Dear Mr Curly,
I have done little travelling lately because I have been so dreadfully weary. Can it be true as the old Ecclesiastes said; that all things lead to weariness? Surely not. Perhaps the opposite is true: that all nothings lead to weariness. I have a peculiar feeling, Curly, that I am worn out from something I haven't yet done and the more I don't do it, the more exhausted I become. How strange. Could it be something I haven't realised? Perhaps it's something I haven't said? Something I haven't finished! It must be very large and true whatever it is and a lively struggle in the doing but I look forward to it immensely. I know I need it. First, however, I must curl up in my chair and sleep deeply with the duck. Perhaps I'll dream of this thing and wake up refreshed and do it. My fond wishes to you Mr. Curly, and to all Curly Flat.
Yours sleepily,
Vasco Pyjama

P.S. Not having breakfast can make you weary. That's for sure!

With little breakfast remaining, Gallus didn't have too much else to discuss before they would head to the dungeon, but he did have one idea to propose. "I was thinking. What if..." Gallus leaned forward and slowed his speech, "...we were to attempt a ruse. They know you two; the clan leader and the champion of Hircine, but I am just a tag-along. They don't know me, that much was clear from the taunts of that assassin." Gallus straightened and lifted a hand, "Now, I would see them questioned more conventionally to test their loyalties before we try anything, but if I get some privacy with them one on one and put myself across as a potential defector - give them some hope of escape, even - well, we could gain the trust of one if it is done right?" He offered a gesture to Meesei, "As well, playing them off one another may be useful. If one seems more likely to betray than another, we could push them to act by saying that their friends are turning against them. It could be delicate, but knowing the right words for the right people will make all the difference."

Gallus put the last of his breakfast into his mouth and chewed with a smug smile. They would probably head off after Meesei responded.

"Uhm...we have been fine, thank you for asking," Fendros said, glancing to Ahnasha and Rhazii, and then back to Irenya. "On the road, Rhazii and Ahnasha had a few headaches, and if any of us stood up to quickly, we would get quite powerful head rushes, but apart from that, no problems, no." Fendros looked to his food and almost took another bite, "I'm mostly glad that we didn't have to worry about sunburn so much."

Fendros wasn't sure what Irenya's intentions were, but her shifts in confidence hinted at wanting to ask something in particular. Out of habitual respect for elders, Fendros did not presume to ask Irenya to get to the point. In fact, it was actually odd to have someone elder to him act so nervously around him.

....next post he flips back.

I just want to say that I'm still here, I have just been doing that sleep thing for the past several hours. I don't mind the OOC pace, I can catch up with it.

As for the IC, I just wonder...for all the meddling that has been done, how many people have poured might into the act of trolling Toun with messing with the designs? Toun's contribution to the big bang has been poured into this, he's going to make sure it isn't completely wrecked by little nudges.
Gallus was catching up with Uthri when Meesei found him. They appeared to be in the middle of a serious conversation when Meesei arrived, but Gallus completely changed his demeanour when he spotted her and Ri'vashi walking up to them. It was odd to see only Uthri and Gallus together for a meal, but with Peiter and Tzirret taking more of their meals elsewhere and Irenya apparently otherwise occupied, there they were.

"Right, of course," Gallus said, slightly stilted. He bowed his head to each of them, "Good morning."

"Good morning to you both," Uthri said as well with a smile. She sounded much more natural than Gallus.

After hurriedly finishing another mouthful, Gallus seemed to have gathered himself substantially. He paused in his eating to ask, "So, these prisoners. How did you want to approach this interrogation?"

When Irenya took a seat next to Fendros, he paused in his eating to give her a strange look. "Good morning?" Fendros said as a courtesy, despite it revealing confusion. Without much else, Fendros just continued eating.

The apparent attempt at conversation that Irenya made only served to exacerbate Fendros' confusion, but he humoured her all the same. Perhaps she was just trying to be nice for a change. Fendros answered with a similar tone to Irenya, "More or less, yes. With the clan being generous enough to provide us all with rooms, I would say we even have more than we need. What about yourself? I trust you have been busy treating the impostor, yes?"

Can I have the leg meat?

Then maybe me and Vestec can split the chest over dinner and talk about our disagreements

EDIT: I think Toun was referring to the sun god being a sun and sustaining life, but amputating a part of one's essence will certainly do the job for now.
So, Deadpool was pretty awesome. The humour in it was surprisingly not cringey. The references probably won't age well though, heheh.
Perhaps in the heat of the moment at the gate, Ma'tanza's last sentence would be less true, but Tzirret was embarrassed enough by now it turned out that it was true enough for now. With Ma'tanza's words and smile, Tzirret dropped his worries. "Okay," Tzirret swallowed and nodded, "This one guesses he is just overreacting then."

Though it still held a bit of tension, Tzirret returned Ma'tanza's smile and drew her into a hug. "He is sorry for worrying about nothing," Tzirret said in a descending tone, as if his words were routine. The hug lasted longer than Tzirret intended - he even planted a kiss on the side of Ma'tanza's head - but they pulled away soon enough. Tzirret had a much more relieved smile on his face at that point. "Let's keep looking for a bath."

Gallus didn't laugh along with Ri'vashi. He barely managed a smile. He was still looking forward in thought as Ri'vashi spoke, but he turned his eyes up to look at her by the time she finished. "But of course. If you need me, just ask around. There aren't many wolves among these clans." Gallus looked forward again, his smile fading. "I think I'll stick around for a bit, maybe do some target practice. That tends to straighten out my thoughts. I'll probably see what Meesei got out of the prisoners afterwards. I'll see to you later, Ri'vashi."
Alright, I'm heading off to see Deadpool with a couple of friends soon. I'll say G'night now.
Tzirret turned his head slightly and looked to the ground. He spoke quietly, but it was quiet enough to hear him on this level of the ruins. "Well, it's just...back there at the gate, you just seemed...you said you were just surprised, but it sounded like you were trying to say something more." Tzirret gave Ma'tanza a quick glance, "If there is something wrong with Tzirret, Ma'tanza can say so."

When Gallus noticed Ri'vashi staring, almost judgingly, he returned the look with a raised eyebrow. The comments that followed caused Gallus to look ahead again and reflect. He very slowly bit on the inside of his cheek and drew his jaw across from one side to another.

"Well, you aren't wrong," Gallus responded in a deep mumble, "You say it's not going to be a permanent harm to them? That's a relief. Perhaps I...have been projecting a little." Gallus' admission came with a guilty pursing of his lips. "Well, in that case, I suppose all I should do is be there for support when it finally does happen."

After another moment, Gallus turned his head to Ri'vashi with a grave expression. "You've given me something to think about," he said tightly, "I think that makes us even for now." He slowly brought his hand up and roughly clapped Ri'vashi on the shoulder before letting his arm drop to his side. His expression remained somewhat grave, as if he was reflecting on more than just his charges now. "Thanks."
It took a couple of moments for Tzirret to glance up at Ma'tanza and finally take her hand. He stood up and stopped being so withdrawn, but hung his head awkwardly. "Yeah, a bath sounds nice," Tzirret admitted.

Tzirret and Ma'tanza walked hand in hand, trying to find the spot where the clan usually bathes, but Tzirret was quiet and distant for a while. Whenever he thought he should say something, his thoughts went back to being embarrassing himself and he closed his mouth. Perhaps fortunately for the sake of breaking the awkward silence, fears that were not likely rational started to peek up into Tzirret's mind. They became prevalent enough that Tzirret asked about them reluctantly.

"Is there...something else wrong?" Tzirret asked quietly. Predominantly, he was fearing that there was something unattractive about himself, but whatever was in Ma'tanza's reaction could have been just as likely to do with just herself.

"Oh, no-no-no, not myself," Gallus said, shaking his head and looking to the floor, "No, me? I just...well, it took my a long time to realise it, but at their age, I was the one hurting people. I went through many girls, and as I became an adult, I went through many women. Still do, despite slowing down. In fact, slowing down just seems to hurt people more. They get more attached, you see."

Gallus narrowed his eyes and put his hand forward. "But, here's my concern; I don't feel like it would be a good thing for the boys to go through the same experience of being torn away like my past partners. I don't necessarily know that it will be because their partners...are unloyal. In fact, I doubt it, but...well, the one in the Senchal clan is going to separate by necessity. Unless she makes the rash decision to move to Bruma with us. I certainly wouldn't allow one of my boys to separate from their pack on the whim of a young romance, much less condone something similar on the other side." Gallus brought his hand up to his temple and sighed, "They're going to get hurt, I know it. I just need to judge whether it would be something permanent, like you say."

Whether Gallus realised it or not, the paradox of having so many relationship experiences come and go while not knowing how easy heartbreak is to get over was somewhat telling of the fears he was projecting on Peiter and Tzirret.
