I have no idea what Devika wants.

And future Kijani has been a hero and a villain, depending on the universe. But she works the best as a neutral party. We'll see which way she leans in this universe.

"Is there a reason you don't want to study law here? You're going to need a job to support yourself." Katherin asked. "Along with becoming a hero I am studying to become a councilor. The academy will fill my high school and first year of college requirements."

Devika raised her eyebrows. "I could study law here? I thought... hm..." She shook her head slightly. "I suppose it's something to consider."

Kijani smiled a bit at Connor. "Yes, you're right... it's probably the plastic that blocks me. Though I've been able to manipulate a lot of other things. Toilet paper, tissues, those little fortunes in the fortune cookies..."
KatherinWinter said
"Awesome because no one looks at you funny if it starts snowing around you. But also very stressful. Everyone has these high expectations of what you should be able to do. I can't tell you how painful it can be to see the disappointment in their eyes when you don't met their expectations." Katherin explained. She shook her head sadly. It was hard to think about those disappointed looks.

Devika nodded a little. "I know about disappointment. My parents haven't said it to me straight, but... I'm pretty sure they're waiting for me to wise up and go to law school."

"Uh" Connor could feel his cheeks heat in a blush, and Austin chuckled. Lost for words, Connor fell back what he new, "Well, I thought about actualyl making paper with the proofing properties in place, but that would have been patchy at best. You should be okay with the coating though. Better then laminating them at least"

Kijani nodded. "Laminate is hard to work with. Somehow the plastic fiddles with my senses." She was fighting back her own blush. She'd never been so forward with a boy before, and she'd done it more to distract herself from her thoughts than anything else.

"right, nearly been a week" Coonor said, wondering how o much could have happened in one week. Was this what it was like to be a teenager that communicated with the outside world? "Then you can really test the papers out!"

Kijani's false smile widened slightly into something more real. "I can't wait to see how they bend. With all that coating, I'll probably have to put a little more heft behind them. Shouldn't be too much harder, though." She looked Connor in the eyes. "Remind me to thank you... more properly later." A very mild smirk quirked her lips before she dropped the eye contact.

"Growing up among the X-men one has to know atleast basic defense. There is almost always a sparring match going on." Katherin explained. "I couldn't win a debate if my life depended on it. Which is why none of my goals need that skill."

Devika raised her eyebrows. "X-Men, huh?" She paused, thinking. "What.. what was that like? Growing up around others like you?" She'd had to learn to hide her powers since early childhood. For her own protection, in many ways.

"Clearly better then you. What's up?" Connor asked "you seemed deep in thought"

Kijani immediately made her emotions withdraw, putting a smile on. She realized she was being far too vulnerable. Maybe that was what Anthony wanted? "Oh, nothing you need to bother yourself with. I suppose... I was just thinking about getting my powers back in a few days."

Devika nodded a bit. "That would be great." She smiled vaguely. "My parents run a law office, so I grew up with practice debates rather than any sort of fighting."

"My dad is always telling me you have to be aware of your strengthes and weakness." Katherin explained with a shrug. She knew there were those who wouldn't care if they hurt someone. But Katherin had never been ok with inflicking pain on others. It might be something she would have to deal with eventually, but until then she wasn't going to inflict anymore pain then she had to. "I've been sparing with my dad for a few years. I could show you a few thing sometime. "

Devika nodded and smiled a bit. "That's good advice... And yes, if you feel like showing me a move or two, I certainly wouldn't mind it." So far, she knew how to throw a punch and guard... Theoretically, anyway.
KatherinWinter said
"Sparring is bad for everyone. I am not looking forward to it. I don't know how I can challenge. I want someone how stands a chance of not being badly hurt. With winter making my powers stronger I don't know how much damage I can do." Katherin stated worriedly.

Devika nodded a bit. "You're at your peak.. that's very conscientious of you, to be aware of your strength and not want to hurt people. I'm sorry I can't fight you. I really don't know how. I'm only just started a fighting theory class, and I'm way, way behind."

When captian Americas class finished, Connor and Austin headed to the cafeteria, grabbing a tray of food each. Connor looked about, seeing Kijani. She seemed to be in deep thought, and he hesitated, but Austin pushed him on, and they headed over to her table. Sitting down, he said "hey" with a smile

Kijani blinked a few times, as if coming out of a fog. "Oh. Hello, Connor. Hello, Austin." She attempted to smile. "How are you?"
"Hi Katherin." Devika smiled a little bit. "Well, I was thinking about sparring, and how bad it's going to be for me."
Kijani picked at her lunch. Her stomach was empty, but she wasn't hungry. Her side still throbbed with pain. Her thoughts were spinning, and she knew she had to find something, anything, t latch onto.
Devika sat outside with her food, surprisingly hungry. She'd heard rumors of sparring... and she realized she wasn't prepared to get her butt kicked the way it was going to be.

I can't see Anthony fighting a woman just for a class. He's a gentlemen, so he'd only fight a woman if he had no other choice and it was life or death.

Ah, I see. I will try not to metagame that into Kijani's brain.. *cough* Anyway... somebody's gotta fight poor Devika. It's not like it'll be hard.
