Hey diddle diddle I am a cat without a fiddle.

Bio

So it all began when I was born... *goes on a long speech about their life story from birth to present day*
And that's how I became who I am today. Good story?

My name is Mizu Neko. I am more-or-less a NEET, due to reasons I do not want to get into. So I have a lot of time to spare from my worthless life. :^) I try to draw, which after a few years of no improvement, I feel I might be improving very slightly. I guess I just needed to try more poses. I also feel I should try drawing more characters than the Mizu twins, but whatever, I'll get to it someday.

I also like to write and I feel like I am better at it than drawing, though not by much. I am working on a story called Neko no Shousetsu - Kiiro no Sekai, which basically means, "A cat's novel - The Yellow world". Which the second part doesn't really make sense. It isn't a yellow world. It's basically named that because the main character has yellow hair and the world itself is called KiiroSekai. It will have an alternate take from Neko's rival's point of view, which will be called Inu no Shousetsu - Kiiro no Sekai. I know if we went with the hair colour naming scheme, it'd be akai no sekai, meaning red world. But again, the world itself is called KiiroSekai.

I am planning other series as well, I am just trying to focus on KiiroSekai above all other stories, so Xero will have to wait, even though I had Xero in my mind much longer. I do not claim to be great at writing, in fact that's the whole reason I decided to start roleplaying in the first place.

Music I listen to is hardly varied. I either listen to weeaboo music or something edgy like Linkin Park. That's about it honestly. My favourite songs are: Basically anything from Kagerou Project, Irony by ClariS, and basically anything from Hybrid Theory or Meteora.

My favourite colour is yellow and my favourite food is orange chicken. I hate dogs and find them ugly and annoying similar to a baby. I don't have a problem with their owners (though a lot of them can be crazy) but dogs in general I just do not like. I have many fears and I am rather cowardly. Likewise, I am pretty emotional and I cry often.

I watch anime, I feel that I've hardly seen anything, but I guess I'm all right with how much I have. I'm starting to lose the whole feeling I used to have when watching anime. Not sure why, but it might have to do with a majority of its community being annoying rats. Other than that, I also try to keep up with 50+ series per season but then end up making it only a few because fuck that shit. If you wish to have my MAL account, here it is: https://myanimelist.net/animelist/NekoMizu My list of Chinese cartoons, enjoy mate. I've been getting more into manga than anime, which my list does not prove whatsoever. If you have any *new* manga you'd like to suggest, go ahead. I'd really appreciate that.

I play games, though not many. Not as much as I used to. I mainly just play Nintendo games like SSBM and Pokemon. I have a PS4 but have nothing to play on it, I bought PS3 games thinking they'd be playable, but nope. I also *sometimes, but rarely* play Runescape (OSRS) and my IGN: Sansational. My favourite game I'd have to say is Donkey Kong 64 (I wish they would bring the kongs back. Especially Chunky Kong)

In terms of language, the only thing I speak is English. I am learning how to speak Japanese, though I'm not good at it quite yet. I have taken Japanese classes for five years.

**I would prefer not to be called an Otaku, please.**

Currently watching:
Pokemon Sun and Moon
Dragon Ball Super
That one fall 2016 anime about girls and ping pong.

@NekoMizu It's looking good so far! Removing some of the commentary from it would help me greatly, however. ^^;

Although some of the commentary is honest such as the origins of your characters' inspirations, that kind of confused me when I first looked at it. Removing some of that commentary would make it cleaner! See my feedback to Keyenpeydee's character sheet in Page 3 to know what I'm referring to, as it's similar to what he had to fix initially.

Also, the identical names made me brainfart. Maybe you could change one of their names...? I'm intending on doing a special aesthetic for the Character Tab List but it might confuse other RPers if their names are the same. x-x

Looking good though. Sibling powah. o-o;

Oh wow. I actually forgot the name change for the sister. Though her actual name might be a bit similar too. It's Mizu Koneko instead of Neko. I just forgot to do that part for some reason.

Name: Mizu Neko

Age: I guess 20 lel

Gender: What is this? Male.

Occupation: Story writer for a few well known light novel series.

Personality: Oftentimes shuts himself inside the house since he doesn't like going outside. He's laidback and generally goes along with most things. He dislikes dogs, holes (trypophobia), and social activites. He likes cats, his sister, his computer, and food (Specifically orange chicken). He draws, but fails at it, making him upset quite often, so he just sticks with writing.

Background: The shut-in of shut-ins, staying indoors most of the time ever since he was young. He's been anti-social for as long as he can remember and the only thing keeping him from staying inside all the time is his sister.

Room Number: I guess 3.

Name: Mizu Neko

Age: 20 as well twins tend to do that.

Gender: Female

Occupation: Idol (At a young age; quit the job) and the artist for Neko's light novel series'.

Personality: Complains at Neko a lot about going outside and being social, and often forces him outside, to which he would just be on his phone or handheld game. When she isn't being uptight with him, she is very clingy to him. She doesn't like the fact her brother is a shut-in that's about it. She likes her brother, oranges, and secretly going on her brother's computer.

Background: She became an idol very young, after both of the parents died, she and her brother had to find a way of pulling in money. She was offered the chance to become an idol and chose to go through with it. At first, she enjoyed it, but she grew tired of it. She never got well known, so she wasn't getting much money (from the one fan she did have, her brother). So her brother decided to start making LN's and included her as the artist and she eventually quit her idol career. (I basically took Momo from Kagerou Project and altered it to make her not be an idol in the end. I guess it could be like a what-if thing for momo.)

Room Number: 3.

Showing a bit of interest. Not sure how it'd go, seeing as I've never roleplayed before, but gotta get used to rping somehow right? I have a question though. Can I make two characters, like siblings? Also I think this was covered in the first post, but do characters have to be in every episode or can just be in certain ones? I'll be making cs when I get on my computer.
@Volenvradica
Well, I'm interested, for any matter. But I doubt I'd be good at it.
Would this still have us going through disney worlds and stuff?

My first RP ever. I'm making this my first because I know about it the most since it's the story I've been working on for years alongside a couple of friends. One of my two main stories, and my most developed and worked on story at all that is still being worked on. (I am constantly restarting because of dissatisfaction, so I decided to try to learn how to write good and feel satisfied which is why I am here)

Anyway, I suppose that's it. Unless a character sheet should be included here.

@Polaris North

Wait, is it against forum rules to post this in Casual and general? Like both areas?
@NekoMizu I suggest you do some research on google about what people are discussing here. Particularly Steampunk and the stuff Aix was talking about. you don't need to read the entire wiki page, but it'll help you understand what a genre is. Steampunk is most certainly not future anything though, despite having technology that has never and will never be invented.

You also need to state what "the way you are thinking of" representing a "modern/future/past" world is. I've seen post-apocalyptic settings where it's the future, but due to resource shortages people rely on modern and old technology. Is that what you're talking about?

I'm just thinking about a fantasy world that simply has future technology in some regards, modern technology in others, and medieval/past technology as well and it taking place in one of those eras. Most likely past or future. If we're talking about a mix of all three, anyway.

If we're talking about mix of modern and medieval I mean a fantasy world that takes place in a medieval type era, where swords and bows are the most prominent types of weapons (as well as magic), but has modern/semi-modern technology already set in the world, so not taken in by the main character like in Re:zero or No Game No Life. Think of like SAO or Log Horizon, but the game world has phones, computers, and other modern technology.

I'll read about it to get a general idea of what steampunk is, yeah. Thank you for the suggestion.
Watch A Knight's Tale. It's a really love it or hate it film and you'll realize whether you love it or hate it in the very first scene as you watch a bunch of medieval peasants at a joust pound out the beat to Queen's We Will Rock You

That sounds amazing not gonna lie.
A lot of current Japanese fantasy fiction seem to be a mix of modern day and medieval fantasy, generally explained by magic significantly raising the quality of life. Major examples of this that come to mind are Fairy Tail and Re:Zero.

Would you really consider re:zero modern? I mean, it starts off in modern Japan, yes and there is a phone, but besides that there's nothing related to modern day at all. I'm talking about modern or like maybe a little bit in the past technology preset in the world that is mostly medieval. Not sure much about Fairy Tail, since I've only seen one episode.

The idea of mixing the medieval ages and the present is pretty incompatible. Why bother stabbing shit with a sword when you can shoot it from a half mile away? Why put a guy on horse-back to deliver a message when it's quicker to call the person up on the telephone?

"Why stab shit with a sword when you can shoot from a half mile away?" I never said there had to be guns, just any modern technology, computers for example. It doesn't have to be completely modern. Plus why stab shit with a sword when you can get a bow and shoot shit from a half mile away?

<Snipped quote by NekoMizu>

If we're going to be super duper technical...

While Steampunk is considered a sub-genre of science fiction, it often takes place in an alternate past where industrial steam powered machinery progressed a lot further and became mainstream. So it's not science fiction because it takes place in the future, but because these worlds rely on steam powered machinery that never existed. Science fiction is actually defined by the scientific advancements of it's world, which are usually in the distant future.

As for a modern/Sci-fi/Fantasy mix, the closest things I can think of is Magic Realism.

As Aix said, the Japanese love to do modern fantasy. It's hard to look at an anime list and not see at least one like that.

I personally do not understand what steampunk is, I just get from what I've seen that it is past/future mix. Is a modern/future/past even possible to do? I understand that there are a lot of modern fantasy, but not in the way that I am thinking of.
