Jin tried to smile a bit, looking up at the blonde girl who had greeted her. Part of her was happy that there was another girl on the team. Shock seemed to be in and out at random, so usually Jin was the only female. Technically female, anyway, the guys treated her like a guy anyway. She had no issue with that.

They wouldn't be doing that with this girl, though. She was pretty, and feminine, and if she was on this team, she had to be tough as well.

"Wisteria, huh? I'm Jin. Orbit, more often." She summoned a look that she hoped was welcoming. "I guess you're one of the new members my mentor told me about. Nice to have you on the team. I... I've got to go, though. If I put this off any longer, I'll be going right back out the door." She inhaled deep and breathed out, walking toward the common room. She saw Magnus and Gabe right away. At least, she thought it was him. He had the right hair, but the height and build were bigger than she remembered. Apparently she wasn't the only one who'd changed. She cleared her throat softly, which was something she'd never really done. Never before had she ever had an issue just walking in the room and speaking. Now, somehow... things were different.

Would they still mark her as a failure? As a quitter? Someone who couldn't be depended on?

Nothing for it but to find out for sure. She gathered her courage and squared her shoulders, praying her voice didn't shake.

"Gabe! It's me!"

She winked behind her glasses. "Loosen up." She turned back to the snack machine, putting in a few quarters. After choosing a bottle of iced tea, she looked at the boys. "You guys want any? Research is better discussed over snacks."

Well, it's been what, six, seven months? And now I know. I didn't even know you then, yet I still offered help without you asking. Of course you wouldn't have, because you needed to be strong." He smiled slightly, "it's been seven months. And yet I'm still here. I haven't betrayed you. I did something extremely hard for you, making that proofed paper, but I did it because I wanted you to be happy. And you gave me real food. I'm not the same guy I was, for meeting you. And no matter what, I'll be eternally greatful for that. Just so long as you're happy and okay"He'd gone off on a tangent, he realized, "uh. So no, you aren't different for having nightmares. Kijani's expression wobbled into a nervous smile. "I had forgotten that." She chuckled softly. "That was you, wasn't it? You really are... just that kind of person, all on your own." She wrapped her arms around him and hugged him tight. Then she kissed him softly on the mouth, sighing softly. Even if he was the kind of genuine, caring person who tried to comfort a stranger, that didn't mean that she deserved to have him, did it? Pulling back from Connor, she shook her head rapidly as if trying to make her thoughts come out of her ears. "You're a good guy, Connor..."

Maybe he was too good for her..
