I dunno about anyone else, but the site's been real iffy for the past few days. It might be a matter of timing- maybe the site is down when someone's got the time to play, and then it's up but they have no time to check.
"Well... I saw your performance today in gym. You made it look easy. I was wondering if you could possibly teach me to fight." She smiled hesitantly and continued. "I should warn you that I suck pretty bad right now at fighting, but I'm getting better with physical stuff. A friend of mine suggested I try judo or some other sort of wrestling, so I can put my size to work." Her hand snuck up to rub the back of her neck in a fidgety motion. "So... uh... what do you think?"
Devika headed off to lunch after Captain America's class. She really needed to get a tutor. Trainer? What would you call a fighting tutor anyway? She got her lunch from the cafeteria as quickly as she could, trying to block out the heavy fog of emotions caused by the presence of the other students. After settling under a tree and taking several bites of her gumbo lasanga (Italian and Cajun food at the same time? Gambit was a genius.) she spotted Flood, looking busy at work. She didn't want to bother him. Yet she remembered his effortless performance at the gym. A mild frown crossed her face, as she continued on eating. Once the lasanga was done, she made her choice.

"Hey, Flood... whenever you're not busy, I kinda wanna ask you something."
*sigh* Aw, maaaan.
Etana stayed quiet all throughout Dakarai's little announcement, and fell into step with the other apprentices. She was well used to men who had limited power that liked to express it through demeaning and bullying others. It was all the same game, whether it was politics, trade, or even assassination. Some people didn't know how to earn respect, and so they simply ruled with fear and aggression. Either their teacher would learn, or he would be overcome by someone better. That was all.

When their first assignment was given, she listened carefully. She did want to ask a question about the man's clothing, but their 'teacher' was already gone. Ah, well. One of her fellow new Apprentices spoke up, and she stepped quietly toward him. “I think we should spread out. We are quite a conspicuous group. More information is needed before we begin fumbling in alleyways.”

With that, she stepped away and into the crowd, only to resurface a bit later at a market stall. There was an older woman running it, and she made a show of looking over the woman's wares while she asked innocuous questions about foreigners in the market lately. The man's eyes were green, and that wasn't anything she'd seen in anyone born in this city. Years of living pampered (and hampered) by the house's servants had taught her that servants knew a lot of information that higher up people simply ignored. This woman would know something- or could at least point her toward someone who would.
Edit: Accidental double post
I posted. Dunno if I like it, but it moves things along. Also, I know we're trying to touch off some drama, but it wouldn't make sense for Jin to just be off and shopping right now. She doesn't like it much on a good day, unless it's for something she really needs.
Jin was not doing well.

She hadn't gotten a good night's rest since their base had been attacked, and had taken to sleeping with one of her orbs under her pillow. Even without her glove to launch the blades, she had a very good throwing arm. If anyone wanted to attack her in her sleep, they'd get a broken nose for it. There were dark rings under her eyes that she'd started to cover with makeup. It was really the only good use she'd ever found for cosmetics, hiding bruises and cuts.

Even though Gabe was awake and on the mend, she was still worried. He was making faces of pain, though she knew he was trying to pretend everything was fine. Everything was not fine. Mom-Canary had left, Bast was back in Gotham, Fenrir'd had a very close shave and was now Magnus, (she called him Maggie) and Phil's arm was torn to shreds. She hadn't bothered getting to know their new supervisor, Billy. He'd just leave anyway, whenever Canary got her groove back. Why bother making all that effort for someone who wouldn't be around?

She'd come to the common room when Billy had called, and looked curiously at the credit card. There was a lot she could do with this, but credit cards were so trackable. Before she could go back to her room, Luke mentioned her name, and something about shopping. She gave him a dubious look.

“Shopping for what? I've got enough clothes.” Her things had taken damage, but not so much that it bothered her. So her jeans smelled like smoke. No big deal. At least they were still functional. “I'm not hungry, and unless you wanna run me by the used electronics shop downtown, there's really nothing I need.” Her voice had a sort of flatness to it, like she didn't even have energy to spare for needless conversation. “What's the point of shopping?”
*sigh* Nothing's happening. I can barely get out of bed lately.
Etana rose up and accepted her equipment. First, there was a small satchel filled with many types of herbs and powders. They could cause anything from an upset stomach, to deep sleep, to stopping one's heart, or one's breath. She had a collection of non-lethal poisons at her disposal, because of all the other new Assassins, she was the one who could get closest to the nobility. After all, she nearly was one. She also took a small, slender dagger that was a bit smaller than her forearm. While she knew she could kill a man with her bare hands if necessary, it never hurt to have a backup plan. She took a bow and a quiver of arrows, and finally ran her fingers over her cloak. It was white, with turquoise and gold edges. An elegant cloak for a beautiful killer. Once she had all of her things, she settled back down near the others.
