stop the impending apocalypse. Once the inevitable change was no longer possible to deny was when the world truly crumpled. But in the words of an Old World philosopher, "for sometimes it is an act of bravery even to live."

A few valiant souls, in anticipation of the inevitable change, banded together to preserve humankind by integrating existing technologies with nature. To exist beyond any rift with nature. To get better with the planet—not stand against it. And to live forth with the knowledge of our ancestors' hubris so as to prevent history from repeating itself again. It was thanks to their efforts that, in the year 2033-AIC, we are co-existing with mother nature as it was always intended.
