Melissa simply smiled and shook her head slightly. “I don’t think apologies are necessary.” She informed him gently. “She didn’t take offence to it. She knows you’re learning.” She invited him to come sit down. “I think right now the important thing is that we talk about the techniques I used, why I did it, things like that so you can understand more what to do in these situations and why we do it. Understanding is always the best way to learn, and it’s the same with people who can’t control their powers. There’s always a reason. Find out about their powers, as specific as you can and then delve into when they began to lose control. Find the event and figure out why. Often it takes someone with an outside view to see things clearly.”

It was dark, and the building was quiet. It was probably close to midnight and most of the school was asleep or off doing their own quiet activities. Grace peeked out of her door cautiously before stepping out into the school for the first time. Walking through the halls she felt tense, but also more at ease than usual. With the threat of running into people removed she felt a lot calmer about not hurting people with her powers so they didn’t seem to be playing up on her as much. Making her way down to the first floor she eventually found her way out into the yard.
Rebecca looked to him as they entered the shelter. She looked around the shelter for a moment as she shrugged slightly, her feathers ruffling. She couldn’t help but compare herself to these people. She lived in a complex, was feed on a schedule what they decided to feed her, she was completely reliant on the agency to take care of her. If anything ever happened then she’d probably end up in a place like this where she had to pray that she would be able to protect herself. The agency did offer that much at least. No mutants ever turned up brutally murdered there.

Well... at least not out of a hate crime specifically, and if they did then no one heard about it. Her head snapped to him as he spoke to her. “If I see him I come and get you whilst keeping an eye on him. I don’t do anything unless you say.” She replied evenly, nodding slightly as she did so. Honestly she didn’t want to move too far from his side, as stupid as that sounded, even in her mind. Because at least whilst he was close he could protect her.

“It needs to be light, non restrictive and lose” He began, knowing that there was a room in the castle somewhere that held what they needed. “So that it dries quickly but also keeps the sun off. There’s a room in here that has clothing from all the nine realms, collected from travellers like me over the years. They might be a bit too big or too small and it may be a bit dated when we go there. But it’s easier than showing up in clothes like this and having to explain why we look so out of place. We don’t need another welcome like we had here.”

He smiled at her as he ran his hand along the wall, letting his eyes close for a moment before he turned down a hallway quickly. He was glad that she seemed very excited about the next place; however it caused him a lot of anxiety too. She was only learning to swim just now. Whilst they were out on the ocean they’d been out on the water the whole time, surrounded by it. If she ever fell in... he shook his head quickly to dismiss the thought. She wasn't incapable of swimming, but a rip or undertow could easily pull her away before he could react.

When they arrived at a set of pail wooden doors. He placed his hand upon it and waited a moment before pushing it inward. Inside he looked around before moving over towards the back left corner where the clothing was majorly white with oranges, yellows and blues but with touches of gray and red as well. There wasn't a lot to pick from, and he stepped back slightly before beckoning Maddy over. “Go ahead and pick anything you like.” He told her he encouraged as he stepped back, figuring that she would be happy that there weren’t any skirts to be found.

There were some pieces that wrapped around the waist and behaved bit like a skirt, but mostly it was knee length baggy pants. Sitting back he let his head flop forwards and he inspected his dirty blonde hair. He really needed to wash it at some point. Between everything it had grown way out and was starting to look more brown than blonde. Besides that he also thought about where they would have to go next. A bit ambitious, he knew, to think they’d succeeded and be planning for that already, but he needed to. Things would only get harder after the One Sea.

The Middle World was too big. It would take too long to locate her. He wanted to avoid certain places as long as possible but he was starting to run out of options. The one sea was big too. It looks like Maddy’s world had to come next. The Outlands and the Underworld were just too risky right now with her level of training. Some worlds were more dangerous than others and it was those worlds he feared bringing her to the most.
There was an extra bit, I'm pretty sure Ryder got captured and Ashe saw him, changing her mind and turned her thoughts to trying to help them escape before Alex killed them both. It was up to your post.
Rebecca looked over sharply as Adrian called her, her shoulder almost knocking a glass vase off the shelf. She quickly caught and hurried out the door before she almost broke anything else. She looked at him curiously as he said he hoped he had loose change, the statement lost on her. She had no idea why she’d need it. Shrugging slightly she followed him closely as they made their way through the city, into the seedier streets of the town. Gradually the buildings became less maintained and the people shadier, she didn’t really like not knowing what to do. Most of the situations they’d put her in during training were easy, she’d acted on instinct.

Maybe that had been the problem. She hoped not. Because if she was unreliable during higher missions she and Adrian would never get off missions like this. And he didn’t seem to be happy about the current situation. He used to be a fairly highly ranked agent, she’d heard someone say. But he’s been on desk duty recently. She could only speculate why that was. And if she asked he’d probably not tell her anyway.
Melissa looked up as Sebastian entered and she smiled happily at him as he told her how thoughts and she invited him to take a seat. She was determined not to let him leave here with the same mindset. "I know how you feel." She said first, but gathered he'd think she was just trying to make him feel better. "No, really. My very first time trying to mentor a student went so bad, they set the room on fire." She laughed softly and shook her head. "I didn't expect you to get it right the first time, no one does. I didn't pick you because you can control your powers, a majority of people here can do that. I picked you because you have a genuine interest in helping people.

I think you did better today than any mentor ever has on their first day, up until you left. Most people will sit there and they'll be too afraid to say or do anything, too busy focusing on me they hardly pay any attention to their pupils. But you asked her questions, you touched her. It was dangerous, yes, given how volatile she is, but it paid off. Even Grace was surprised at herself, you didn't see how happy she was the rest of the session." She shrugged slightly as she leaned forwards a little bit. "She likes you." The woman told him with a smile. "If you really don't want to do this then that's okay, but at least don't give up on Grace as a friend. I think she needs someone like you, who will push the boundaries a little."
Rebecca rolled her eyes slightly at Adrian but grabbed onto the seat desperately as he swerved dangerously and shouted at the other car. Her heart now racing Rebecca clung to the side of the car until they arrived at their destination where she practically jumped out of the car, stepping away from it quickly. “Freedom! Safety!” She cried out dramatically; glad to be out of the steel death trap. However her relief at her safety was now overshadowed by Adrian’s threat. The girl once again rolled her eyes, not so slightly. “I’ll give you a negative report.” She muttered under her breath, though loudly enough for herself to be heard.

She was trying to be positive, she really was. It was her first time being out and she had to be partnered with this pessimistic dickhead. Seriously he had have gotten out of bed on the wrong side of the bed, at least she hoped. He was way too cranky and serious to be like that every day. It was true; she didn’t know anything about this man, the same as he didn’t know anything about her. But so far all he’d done was groan and glare and threaten her.

Oh she was trying to be positive, but he was making it hard. New relationships were always hard, especially in their job. But it was even harder when her partner had already made decisions about her, a bad one, based on her file. Which she believed was a terribly inaccurate representation of her character. She had wings for Christ’s sake, she was practically a bird! She could fly! It was natural for her to want to spread her wings and fly. These people thought something like a large gymnasium would be just as good. But it wasn't. They didn’t understand. How could they? How could any of them?

She followed him into the store and allowed Adrian to go and talk to the owner, figuring the more space she gave him the less shit he’d give her. She instead looked around the store, which pretty much lived up to what Adrian had predicted it would contain; nothing spectacular. She kept her wings tucked, making sure she didn’t bump into anything and also trying to make sure no one saw them. There was still a lot of discrimination against mutants and right now she felt like if someone attacked her Adrian would join in or stand by before he made a move to help her.
Grace looked to Sebastian as he left and then down to the ground. That felt about right, someone wanting to be her friend and help her and she pushing him away. “Melissa smiled slightly as she looked to the door. “Don’t think about that for now, I’ll talk to him later. For now, while we’re here I want you to start experiencing your powers in a good way.” She pushed the cup forwards slightly, smiling encouragingly.

By the time Melissa did end up back at her office it was about an hour later. Grace had made some progress with her powers, being able to freeze the water in the cup at will, but still had a hard time accepting it as a good thing. She had been so nervous, especially when it didn’t go fully to plan, like when it tipped over and she’d been unable to un-freeze it. She had noticed that she had been rather distracted and sad that Sebastian had left her. She had felt the boy become very unsure of himself when he’d touched Grace and, true, it had been a mistake, but he was still learning. She had made plenty when she had started out too and she hoped that it didn’t turn him off it. He seemed to have a very positive effect on Grace.
Rebecca paused outside of the car, looking at him uncertainly and hesitating for a good ten seconds or more before she slowly climbed into the vehicle and sat in the back looking very uncomfortable and, judging from her strange and sudden silence there was something strange going on with the girl. When she was addressed by her codename Rebecca looked up, having not really been listening to the first part she nodded absently to satisfy him, hoping to make him just drive the car already. However he turned to look at her and she looked up to meet his eyes.

The tone in his voice and the words he spoke made her own eyes narrow, there was a clear look of defiance on the young girl’s face as she stared him down before dropping her gaze finally and looking to the side. She hadn't agreed outright, but the submissive actions signified she’d at least heard him and was listening. She was happy to be friendly enough, but this man knew nothing about her, who she was, her past, anything like that. She wasn't going to respect him until he’d earned it either. “Can you just... drive the car now please.” Her words sounded almost pained when she finally did speak. But that was all she was willing to say at this very moment.
“No don’t!” Grace demanded as Sebastian reached out to touch her arm, the girl cringing away and closing her eyes at the same time as Melissa called out.

“Sebastian wait!” She reached out to stop him, but both girls were too slow as the boy placed his hand on her arm. Melissa cringed too. Right now Grace was still too volatile, too scared. She had just relived a traumatic event from her past and she hadn't had any physical contact for a long time, for him to reach out and touch her arm, even if it was to comfort her was so dangerous. She could have easily accidently stuck him accidently with her powers.

However as the seconds ticked by Grace eventually opened her eyes and looked over to him curiously. She couldn’t really remember the last time she’d let anyone touch her, even her own parents, out of fear of freezing them to death or something like that. Yet nothing. Melissa watched as a great deal of ice and frost began receding as the two sat there next to each other. Quick to move on she encouraged Sebastian to move away as she placed the cup in front of Grace.

“Well, since that seemed to better than you’d thought, we’re going to try a small exercise, just so you can get a feel of actually using your powers, rather than them working of their own account. The more you use them willingly the more you’ll learn to control them.” She said as she glanced over to Sebastian. They’d definitely have to talk about all of this once they were done here.
