Connor thought if he had had to prove he could use his suit, he still wouldn't have it. He smiled, "that's great! Do you have a name for it?" He picked up one of the brownies and bit into it

"A name? No, not yet. I figure one will come to me in time." She snagged a half of a thick roast beef sandwich. "Mmm... I really need to stop skipping meals. I love good food."

Connor wanted to hug her, to hold her together. But he didn't. Instead, he met her eyes, and said, "I never say a word I don't mean, that I don't intend to live up to" he said, his voice strong, even as he spoke softly, "I will always come through. I'll prove that to you. For now...." He shrugged "for now, you have a pole of food to eat"

Kijani smiled at him. She didn't have words to respond to his promises, so she just ran with the last thing he'd said. "It's a celebration lunch. I got my sword today, from Weaponsmaster Thor. Proof that I'm capable of carrying around a weapon- and all the responsibilities of that as well." Gently she stroked the long wooden box. "It's a beautiful blade. I'll show you later. Would you like to join me? I've got enough food for like.. five people."
*laughs* I love how equal opportunity John is about girls. No judgement, just 'yeah, I'd hit that'.

Connor took a moment to answer, giving her hand a squeeze"people are unpredictable. Just when you think you have them in a box, they will slip out, shock and surprise you. But yes, the fundamentals can fit into a box. Ah hell, you can't predict what people will do, can't predict everything, and for the love of god, don't tell Austin I said that or he won't shut up that he was right. You're tired. I can see that, and do you know how unbelievably frustrating it is that you won't let me help? I don't need to know everything to help"

Kijani sighed softly. "Let me try to explain something. Accepting your help is... putting faith in another person. That they will actually live up to their words." Her gaze fell to stare blankly at the table, and for a moment the mask she so carefully composed day after day slipped. She looked worn to the bone, and fragile, as if something within her was held together with glue and glass, ready to break... Then she picked her gaze up and the mask was back as if it had never been lost. "I don't know if I'm capable of that. I don't think I can stop second guessing people, or planning what to do when they don't come through."
Kijani was caught with a mouthful of brownie lava cake in her mouth, and she wasn't about to run away from her food. She stared up at Connor, wide eyed, and listened to him the whole way through. Even after she took a long drink, she was still rather speechless. Finally, she patted the chair beside her. "Sit down." Once he was beside her, she sighed softly. "Connor." She reached out and held his hand. "I... may be rather hasty in my assumptions about other people." She was gazing into his eyes, and he could likely see the traces of fatigue there. "For me, everyone has to fit into a box. So I know what to expect, so I know what to do in return. When people don't fix in the boxes I have, well... I'm..." Now her gaze went distant. "...lost." And when she was lost, she was scared...

Devika's explanation made some sense. But really, what were they trying to do? "I don't see how putting possible heroes and villains together in one place is a smart idea. They make this place and train them no matter what." Laughing slightly 533 hands Devika the page back. "They're going to make a much bigger war than they ever had. Places like where I come from are taking the opportunity to prepare. We're the ones that are going to suffer their weakness. It'll be hilarious."

Devika nodded slowly. "Hilarious. Right." She took her paper and folded it up again, tucking it away. "I've gotta go or I'll be late. Bye!" She rushed off to her Superhero/Civilian communications class. It was small, but there were more older students there. Many times there was lively debate and always a good discussion.
Well, Devika's post is going to have a mini-timeskip in it so Devika can go to class.
I can't find 533's post...
Kijani was taking up a good portion of a lunch table with various plates of food. Sandwiches, soups, salads, desserts, she even had a few drinks. She was feasting like a queen, and the box with the jian nestled safely inside lay on the chair beside her.
