I might slowly be coming back to life. Getting laid off does give one more time to think about stories and such.

Bio
I'm a 30-something woman just looking to keep those writing muscles in whatever shape I can. I'm also Canadian, so fill the rest of this bio with every stereotype you can think of. I've also single, so clearly I'm a catch.
I will say I'm holding applications open for a bit yet. Last time I got 30 for 8 slots, so I'm not expecting that kind of rush, but something close too it.
Co-GM:@WriterRavenAccepting Applications Until: I get an off day next week or so to start.
RP Size: - 8-9 people (including GM and co-GM)
RP Genre: - It's Pokemon. OK, It's Modern Pokemon, a darker version of Pokemon with Slice of Life and Crime elements (and it will be using all the updated facts, so Fairy types and the new moves are all in.)
RP Post Frequency: I'm not picky, but I'd like things to be up within 1-2 weeks. Waiting is what killed this the last time.
RP Post Size: I'm actually really light for an Advanced GM, two to three solid paragraphs is fine, since I know the battle ones will make up for a lot. Collab posts are heavily encouraged, since it allows for much more dialogue to be contained in a single space, and I like seeing dialogue abound. Skype is a big help for that and I'll encourage the sharing of contact info between all successful applicants.
GM Notes: So Indigo is an RP that I ran on the old site for a solid three and a half years, although it was limping along during the last year with half the roster pretty much non-existent. We barely got into the Lavender Town story arc before it basically died, and I had everything all planned out so I really want to get to at least Celadon this time around. As such that's a lot of existing content that I will be using during the course of this RP with obvious tweaks to fit the new cast. Now I know at least half the people from the old site have moved onto here, so they will have priority signup slots but I would love to see some new blood in here. I think it would make the distance between falling to the ghosts of Lavender and potentially getting to the climatic end of what I had planned.
---
Setting: The RP is set approximately 10 years after the events of the original Red and Blue series of games. Many of the original characters and NPCs are still in place but they have grown with time into their existing roles. The native Pokemon of Kanto has expanded with the migration of Johto Pokemon and Kanto is experiencing a new era of prosperity. However there are rumblings that not everyone is thrilled, and that seedy characters are looking to revive the long-defunct Team Rocket to cause mayhem and destruction in the real world.
Mechanics: I'll say right now this is a story based RP, not a D&D-esque rolling system to determine success. The writer controls their own fate within the guidelines below.
Pokemon Catching: I will allow a person's starting Pokemon to be any Pokemon from any region whatsoever as long as it is the first stage of an evolving Pokemon that is not a pseudo-legendary (no Dratinis or Larvitars. Almost want to say no Riolus either, since I know I'll get at least one.) The list of Pokemon available for capture will be limited to the first 251 Pokemon (Kanto/Johto), because I don't want to keep track of over 700 different buggers across multiple game routes.
Once the group enters a Route where there is the ability to capture Pokemon, I will post a list of the available Pokemon in the OOC section. Each trainer will be allowed to capture one Pokemon per route. Some Pokemon will be marked as Rare and if you want to capture one of these Pokemon you will have to give me a good reason as to why you desire to have this Pokemon (mostly to curb everyone getting Clefairys or Dratinis. I expect things to be as realistic as Pokemon can be). Catching will be done in a post that you write up and unless you really want to have your character to fail, you'll likely succeed in capturing it.
Pokemon Levelling: Levelling will occur at my discretion and usually it will be based on how active your Pokemon is in your own interactions. I usually give about one level per mention in a post, although I can tailor it at my own discretion if a Pokemon is at too low a level or getting to be too high a level for the surrounding area. The only use Charizard strategy was fine when you were 8, but let's be a little more diversified here. After certain checkpoints, usually after a Catching route or after a City's objectives are complete, I will post a level update, complete with the full roster and any move changes that may need to be made. Pokemon will have a maximum of 4 move slots available, but will be able to perform HM tasks without learning the specific HMs (because looking at a Pidgeot and saying 'That thing can't Fly' is silly).
Pokemon Battling: While the move set is limited to the game mechanics, battling is more like the anime. You can get creative with how the matches go similar to how Ash was able to keep hacking his way to victory in the gyms. Again, against NPCs, you control the action and pace of the battle. When in Gyms, there will be an OOC post listing the roster of available Pokemon for battle and you choose who you'd choose to face.
When it comes to battling against a fellow RPer, the outcome should be determined ahead of time and be somewhat realistic. No just claiming victory right off the back without their consent. Don't be a dick.
Example Character Sheet: I will be using a different character sheet since I found that trying to guide the action with a character that is designed to not want to control the action is very tough to do, but here is a sample of what myself and Raven will be looking for on the sheets if we get this to the submission stage.
Name: (Duh.)
Age: (Keep it between 10-21, please)
Gender: (I would like to have an even ratio for this if possible).
Hometown: (Can be anywhere, but everyone's starting in Pallet. Also it should be from the same region as your starter Pokemon.)
Appearance: (I would prefer to see actual descriptions here. Pictures are fine but it can be tough to find what one wants online, and I like seeing what people can come up with.)
Personality: (Tell us what kind of person you are, and I will say right off the bat that weird loners who talk about pointy things and killing things, probably won't be invited into the group.)
Profession: (Trainer? Breeder? Coordinator? You can do whatever you want, as long as it's already a defined role, or you tell me what you want to do.)
Talents: (Any kind of special talent you might have, but be reasonable. For example: Excellent cook = good. 15 year old assault rifle specialist = bad.)
Inventory: (Again, be reasonable here. Again for example: Pokeballs, Potions and a sleeping bag = good. $100000, a car and an nuke = bad.)
Starter Pokemon: (Everyone's getting one Pokemon at Lvl 5 to start. I don't care where it's from, but it's gotta be the first stage of an evolving Pokemon.)
Biography: (Give us a little backstory. What made you the person you are today? Anything interesting happen in your life? Read any good books? You know how it goes.)
Notes/Other: (Anything else you want to mention that's relevant that I forgot to mention before hand.)
Name: Jordan Kelly
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Hometown: Fuchsia City
Appearance: Jordan is a tall, tanned Caucasian, standing at 6'3, a fairly average looking young man. He's got shaggy, dirty blond hair and blue eyes, nothing remarkable about his clothes either. He wears a black and ocean blue Fuchsia Sharks baseball hat, a black t-shirt worn underneath a gray hooded zip-up sweatshirt, a pair of blue jeans and a beaten up pair of gray sneakers. He has a pair of ray-ban sunglasses he will wear when conditions are appropriate, and he wears a Sharpedo tooth hanging from some string around his neck because it "looked cool."
Personality: Jordan is what you would call a "beach bum". Laid back, not really caring a lot about anything, just out for a good time. More interested in surfing than training, he doesn't really try to push his Pokemon at all. He's got a good heart and will try to help, if it doesn't take much effort, but in the end, he'd still prefer just relaxing on the sand.
Profession: Trainer
Talents: He is an excellent surfer, he wants to get a Water Pokemon so he can learn how to surf on top of it, but he has yet to find one that is good enough.
Inventory: 5 Pokeballs, 3 Potions, Sleeping Bag, Frying Pan (perfect for Beach BBQs). He's traveling light, partially because it makes easier to travel, partially because he couldn't be bothered to bring anything else.
Starter Pokemon: Scyther, named Vince
Biography: Jordan was born and raised in Fuchsia City, the son of a Safari Zone ranger and a housemaker. His father's job kept him away from the house at all hours of the day and night, he had to be ever vigilant and on the watch for poachers. His mother resented him for staying away from the house so much, and raised Jordan to avoid Pokemon, saying they sucked the life out of people. This point was only further hammered home during his first swim in the ocean. He had gotten away from the beach a little bit and a Tentacool stung him hard. He was quickly pulled to safety, but he had sworn off Pokemon for good.
He remained steadfast in his beliefs, his mother was very happy, his father couldn't tell what had happened. It stayed that way until his parents when on a long overdue workation to the Sevii islands for a couple months and 13 year old Jordan was left to stay with his uncle, who lived on the Fuchsia Beach. His uncle was an avid surfer and Jordan came out with him every day, mostly because it was summer, and everything on TV sucked. His Uncle would go out there almost every day on his Blastoise, surfing the good waves that crashed on the Kanto shores. Jordan was still a bit frightened from his earlier experiences with the ocean, but when his uncle hoisted him aboard that Turtle Pokemon and he felt the spray of the water hitting his face, he knew he found something he could truly enjoy. He started going out with his uncle, but since he didn't have a Pokemon, he just used a surfboard. He was a fast learner and he would keep going out with his uncle every chance he could get after that. He had slight ambitions to get a Pokemon like his uncle, but it didn't really matter now. He was enjoying the thrills he got when surfing. When he wasn't out riding the waves, he was hanging out on the beach with other like-minded teens, but it wasn't going to last.
His parents grew weary of his laissez-faire attitude around the house. It had been two years since he graduated high school and he showed no ambition to do a thing with his life. He would stay out on the beach like he always did. There was a huge fight between his parents one night when Jordan was down at a beach bonfire. His father figured he had the perfect solution and his mother was so opposed to it she started throwing china around. When Jordan finally returned from his little party, his father was sitting there, waiting for him, surrounded by a sea of shattered porcelain. On the kitchen table was an egg. His father told him that since Jordan didn't seem to want to pick his path, his father would pick it for him. He was going to be flown out the next day by his father's Fearow, to Pallet, where he would be registered for the Pokemon League challenge. The egg contained his Pokemon. Jordan would have no say in the matter, and if he ever wanted to return home, he had better get cracking on the League path. It would be a rough ride. Jordan mustered what little protests he could, but it was no use. Jordan was taken to the tiny town in the West part of Kanto and stranded there. No money, no way home, just the clothes on his back, a few meager supplies and the egg his father had given him. Soon after he arrived, the egg hatched, revealing that his dad had at least given him a good start, a Scyther appearing before him. He was disappointed it wasn't a Water Pokemon, but the little guy was showing a fair amount of spirit. Jordan named him Vince and decided if he was going to have to fight his way back home, he better start now, so he could get back out on the waves he loved as quickly as possible.
Notes/Other: His uncle is the famed Surfing Guru of Fuchsia Beach.
All right, I think that's everything for now. Any questions or comments, leave them down below and I'll do my best to get back to you as long as I'm not pass-out tired or drunk.
Well judging from this past hour, I may move this into the forum now, since it looks like we'll have enough people already. All sheets and the like can be posted in there. I look forward to seeing who wants to come to this twisted version of Kanto.
@Ganryu
You can be all kinds of stabby in real life if that's your perrogative, but I'd prefer if the character didn't try to shiv other PCs or NPCs at the drop of a hat. Doesn't make for good morale. Trust me.
Most Pokemon is correct. I know a couple of potential starters already from the previous cast, and they include Zorua (not really pseudo since she's pretty weak) and Joltik, so yeah, feel free to roam.
All right, first time starting up my own RP on this site, but not my first time GMing so I feel confident in putting this up. I'll try to make this as formal as possible, but I'm not exactly the most formal of people so we'll see how this goes.

Frequency Online: At least once a day, for indeterminate amounts of time. Depends on how much I don't want to get out of bed.
Responsibilities Offline:
I work night shift four nights a week and I'm working on applying to law school until the end of the month, so very busy immediately but after that, hopefully I'll be rested enough to do some serious writing.
Favorite tv show or books:
TV Shows: Archer, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Game of Thrones Books: Catch-22, Work! Consume! Die! (by Frankie Boyle), Gulliver's Travels
Why do you like to write/RP:
I've enjoyed writing for a long period of time and I love being able to contribute to a story that feels like it's something far bigger than anything I could come up with on my own. Plus it's a way to escape from a world that I have not really lived up to expectations in.
Fashioned as something resembling a pistol with a base speaker on top of it, this heavy pistol is designed to fire a concentrated and consistent pulse of sound at a target up to 100 feet away. The pulse overloads the audio sensory connection of someone's MChip, turning whatever they might here into a cacophony of painful noise that renders people unable to function properly (one victim could swear they heard the word "Friday" over and over again). These pulses can permeate most headphones but they are a bit clunky, which leaves Atomik unable to do much in close combat. They also can't rapid fire large pulses, so if someone is able to move and gets around an initial mega blast, that leaves Atomik vulnerable as well.
There are different settings on the guns allowing for Atomik to customize how much and what kind of damage the guns do. Odd numbers are used for solo targets while even numbers are used for multiple targets. 1-4 solely focus on audio warfare with 1-2 being used for letting the sweet soothing sounds massage and heal a teammate or herself and 3-4 are not so kind inflicting damage upon miscreant's ears and brains. 5-6 fire a steady pulse that will flow against a target much like a stream or river. 7 deals a large concussive blast to try and take a target out of commission and end a fight, although it's at this point where Atomik starts to lose total control of the cannon. The dial on the cannon is able to be cranked up to 11, but so far Atomik hasn't had the need to go beyond 7. She's a little worried about what might happen in the higher numbers.
Cell Phone:
Personality:
+Intelligent: Given the amount of time Maya has spent in the DgtWld prior to being a connector, he is very well versed in how it works and any exploits that might be available.
-Unmotivated: As such, Maya is adverse to doing any kind of work, so he prefers to do as little as possible. If anyone is going to do a job, Maya is more than happy to let them do it for him.
+Defender: Given the way he has been treated in his life, watching or hearing someone being ostracized for no good reasons is a sore spot for Maya and will inspire him to act. If anyone is being ignored or bullied, Maya will step in immediately on their behalf to fight for them.
-Naive: Given his lack of social interactions in the real world, sarcasm is something of a foreign concept to Maya. So is deceit. If something sounds plausible, Maya will believe it, and combining that with his need to defended the "downtrodden" can get him in a lot of trouble.
+Upbeat: In contrast to his real life mannerisms, Maya actually feels so at home in DgtWld that he sheds the introverted shell that he has cultivated offline and becomes completely relaxed and optimistic, more in tune with his current avatar.
+Loyal: Once he gets to know someone, Maya will back them wholeheartedly into whatever situation they may face, as long as it doesn't interfere with his previous tenets of not picking on the "weak gazelle" so to speak, or if he can find someone to do the actual work aspect of whatever needs to be done to follow.
Time With Tokyo Sector: Joined as a trainee Corrector in 2018, been in Tokyo since the start of his career.
Background: Maya is the only son of an Iranian immigrant father and a Japanese mother. He was born and raised in Niigata, while both his parents worked for a telecommunications company. His father was an electrician who moved post-Revolution and worked his way up the ladder of the union while maintaining a strict paternal structure in the home that when combined with his mother's cold passive attitude meant a very tough and rigid childhood for Maya. School wasn't much better. Lacking the immigrant populations of Tokyo and Nagoya, Maya's half-Iranian heritage made him stand out among his peers and he was a ripe target for bullying.
This constant belittlement in all aspects of life made Maya very timid and quick to withdraw in the growing online world at a young age. He refused to take out his frustrations on other people though, even when putting bullets into brains when playing popular online games. Instead he let himself get lost in whatever he was doing online at the time, music and visuals carrying him away from Mehdi's fiery anger over his slightly imperfect grades, and Ayame's indignant stare at his few successes. Even in school, when Ono Kenji slammed him against the fence every day for a month straight after accidentally scuffing his shoe, that anger and hatred washed away while Maya was lost in the online world.
When the DgtWld system was first gaining steam in Japan and the U.S., Maya was quick to hop onto the phenomenon. He saved for a few months to get one of the first MChips implanted and took to the virtual reality like a monkey to a hot spring. At first it was just a few secluded trips to his own private island to get away from it all and listen to music, but he started spending more and more time in the DgtWld. He was so enthralled by the potential this technology had, of being able to leave the physical plane behind and transport yourself anywhere you wanted your music to take you that he dedicated his studies towards making sure he could be able to contribute to such a beautiful achievement of modern science. This newfound dedication seemed to please his parents as well, so they let Maya continue on this course. Of course they didn't know Maya would do so well that he would be drafted to the Correctors squad. Not even Maya believed it at first, but once he got confirmation, he was thrilled to be able to have a more in depth role in protecting the world...as long as it didn't interfere with his time in virtual Antigua.
Given the lack of a base in his hometown, Maya was assigned to the Tokyo unit, able to leave Niigata for the first time. However upon arrival, he was subjected to the same kind of harassment he thought he had escaped a while ago, and the first avatar he was presented with prior to gaining the access to creating his own was that of a teenage girl. It was a big laugh among the senior connectors but on his first few trips into the DgtWld in this avatar, Maya wasn't getting stared at. He wasn't getting called a terrorist. He felt...normal. And it felt good. It felt liberating. So liberating that he kept the avatar even after getting clearance to change, only tweaking certain aspects to better fit the weaponry that he decided to outfit Atomik with when she first came into being. Besides, if no one was supposed to know about his role, it made sense to Maya for his avatar to be as far opposite from his true identity as possible. Despite the personal growth that has come with his time as a Corrector, Maya is still seen as a social outcast in the real world. He is known to his neighbors in the small Aoyama District flat for being a shut-off student training for his certification as a network administrator and technician, when in reality, he's just waiting for the next opportunity to get back into the DgtWld and make what he sees to be a bigger impact.
