Have you ever been on a rollercoaster? You're slowly crawling up into the sky and then there is that brief moment when you reach the peak and you lose your breath. Suddenly you're rocketing down the ramp and your insides are jumbled around like a bag of popcorn in the microwave. Charlize felt sick to her stomach. "Urrgh." she slurred as she came from the light, placed now in front of strangers. She felt like she was going to throw up but swallowed the feeling back down as she closed her eyes for a moment, steadying herself before opening them again. She looked to her left and to her right taking in the group of people that seemed all close to her age.

The loud welcome made Charlize turn her attention quickly to the man who emitted a bright beam of light. The strong beam then split into several sections and then formed what looked like to be a bird. Charlize's mouth gaped in a slight shock, she wanted- no needed to learn how to do that. The girls back home would lose their shit. Charlize let out a playful, "Oooh, ahhh." like people did when they were watching a fireworks show. The young girl was ready for more of a show when a more timid voice spoke up,

"I'm glad you all made it..."

Charlize smiled, this woman seemed nice enough from her book's cover. "Where's he going?" Charlize commented to her peers next to her, nodding her head towards the man leaving. Was he just there for the entrance show? It was a curious display at that. She watched him walk away, his sword now back into a cane as it made rhythmic taps on the ground before him.
"You really are quite a good looking girl."

Ivonne was half asleep, as she heard the young man speaking.

"Huh?"

Her voice was groggy from snoring and the dry air in this strange apartment, or perhaps it was a dorm room. Becoming more awake quite rapidly, Ivonne turned towards the voice and was slapped in the face with the smell of morning breath. She scooted back, squinting her eyes a bit to figure out who this man was. She would admit that she wasn't entirely sure, but he wasn't terrible to look at so she didn't think too poorly of herself. Reaching backwards she felt for her glasses on the night table and placed them upon her face.

"You look better without glasses."

"So do you." she replied quickly.

She hated when people made that comment. It wasn't like she could help it, she had to wear them to see. She wasn't like some of the younger and more stylish girls in Drumvar who wore glasses for fashion and style. The man chuckled as he got up from the bed, he looked to the alarm clock where Ivonne had grabbed her glasses from and made a grunted noise. "You need to leave." Ivonne sat up in the bed, the blanket clutched around her petite body as she looked at him in shock. It wasn't that surprising to not want to be kept around for long, but he at least could have been kind about it.

"Not even going to offer me breakfast, huh?" she smirked, throwing the blanket off to reveal herself to the man. He opened his mouth to say something, but Ivonne wasn't going to let him have the chance. She picked up her items off the floor, getting dressed hurriedly as well as taking a decorative vase that was on the dresser. "Fucker." she huffed under her breath as she left the room and exited the building.

Looking up at the place she realized it was a dorm room, and she then gave a small prayer hoping he was of age. Freshman were getting so fresh that it was hard to tell the difference sometime. Ivonne could not drive nor did she know how to ride a bike- so walking and the bus were something she had gotten used to quickly. Her friends gave her rides pretty frequently as well, but she didn't want to bother them with her this early in the morning.

She began her walk home, a mile or so away from campus- it wasn't a pleasant walk but it could have been far worse. Arriving just a bit before afternoon hit. She climbed the stairs to her apartment and walked in, kicking off her boots- she made it no further than the couch before falling back asleep.

When she awoke a few hours later it was around 2:00PM. She felt sore as she moved her body around. Groaning as her arms stretched above her body in hope that, that alone would take out the kinks in her back and neck. It didn't, but the try was worthy enough for a reward to herself: a trip to the Town Centre for a slice of the festival that was going on. After showering, and changing her clothes Ivonned dressed warmly and made another trek, this time to the festival. The crowd of people welcomed her without saying anything, she felt home in Drumvar even though she hadn't been there for really that long. "Good morning!" she sung as she pointed to a hot pastry at one of the stands. The two exchanged goods, as she took a big bite. The chocolate ran down her chin, but she caught it before it could reach her clothing. While eating the pastry she found another booth to get something to drink from; a hot coffee. Standing off to the side she enjoyed her small lunch, looking around and taking in the people that happily and busily walked around.

"What did I tell you about that?!"

A surprising boisterous voice came from the little old woman as she came behind Charlize in the backyard shed, the doors swung open letting in the sun. With an abrupt turn, "I didn't do it Grandma!" The sandy brown haired girl pleaded with her doe eyes; the shade of honey. Her grandmother wasn't convinced, ever since magic was becoming so drained she had gotten rid of Charlize's Gauntlet quickly and banned every bit that she could from her household, it might has well be a toxin at this rate. "Don't lie to me girl!" her grandmother spoke again, sternly.

Truth be told Charlize had been reading about and trying to practice magic in private in the shed for months now. Without her Gauntlet it was pretty useless, sometimes she could get a chant correct but the outcome didn't seem to be strong enough to be considered correct. Today had been different though. It didn't seem like anything special when she had woken up. She helped her grandmother make breakfast as usual, the two sat together over a hot cup of coffee to start the day off along with their oatmeal. But as the two split off from one another as they went about their own schedule, Charlize started to go back into her researching until something actually came from it.

Her usual attempt at a ball of light incantation. Instead of it just being a little spark, it was a burst of light like a camera flash. "Holy!" the girl said, repeating the process as the light became more steady and became like a part of her fingertips. It was then the moment was brought to present, the women looking to one another in confusion and slight anger. Before Charlize could tell her grandmother what was going on they were met with another person.

"What are you doing in my ya-"

"It's urgent. " The woman interrupted the grandmother and left as fast as she came, but not before handing Charlize a letter. While her grandmother was slightly dazed, Charlize took the time to read the letter, skimming things but barely able to read the entire thing before her grandmother snatched it from her hands. The old woman read it herself before shaking her head, "Nonsense, it's all nonsense!" she yelled. The part that Charlize had mustered to read and remember was the last part.

rip the letter

rip the letter

Quickly Charlize grabbed the letter back and ripped it promptly in half whilst her grandmother looked in shock. Before she even could get out a goodbye or receive one in return she was embraced with a light much brighter than one that had ever come from her own finger tips.

The young bar keep and her new found acquaintance Astrid talked back and forth between one another, speaking about how life in the mine was and how life down in town were. The two exchanged laughter as they admitted to both of the lives having struggles. "Yes, I'll see you at the party Astrid!" she nodded watching the girl and her big lovable dog leave. Grabbing up the bowl of water she had provided for the dog she dumped out the rest into the bar sink, grabbing a mop to clean up the mess. Waconia didn't mind much, she would rather have a happy customer (even one that didn't pay) than have a pristine bar. Though, she did pride herself in having a pretty well maintained establishment despite it's age and constant use.

After cleaning up a bit, Waconia made the drink she had planned for the party, looking to her notes she read the details again:

Ice
2 tbsp red sanding sugar
1/3 part grenadine + rim
2/3 part Sambuca
2 part milk
Maraschino cherries for garnish??

She decided she definitely would use the cherries, so it looked more festive. Combining all the ingredients an adult milkshake was born, a beautiful pink resembling the cherry blossoms that would soon be all over the town of Valibree. Waconia smiled, taking a sip of her creation. "Mmm, delicious." she cooed, wiping the resonance from her lips with the back of her hand. She poured that batch into a large punch bowl. She then created another version this time virgin- so the children and non alcohol drinkers of the town could enjoy the smoothie as well. It was just as delicious and most definitely as refreshing. She poured this smaller batch into a pitcher and placed them both in the industrial sized fridge.

Climbing the stairs back to her small apartment Waconia undressed herself and took a shower. She wanted to look good for the party but not overly dressed. After blow drying her hair and styling it her normal way, she adorned herself in a simple grey scaled dress and some crisp white pumps. She didn't get to wear those often, as they would be dirty within moments. She scrunched the neck of her resting cat, giving him some love and attention before walking down the steps, a small gasp escaped from her lips as she was met with Aizum once again today. She smiled, "Back again already?" she laughed, walking up to the bar. She really should have locked the door and close the place so she wouldn't have to deal with any more customers before the party at Mayor McByrd's manor. "Want to be the first to try my celebration concoction Aizum?" Waconia knew the man was blunt and if it was terrible he'd let her know. She got him a small cup, and presented it to him, hoping he'd give his approval.

About an hour later Waconia had her punch bowl pressed up against her hip and her pitcher in her other hand. She shook Aizum away for helping her, she wanted to do everything herself. After locking up the bar she made her trek to the mayor's place. Quite a few people had showed up already and the arrangement of food was miraculous. Coming up the path she noticed Red leaving, "You trying to leave before I even arrive Red?" Waconia asked, a small smirk spread across her lips as she walked past him. She wasn't going to beg him to stay, she had no right to do so- but she hoped that her being there now would be enough to change his mind. Continuing to walk past him she placed her gifts on the table. "Good evening everyone! Happy New Year!" she cheered, happily chatting with people as they approached her whilst keeping a eye on Hope like she had promised.
