It was quite strange to see Kijani flustered, more So to have her not being guarded in the things she said. Unburdened, even slightly, from her past, Kijani seemed more...open.
As she explained how she could fly, eagerly saying what she had accomplished and what she thought could be done, Connor watched her, and so caught the moment she realized what she had said. Perhaps she might have seen the quick jolt that took him at her words, but her own reaction to them seemed to be one of utter shock, and...it wasn't regret...was it fear?
It wouldn't surprise Connor if Kijani had never spoken words of love before, to anyone. But sometimes that made the thing more pure, even if it was more frightening.
So Connor did the only thing he could to reassure her. He took her in his arms, kissing her softly, "why fear Love? Why fear it won't be reciprocated? Face it, my dear, you are stuck with me."
It was, quite probably, cheesy, but since when has that bothered Connor?

Phoebe looked to the newcomer, finding his attitude slightly rude. Still, she managed a smile and gave a concerned look. "Well, this is the academy. Here you will learn to control your powers, learn how to be a good super. Here you will be taught how to balance life and saving the world. I'm Phoebe"

Lily was tired of being the mouse in the maze, never finding the cheese, the hamster on the wheel never going anywhere. Would they forever be hunted,forever have their identities used against them, this black mail? Would they forever be forced into links?
She planted her feet firmly, placing her hands on her hips, she let Moe's lead to slack, just slightly.
"Do it. Give my information out, because I'll never join someone who thinks blackmail is useful. Do it, because I'm tired of this game. Do it."
There was every bit of challenge in those two words.
"You can't pull me in. I was walking my dog, nimrod. I don't have my link with me"
That would enable her some semblance of control, but she had no doubt when she turned it on that she would be pulled in. The phones had given her some freedom from the link, and leaving it home had been a way of making sure that she wouldn't be pulled in, and that Moe therefore wouldn't be lost to her.
She didn't even know if the guy was nearby, but she suspected he would at least hear her words. "I'll run home, Angelo. I'll be there soon"
