As he neared the village, the stream flow seemed to be ironically gentler and narrower - a complete opposite of geological common sense. By the time he reached the village, it was no more than a modest brook.

He was chased away by angry denizens of the houses, and when he reached the fourth house (with two men NPC glaring at him, and one woman ready to batter him with her rolling pin), MisterListerTheSisterFister is met with a stupefied man who was just getting out from under the house.

"Well, hello. I was just about to ask a favour from someone, or at least get backup. Could you go and get me one lock of nekh hair? You can usually find them outside the village, down the river. I would go and hunt them myself but I'm not good with fighting and they're dangerous! ... Anyway, if you do, I'll give you food and money in return."

Idk, dislike button to me opens up a can of worms, like gang-bullying. It also cuts them off their own cliques which is kinda oppressive. I mean, yeah, I'm allergic to teendom, but I never want to ostracize any folk. Loneliness breeds a darn load of emotional issues.

Either or. Is it a problem to let you guys know extra info in case anyone wonders? Last time I had things turn up, someone ribbed me.

Anyway, jsyk, my parents are forgetful, so sometimes in between walks for eight cats, I get a call to pick up things, which takes longer. Don't think I forget.

Admittedly, I like to drop by RPG to post on things that don't need my sitting for over half an hour cranking out words. And anyway I'm running verbally now so I'll cut it short.

I appreciate you checking back in to tell me that you're still up for this, but while I am grateful for the interest, I cannot afford to wait for you much longer as it is tiding the others back unfairly.

I know life happens, and I'm not blaming you or giving the sick eye, or bemoaning. Instead, I want you to know that you will have to PM me when you get on and we'll work out a credible reason for your character to come in later than the rest of the cast.

Role-Play Advice

The Right Amount of Detail: How long is a piece of string? The right amount of detail is the right amount of detail that is needed. As above, if it's not relevant, don't be talking about it. Otherwise, it's fluff. If there's something to be got from detail, like how your character feels about how imposing a ship might be, or you want to describe something which will then come up in the near or distant future, go into as much detail as that needs. The least important thing to put detail into is your character's appearance and especially what they're wearing.

Please, heed Jig and be a part of the revolutionary group who don't interpret "more is better, always". I've roleplayed with a lot of people in my life - and take me as an example. I'm not a bad RPer, but I am not good either because I flak. My main reason? Life, but also, those I explicitly drop tend to run on details too much. Once, I roleplayed with someone who used 1000 words (10 paragraphs) to describe the apparel of one character.

Daunting, but moreso ... superfluous.

From what it feels like, the Statuses are meant to be a bit like a twitter feed, a place to just mention something silly and fun, or promote a Roleplay. What could be added is a system, similar to Facebook's feeds, where you can select your favourite users and their feeds will come up before others. Its not blocking, but it'll help promote your friend's statuses and if you don't like seeing the negative comments, just deselect them so their status messages go back into the normal rotation.

That way the side bar can be used for your friends, and clicking on a link will expand that out to the forum's listings.

Yeah! I was upset that my suggestion will make me lose out on potentially interesting roleplay ads! Guess I'll go back to my first plan: option to block someone's status appearing on my feed, please. Nay, don't wanna see at all those cynical, perverted statuses. I'm no uptight, petticoat-wearing prude, but as someone I know once said,

"Keep your degeneracy to yourself."

A feature to see Friend's Only statuses, please.

Recently I noticed a lot of statuses that are, uh, let's just say mood-dampening, and it's ruining my chill time every time I get to the homepage.

Blocking someone's status messages was my first thought but it seems a bit harsh. I'm just here to roleplay, not blacklist people because their attention-mongering tendencies remind me of midteen days.

I wouldn't mind looking at statuses that are negative if they're my friends or acquaintances who feel down - I know them so I care.

But randoms who seem to have conversations on the sidebar back and forth, back and forth, when there's Chat, PM, Spam, Off Roleplay, and VM are ... annoying? Not chronic, but still awry to see when I wake up. Especially when the status is meant to rib someone or shame a particular group with differing opinion. There's Facebook for that, folks!
