She was afraid that if she moved, even breathed too deeply, then she'd shatter. She'd crumble into a million fragments and tell him everything. That couldn't happen. That wouldn't happen. She was going to be strong, just a little while longer. "I know that." She dared to speak, and prayed that he couldn't hear anything but strength in her. Not pain, not regret, and not guilt.

"Maybe the school was on fire and the water in the halls is a result of that" connor said musingly, before giving a shrug "or McCoy really wants to give us a weird gym session. Or most likely it's Flood playing a joke or the likes of that." He knew something was up, and it was a struggle not to ask, not to find out what he could so that he could figure out what it was. But if Kijani wanted to continue as if nothing had happen, he would. And just figure out what was wrong the harder way

Kijani shook her head slightly. "Flood has a bit more creativity than simple water, I think. Now, if it was raining... I don't know, hair dye, now that would be one of his." She tried to smile, but it barely lifted the corners of her mouth. "I'll be glad when class is over." She opened the door to the gym, briefly ducking out from Connor's makeshift cover. "I'm... quite tired."

Kijani let out a faint snicker and shook her head. "I think the world might implode if there was more than one of me. You're right, though. I mean, the school could be on fire... so I'll take water in the halls over that." -- Devika watched as other people took care of the new girl, she'd heard the name 'Gale' in passing. It was nice that the girl had already made friends of Phoebe and Katherine. She tugged her gloves tight and tried to banish a sudden wave of sadness from her soul.

Jin had retreated to the roof of the school, where they sat, barely visible in a corner. It was peaceful up high. Jin had never liked anything more than looking down at the city and watching it go by, watching it from where nothing could hurt. Weakness wasn't allowed when Jin was growing up. Weakness and sickness meant a quick death if you weren't careful, or a slow death if you weren't careful and were also extremely unlucky. Despite not having slept on a sidewalk for nearly 6 years, the lessons were embedded deep into Jin's mind. There was no easy way to let others help, or even see them in a weak state. It was embarrassing enough to faint, but to have Leon step in like that... Unacceptable. There was the sound of a distant bell, and Jin wiped their wet face with a sleeve. Yanking the hood back up over their short hair, they headed back toward the school, squaring slim shoulders against whatever teasing would come. But first, they had to find Leon and thank him. He had been kind, even if it was incredibly embarrassing.

Riblou looked confused at the oddity who had just rolled up to the ship, literally. It was a lady, in a rolling water tank, with a fish tail. He was caught off guard enough that he forgot what he was about to say about his dream,"Uh..." the huge man leaned in to look closer at her face, "Are you a fish chimera? I ain't neva seen one with a tail before... and why are you sitting in that little tank that rolls around?" He looked at kaite very confused "Have you ever seen that before kaite?" "No, I am not a chimera." Achi maintained her smile, having been told to expect such questions. Her race was not so well-traversed in the galaxy, and they turned heads just because of their unknown status. "I am a Watumaji, I am Achieng, of Clan Chima." She inclined her head politeness, and then pointed to the badge around her neck. It held her name and status on the ship- as she was not a soldier she didn't have a ranking. She ran her webbed fingers through her short, seafoam white hair as she continued to explain. "The tank is to keep me wet and for mobility. As I cannot move well on land, it is for my travels." She toyed with the edges of her tunic, which was brilliant green and gold, and felt like home. "I have been told that it is akin to a... wheel-chair for a bipedal whose legs do not function. Is this correct?"

Connor didn't bother to tell her that the only way he would stop worry about her was if he was dead, or if she was. As the sprinklers went off, he looked up. Smoke? Or had someone let it off? Even though it was perhaps too late, given that they were both wet, he shrugged off his jacket, and made a makeshift umbrella out of it with his arms and easily matching his stride with Kijani's, so they could both be under it.

Kijani smiled wanly, leaning against Connor. He was offering help, even though it was completely useless. But then, that was Connor, putting his valuable energy into things that were too broken to fix, and lost causes. Hopefully one day he would rectify that before he really got hurt. "Never a dull day in this place. Heh." Her tone was sarcastic and dry, unlike her shoes which were becoming squishy.
