Kijani found herself in the library, breathing in the calming, familiar scent of old books. She felt safe, surrounded by her element. Nothing could touch her in here. Not Luthor, not Alpha, not... She brushed the thoughts aside, that her grandmother would do anything to hurt her. She pushed that idea way, way deep, and locked it down. She browsed the shelves until she found what she wanted in the foreign literature section. Settling onto a nice soft bean chair, she opened the Mandarin translation of The Art of War, and settled down to read familiar words.

With her classes over, Devika made a quick stop in her room to drop off her things and change into comfortable clothing. Then, she headed to the campus gym. She was desperately hoping there was no one there to watch her make a fool of herself. She stared at all the various weight machines and barbells, and realized she had absolutely no clue where to start.

Dangerous Worlds (1x1)

"I'll be careful, sweet." She smiled and headed back, pushing herself out of the cave and into the water. There, she let it wash over and sink into her skin. The cave's air had been moist, but even that had started to dry out her skin. Once she felt properly rehydrated, she shut her eyes and went very still. Tapping into the magic at her core, she imagined an image of her dear cousin Leonce's face. Blue eyes, tanned skin, frost white hair and a ready smile. She spoke his name in her mind three times, feeling the power rush through her. She held it in tight, then released it in a silent breath.

Miles away, Leonce picked his head up from his work, and turned his head toward the surface. "...Kassy..." He started to gather his traveling clothes.

Kassy headed back into the cave, surfacing and peeking around to find the boy fast asleep in the corner. "...poor little guppy." She started to tug herself around the cave, gathering the torn pages of the books.

Devika packed up her things and headed off to class too. She had tried to keep the amazement off her face during that battle. She'd never seen anything so wild in her life. Though, it was surprising. The smaller girl had won, in a clever way. She would have thought all the raw power that Sue threw around would have made things simple for her. Maybe not. There were all sorts of styles of fighting here. Maybe she could pick one up.

Also, what's next? This class is over so it's on to individual classes, right?

Oh.

Hung out with my boyfriend for a belated birthday celebration. Went to have slushies, then to a comic shop (I splurged on Fables #1 and Attack on Titan #3, birthday coupon). Then we went to this great Japanese place. Not just sushi, mind you, but a lot of hot dishes too. Most of which we'd never heard of- Google was involved for translation purposes.

Then we went home and watched the first episode of Cosmos together. Mind-blowing stuff, I loved it.
