I'll try to work on things more and get an OC up in a few hours.
@Pirouette I suppose you don't have to read anything since the story won't be affected too much by the plot of the actual series. Maybe just visit the wiki for whatever topic I'm talking about which doesn't makes sense to you.
@Sunbather I'm okay with different races.

@Pirouette You don't need to be super familiar with it, but I suggest you take a look at it some more since not everyone likes the quirkiness of One Piece.

@Zapdos Still easy mode though.

I wonder how many characters are gonna die in the first arc.
@FiroIV Sure thing. Just include in their history why they're not in the GL.

@jynmi88 I'm cool with either.

@Rhodus No haki.

@jynmi88 Uhm, yeah? I'm pretty sure no one has made characters yet.

@FiroIV No problem, I was eventually gonna tell everyone anyway.

Here you go guys. A brief PREMISE and the CHARACTER SHEET.

PREMISE

CHARACTER SHEET
Oh hey, another One Piece RP!... I have a fair bit of interest in this stuff, so I think I'll throw my hat into the ring... I actually particularly like filling roles such as Engineers, so I will be more than interested in making an Engineer/inventor sort of character ;3

A good question though would be, does race matter? XD such as being a fishman or something?

On a side note, I'd half expect advances in weaponry, considering how much fighting tended to go on regularly and that they already had all kinds of ludicrous varieties of gun-powder weaponry going around... If not... I'd be more than happy for my Engineer to work on that >3> I love tinkering with new weaponized inventions! :D
Would race matter in regards to what exactly? I mean, if you're a fishman, you'd have fish-like physiology, increased strength, and be an amazing swimmer.

Advances in weaponry wouldn't be uncommon. Tech in OP kinda varies depending on where they go, so its kind of hard to define. Generally, single-action flint locks are kinda old. Don't wanna establish a hard limit on tech, so feel free to go with what you're comfortable with as long as it remains reasonable. Robotics, cyborgs, lasers, and the like won't really fly as general tech.

Heh, I've seen a lot of OP roleplays pitched, but I'm still waiting for one to get off th eground. :P I'd certainly be interested though. I have a couple questions:

- Are the general structures still in place? i.e. new four Yonkos, new Shichibukai, World Government with new/old Admirals and such?
- Where would our character start off, development-wise? Pretty much newbies, like the Strawhats were when they first started? Or more advanced?
- (obvious One Piece question is obvious) What about Devil Fruits? Available? Later? Only canon? Custom?
- Will canon characters appear in aged versions?
Going with new everything as far as characters and positions go. As for starting point, we'll be doing "Just about to enter the grand line" for the first arc.

Development-wise, probably around Arlong and Don Krieg level? You can start with DFs; I'm fine with either canon or custom.

As for canon characters, won't say no since its a possibility, but don't expect too much. If you feel like mentioning some in your character's bio, fill me in on what you're going for so that I can say if its cool or not.

Since you mentioned that dials would be a thing I take it the concept of sky islands are now a common thing? As i remember sky islander's were not a common thing in the era Luffy and co existed. Also I was wondering what "Schools as Prisons" indicate, it's a specific enough phrasing that I take it this is a specific idea.

As for location will we be visiting established areas in the canon and if so will they have changed?

Also in terms of arc, since you mentioned initial arc I have to ask if we're starting already as a group or as individuals that will become a group?
The world is gonna be more aware of the sky island, but still far from being part of the norm. Sorry about the school thing; I think that's a typo from autocorrect. I think that was supposed to be Such As instead of School As.

Visiting canon locations isn't unlikely, but no clear plans yet. And if they'll be changed or not, I'll decided when it'd become significant to the story or to someone's bio. I mean, I haven't planned the entire journey and where to go, just certain plot points that could help us advance the story when needed. The details of each island though, I'll leave that for later.

More of individuals who'll become a group. Everyone will start of as relatively experienced pre-grand line pirates. You can be infamous or have bounties if you want. Spoilers, but oh well. The first arc will be everyone being captured and shipped to a prison.

I might be interested in joining. I have an idea for a self-taught doctor who uses the Mera Mera no Mi that could be fun to roleplay as.
Going with a logia is kinda doing things on easy mode, but sure, go for it.

@FiroIV Not quite sure how to categorize posting, but definitely quality over quantity that focuses on advances the story. Probably an average of paragraph or two at least and no one liners.

As for story tone, light hearted but with the occasional inclusion of more serious themes. I suppose we're leaning towards the vibe that most of the first half of the Grand Line gave off.

Advances in the world would mainly be focused on transportation. Dirigibles and submarines would be more common. Subsequently, the use of a few dials would also be a thing. Some locations, school as prisons and bases would be changed while everything else will mostly stay the same.
50 years have passed since the last Pirate King roamed the seas. Monkey D. Luffy and his band of merry men were notorious throughout the world for traversing the mysterious Grand Line, conquering the New World and obtaining the truth about the origins of both the World Government and the network of sailors who call themselves, Pirates. Towards the end of his journey, Luffy had obtained the respect of many islands and focused his attention on cleaning up the seas of those who he deemed to be 'bad'. However, although he managed to rid the world of many evil Pirates and Marines alike, the world inevitably keeps turning and history continues to repeat itself in the form of new dreamers setting sail onto the greatest sea in the world. Not long after he ascended to the seat of Pirate King, the greatest crew in the world simply vanished.

Without a trace or word, there was nobody left alive who could account for the whereabouts of the Straw Hats, some hypothesized that in order to live a peaceful life the Straw Hats had took it upon themselves to flee to Raftel, or one of the Sky Islands, where they would forever remain undisturbed till the end of their days. On the year of the turtle, Luffy declared that he had left the greatest treasure ever to have existed, One Piece, in its rightful place, waiting there for the next crew who were destined to become the new kings of the sea. Ushering the world into the next era, whispers float through the Grand Line and the Blues, the seat of Pirate King is once again up for grabs and those who seek power, fame and fortune are once again sailing towards their dreams.

Although I made use of the Large Group tag, I'll only be accepting around 6-10 characters who'll all end up in a single crew. I'll explain the details on why you're all actually together later on, just know that your characters don't need to know each other beforehand. Them meeting is simply coincidental and just due to the circumstances they're currently in.

The type of story I'm going with is one of adventure and exploration, so basically what the Straw Hats are doing. Don't misunderstand though, I'm not saying that we'll be mimicking them. After the initial arc, succeeding stories would be presented to all of you as a list of options you can take. It would range from visiting various islands, rumors that can be tackles with, confrontations with other characters, or some random anomaly. The more diversity your characters have, the more options you'll be presented with. An example would be having an actual navigator, so the number of islands you'll be given to choose from will be higher or the chances of running into a storm would be lower. Another would be having a bounty hunter of some kind would give you more knowledge on current bounties and reputations of other pirates. The presence of an engineer/shipwright/carpenter could give you the option of stealing another ship or supplies needed to pimp up your own ride. If everyone wants to start of as an adventurer who only knows how to fight, that's not a problem; no need to force yourselves into making a character that would fit certain roles. If we reach a comfortable and stable pace, I'll be open to accepting more characters, a second crew, or even characters who want to be part of another faction like the marines.

Anyway, I'll leave it at that first and see if anyone finds this thing interesting enough before tackling other aspects of the story.

CHARACTER SHEET

Sorry to keep you waiting! Welcome to the world of Pokémon! My name is Muffinator. But everyone calls me the guy who's makeing a Pokémon RP. Before we go any further, I'd like to tell you a few things you should know about this world! This world is widely inhabited by creatures known as Pokémon and we humans live alongside them. Well, that's it for now. A little lacking? I completely agree. That's why you're here to help me out.

Currently, I'm at a dilemma of what type of RP to go with. I'm hoping that a few of you could help me decide or help me come up with a decent concept that a good amount would enjoy.

So far, here are my ideas.
  • Your typical story of a young trainer, traveling throughout the world of Pokemon to have an adventure and become the very best. Its been done before, countless of times. But if it ain't broken, why fix it?
  • The setting of our story will be set in a fantasy-like era. Adventure will play a major role in this tale. You'll be a member of an adventuring guild, who take up various kinds of work, ranging from exploration to mercenary-related requests. Pokemon will be somewhat magical creatures who become your partner once a bond/pact is made between the two of you. So basically, you're some type of vagabond summoner. Sounds interesting enough, I think.
  • This time, it'll be more of a survival story. You'll be plunged into the world of pokemon, where they'll serve as wild creatures who'll do their best to kill or eat you. They can probably do others things to you, but that's not that relevant. Imagine this to be a combination of Monster Hunter and Re: Monster. The more you defeat, the stronger you'll become. Making equipment out of the creatures you kill won't be that far-fetched too.

Maybe you liked one of the ideas shown here or you might just have a better one that you'd want to suggest? I'm all ears and ready to listen up.
