Is it alright if Edward has a very primitive, inaccurate firearm, or is it maybe too early (In the RP timeline) for that?

Given that objects on the list include magic blades and crazy spells, I see no problem with a primitive firearm. Maybe it's a novelty?

The RP thus far

The plot is hard to pin down. So far at any one time there have been two to four separate groups of PCs all doing very different things. Right now is the first and only time ALL the PCs have gathered in the same place.

Essentially, all of them woke up in a strange dark jungle. After their separate journeys, most PCs are now aware that each Lantern contains a glowing egg, which grants the lantern-bearer protection from the man-eating forest. Most PCs are also aware of the existence of two warring factions of people inhabiting the forest: the Kith and the Pirates. Some have met or heard of the elusive Sparrow King, which may be a third interested party.

Right now: more than a day has gone by and the sky is still black. The PCs are gathered warily at a fully-functional inn they found in the middle of the forest, which has fresh food and a hearth burning but no people. The more suspicious characters have set up camp downstream, while a few are contemplating the safety of the inn.

Essentially, though, a new character would wake up suddenly in this new place (maybe after having been accidentally summoned by an existing PC) so you'd have a chance to learn what's going on as your character does. No transition required. :)

- We currently have a princess, an herbalist, a survivalist, and an innkeeper's ward still (somewhat) active. In the beginning there was a rule that no one was permitted to begin with any sort of weapon or weapons knowledge, but since all the current characters have since found some kind of power or strength through their adventures, starting out with a knight's mentality and abilities might be appropriate.

- Boisterous and outgoing might be just what they need right now, actually. The PCs have been playing in separate groups, some have just met each other, and suspicion runs high.
