Well now that I got the customary "post once" requirement out of the way....

HELLO

Welcome to my safe space. Well, about as safe as one space can be, I guess. If you are here looking for something, I am very sorry to disappoint you, but I made fresh cookies! Come sit a spell.

I guess I'll do some more in-depth stuff about myself. My name is Nick and I am 35 years old living in Illinois. I am a therapist and clinical responder (which is a fancy way of saying I go out on police calls to provide mental health assistance). Been doing therapy for a few years now and I absolutely love it!

I am a gay, cisgender man. I came out in January 2020 (smack dab in the middle of a pandemic. Timing was always my downfall). There is still much I am learning, but I am proud and happy to be who I really am and not have to hide it anymore!

I am an avid gamer, especially roleplaying games (cue surprised and shock noises). I also enjoy writing and reading, especially mysteries. I am not new to roleplay, I promise. I have been doing it for years now in different formats. I am experienced, even if it doesn't seem like it.

I use humor as a coping mechanism for sure, but I also like laughing and enjoying myself. Life can be pretty sad and upsetting for the most part and I don't want to add to it.

Whew! That got deep!

I will be poking my nose around in spaces and hoping to jump headfirst into this. Some interests I have in terms of roleplay settings include superheroes, DnD, science fiction/fantasy, mysteries, thrillers, horror stuffs, apocolypse, and espionage. And I am a fan of most things pop culture. If you have any suggestions or possible roleplays you think I would love, please let me know.

Otherwise, stick around! This is gonna get wild!

Sabine was sure it wouldn't be the last time she had a run-in with Jyoti. In her experience (and notably how she acted before paving the road to such interactions), people like her tended to seek drama out. It made for good social media, unfortunately. And according to Leah, one of her friends had nearly killed Vicky. She didn't like them before, but now she detested them.

But it wouldn't serve her to go after her any further. She was trying to be better, and as Excelsior's social media manager, she needed to keep her reputation on the upswing. Being with Leah made that easy. She could get some good coverage showing their "fight" from before is old news. One good thing about social media is that people's attention tends to be pretty easy to shift, especially if it was cute, wholesome, and gay.

"Not gonna let her ruin the moment. Let's get skating!" She grabbed Leah's hand and drew her in, preparing to skate around. The moment with Jyoti soon became a distant memory.

Millicent was in full support of this sports team being brought in. If there was no interest in sports, it was because people were growing bored. But a superpowered hockey team would surely generate interest. On top of that she supported women's rights and wrongs. Sports were still seen as male-dominant, and she would be damned if that trend continued.

"I'll get the word out. I don't know anyone here apart from the few I met, but I bet I can generate some buzz around the team and get some support."

As Natmokara left they were interrupted with a new voice. Millicent turned to see Victoria who had introduced herself to her new roommate. "Hey Victoria. I think I saw you briefly at the afterparty, but we never got introduced. I'm Millicent. Nice for you two to be roomies. I'm with Ben and, given the interaction we just had, I don't know how well that is going to go."
@themaybreeze Slowly but surely, I am getting into a writing mood. I can get something up this weekend while I am at work.
@Terrans Added. Hope that works.
@Terrans Want me to add that to the sheet or just state why?

As she ate, her thoughts spiraled in different directions. There were other myseries forming here apart from Renee and Miguel's deaths. Her mind was still stuck on why they were called here and who knew their secrets. The main reason she wanted to speak to Eleanor was because she had wanted to see which of the other family members had a hand in picking who came. Eleanor may have had final decision, but if one of the choices was agreed upon, it led to that person knowing something about their nominee.

She looked over to Brendan, wondering his thoughts on this assortment. "Penny for your thoughts?" she asked, glancing over to the others in the room. A way of showing they should keep it calm and light, not speaking of anything they didn't want listening ears to hear. "Bit of a downer, with Renee gone. And it seems our benefactors would prefer to continue on despite it. I get there's money on the line, but someone is dead." She said it loud enough for people to hear, but her eyes spoke differently. "Let's see if anyone takes the bait."
Hope you are still accepting

Ice skating was something that helped her decompress. Just her and the ice, no need for spectables or performance, she could just glide around without a care. And to have Leah here to keep her company, it made the moment all the better. The fact Leah took to ice skating as much as she did was impressive.

Sabine wanted nothing more than to glide alongside her girlfriend and forget about what just happened, but she knew she couldn’t just put it all on the back-burner. She would need to keep tabs on the social media account as well as deal with possible damage control from her “fight” with Leah, though Sabine already had ideas on what to do to make sure that was fine.

Which is why it took her a minute to hear chuckling and a voice call out, like a knife slicing through paper. Jyoti. Someone she had run-ins with in the past and someone she, quite frankly, didn’t want to deal with. Jyoti was past Sabine and it hurt to see what Sabine would have become had she continued along the path she was forced onto.

Leah had already attempted to put Jyoti in her place, and it was a fine effort, but Sabine knew it needed more. It needed sting, it needed buzz. It needed Sabine to bring her A-game.

She walked over, patting Leah gently on the back. ”I got this, babe.”

Sabine whipped her phone out and, in a flash, was set up with a livestream. She had the camera pointed at herself, ready to roll out.

”Hey fam! It’s Sabine coming at a random time, I know, but when the call is made you have to answer it. Today I wanted to discuss something close to me, something I have experience with, and something that needs to be addressed, especially with people our age. I am, of course, talking about bullying.”

“It is more common than you think and I don’t think it’s talked about enough. This is going to be hard to hear, but I was a bully. There’s no excuse for it. I was going through a hard time and I lashed out at others. I put people down. I spread rumors. And I won’t lie, it felt good in the moment. But that feeling was fleeting and it didn’t help me any more later. Ever since I joined the Excelsior team here and got to know everyone better and work together, I have felt more like myself and more accepted and loved. And as I put in the work, therapy is great by the way, I have relied less on making sure other people feel worse than me.”

Sabine then moved closer, pushing Jyoti’s followers away a bit with her presence, if not her body, and leaned in closer to her. ”And the main reason I bring this up is that people seem to have not grasped that lesson. That bullies are just people who are going through it or are so sad with how their lives are that they feel the need to bring people down to life themselves up. Isn’t that right, Jyoti?” She asked the question, but resumed without giving her a chance to respond. ”This is my friend Jyoti who seems to be struggling as she just tried to make me and my girlfriend feel bad. Now, I don’t know about you all, but I think that’s a real shame. Let me hear some from the audience. How do we feel about this attempt at bullying?”

DazzlersBeard: omg an anti bullying QUEEN we STAN

"Thanks fam! Your kind words mean the world to me. I only hope Jyoti here can find it in her heart to overcome this lapse in judgement and be the good we all know she can be! Until next time, love you!"

Sabine stood up and pushed her way back to Leah, turning to face Jyoti. "Let it be known I showed you a kindness today. Continue on with this and I will do so much worse to your reputation. Now, my girlfriend and I are going to continue skating. I suggest you find something else to gossip about."

Marlena had a home to return to, also. And much like Marlena, things would be different. She had her aunts and uncles, but her father was another story. And her mother, well, best not turn over that particular stone.

Before she could speak up, a new voice raised itself into the conversation. Millicent looked around and didn't see anyone immediately until she looked down. A girl holding out a clipboard towards them and going on about being misunderstood and something about hockey?

Well, who was Millie to deny someone their interests?

"A hockey team, huh? Sounds awesome. Women in STEM! The S is for sports, right? Either way, totally support having a women's hockey team. A bit miffed there isn't one already. I can't play worth a damn, which goes against my Canadian heritage, but I fully support it." Millicent grabbed the clipboard and added her signature.
I am still here. I have just been in a pretty severe depressive spiral that I am coming back from. I will see about posting this weekend.

Jake decided he was done being calm.

It’d been fun!! He hadn’t really known what was happening or where he’d went, but he was hanging out with his best friend Cassie, so it couldn’t be too bad!! He hurried back up to his feet, bouncing from side to side as the energy rush returned to him. “That was so cool!!!! It’s like I didn’t have a brain!!! I was so empty!!!! But now I wanna do magic!!!! Let’s do magic!!!! What can you do? I wanna seee!!!!! oooo what if we did something together and came up with a cool thing to shout out as we did it??? Like a combo!!!!”

Cassie opened one eye, seeing Jake get up and get bored. She shouldn’t have been surprised, but his energy was infectious. Surely if their advisor paired the two of them together, their magic would be complementary.

”We have to be careful though. I don’t know much about wild magic, but I imagine it can get out of control. Same with my own. But, we can try. But maybe somewhere that isn’t the advisor’s office? Just in case.”

Jake thought for a moment about where they could do magic. He’d spent a lot of time exploring the school during the night, and he scrunched up his face, thinking on where might be a good location. Some of the hallways were pretty big. And there was a nice courtyard outside! Maybe that would be good! He didn’t like going outside as much as he liked wandering the halls of the school, though. “We could go outside! Lots of room there! Near the greenhouse where Nicky showed me how to help plants!! It was so cool and he gave me a present!!”

Cassie bristled at the mention of her coven-mate. She still was unsure about him. He felt…off. Like he always had something going on underneath. But she didn’t want to burst Jake’s bubble of happiness. ”Outside is great! Lots of room with, hopefully, minimum chance of property destruction. Lead the way!” Cassie also did not want a repeat of her home breakout. She had a feeling if she caused as much havoc here she would be thrown out. This was her chance to learn and grow.

“Can I take your hand? It’ll be faster! We can run! Go so fast!” he beamed.

Cassie offered her hand in return. ”I’m not the fastest runner, but okay.”

Jake took Cassie’s hand, and immediately took off at a run. He loved running! He spent some of his time exploring just seeing how fast he could go, running back and forth down the empty halls as everyone else slept. He’d started to get an idea for how everything connected in the school - not so much that he didn’t need directions, but enough that certain corridors and turns looked familiar, and he was able to retrace his steps to make it outside to the courtyard. “See, the greenhouse! I learned how to clean pots!!” he gestured, pointing at the gleaming glass building he’d been in just a few hours prior.

But instead of entering the building, he came to a stop in the stone courtyard, staring out across the rolling, expansive grounds. There weren’t any other students around, not that he could see at least, but he could hear the faint buzzing of life and activity in his ear. People were around somewhere, he just wasn’t quite sure where. “Should I go first? Do you wanna go first?” he asked, releasing Cassie’s hand. The area was pretty clear for them to practice in, stone benches on the edges, but for the most part this was a liminal space, one designed to be passed through rather than dwelled in.

Cassie caught up as best she could, but Jake was quite quick. Her heart pounded a little bit when he held her hand (calm down Cassie!), but it was relieved when she saw the greenhouse and the courtyard. The school was breathtaking in its architecture and design. It also provided a space for them to practice without hurting others or damaging property. Hopefully…

”Why don’t you go first? Remember what our advisor said also. Center yourself and use your mantra.” Cassie was interested to see Jake’s magic in action. As she observed, she thought about what she could do within this space.

Jake stuck his tongue out slightly, scrunching his face together in concentration. Center and use his mantra. He was one with the Force. He could do this! He didn’t know what he was about to do, but he could do it! He stopped bouncing from side to side, and took a deep breath. He winded his arm up like he was throwing a baseball, and as he let go, a sparkling orb of pink-purple energy flew out, soaring across the courtyard and colliding into a bench… and leaving behind not a single trace. No damage was dealt.

“Woah!!! I made sparkles!!!”

Cassie observed the magical energy as it unleashed from Jake’s hand. It seemed he had managed to control it and didn’t cause any permanent damage. ”Way to go Jake! That was so cool! And I love the color.”

She then wondered about her own powers. There were destructive qualities to it. Chaos wasn’t something that could be controlled easily. But she needed to prove herself.

“Yeah!!! Now your turn!!!! I wanna see what you can do!!!” he preened. He hadn’t even considered that he had controlled it and not broken anything. He was mostly just enamored with the idea that he had done magic at all, even if it had just been producing a fun color.

Cassie nodded and took a power stance (or what she assumed was one). She closed her eyes, feeling the swell of magic in her. She cleared her mind. She was one with the force and the force was with her. When she opened her eyes they glowed a warm, reddish-pink color before she lifted her hand towards a nearby tree.

What came forth was, in no uncertain terms, a small screaming goat projectile that smacked into the tree. The resulting blast was acidic, a chunk of the tree’s bark deteriorating before her.

Her eyes returned to normal. ”Well, can’t say that’s typical, but I did it!”
