@rush99999 The game includes a custom background that every character is required to take. In place of a normal background bonus, players will have the option of taking a feat from a list of feats approved for the background, sort of. All the feats on the list normally include a stat increase, but when taken for the background won't have the stat increase.

As for the piety system; Again, this campaign won't feature the gods of Theros. The piety system revolves around devotion to the specific gods of Theros. Every thing in that system beyond just the concept of the system itself references the gods of Theros. What you have to accomplish to earn piety; What actions you take that cost you peity; Even what benefits you get for reaching specific piety levels. All of those things are based on the unique gods of Theros, most of which don't have a one-to-one counterpart in Greek Mythology.

More over, a very important aspect of the Odyssey as an epic is that the journey itself only occurs because the gods are, by and large, upset at Odysseus. Half, or more, of the bad things that happen along the journey are because Odysseus offended one or more gods in some manner and the hardship he faces is divine retribution.

So, not only is there no way for me to make the piety system work, mechanically, it would also be at odds with the narrative as a whole. I just don't know how I would get it to fit.
Oh! I've always wanted to be part of a Theros game! Count me in!

Not Theros.

Theros, while also being Greek mythology inspired, has its own lore and setting that is unique to Theros. This campaign would be in keeping with an actual ancient Greek epic. The gods would include Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon, not Keranos, Erebos, and Thassa.

While the two are thematically similar, there is enough difference that a reimagining of the Odyssey doesn't quite work for Theros. For one thing, Akros - the Theros equivalent to Troy - is a land-locked nation that would have no way of being attacked from the ocean.
This is a check to see if people would be interested in a game of Dungeons and Dragons (5th edition, 2014) heavily inspired by the Homeric classic: The Odyssey.

Important things to note:

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is primarily a check for interest in the game idea. I am not currently promising this game would start in the near future, nor am I locking in spots for players at this time. I am looking to see what interest exists, as well as other forms of feedback.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask them here. Comments and concerns, if any, are also welcome.
Brutrumukk, whom is currently a gnome:"...yer sayin' booyagh wrong."

Voth

"What booyahg will you feed it with? Grankhul has yet to grant me such." Voth would retort, before looking over at the chariot. As small as it was, there was no way it carried enough raw meat to feed the owlbear for more than a day. The creature clearly had no interest in any other food, even as hungry as it seemed. "If it was a fey owned the beast, like as not they used booyahg to feed it. Without such, I have doubts you'd be able to travel as well as feed the beast."

He would switch to the goblin tongue before continuing, not wanting to reveal any secrets to more people than he had to."Took the worgs my clan kept barely two days to eat a deer whole. There was only two such we kept. This beast here has the heft of four, to the least. My time here, largest meal I've hunted in a day was two brace of hares. Hunger gets to it, it's like to run off to hunt without reason to return. If the brothers decide asudden to smile on your fortunes, the beast won't be hungry enough to bite the hand that didn't feed it enough. Large as it is, and small as you are, more like to take a whole arm than a hand. If just that."
The rest of the party has foraged before, and I will say that Voth has foraged before as well...

So, Voth would know that foraging for food in Prismeer would yield various treats.

In Hither, there wasn't much game available as that area was a dog-eat-dog area. Many of the small animals were doing their best to avoid predators.

In Thither, Voth isn't sure because he just arrived here with the rest of the party.

So, at least to Voth's knowledge, not much in the way of large game?
If we were speaking in general terms, what would you say in the largest prey animal Voth would have seen in Prismeer that didn't talk?

@Guardian Angel Haruki What manner of wild game is available in Prismeer? It's in the feywild, so I'd imagine there are animals of some kind. However, a good number of them can probably talk, and would be protected by the three rules. So what does that leave for food?
Voth

"Wait," Voth would interject, after hearing Brutrumukk's declaration. "You intend to claim the beast? We do not know for certain if its master was slain. Claiming it while the owner lives would break the rule of ownership."

Stepping forward, Voth would begin shaking his head. "I am not one to allow laws to direct my path. Be ware, though, the rules of this place enforce themselves. Petty theft may be met with petty punishment, but a beast like this would fetch a high price even among goblin-kin. With the hag coven to rule in Zybilna's absence, there is little and less to say the rules will be charitable to outsiders. We risk ripping the beast's price from our own hides, if any among us tries to claim it."
@Guardian Angel Haruki Probably should have verified this sooner, but Voth has been in Prismeer long enough to know about the three rules, right? I don't personally recall the penalties for breaking them, but would Voth have seen what happens when they're broken? Now that the three are in charge, I mean.
