Bio

Well now that I got the customary "post once" requirement out of the way....

HELLO

Welcome to my safe space. Well, about as safe as one space can be, I guess. If you are here looking for something, I am very sorry to disappoint you, but I made fresh cookies! Come sit a spell.

I guess I'll do some more in-depth stuff about myself. My name is Nick and I am 35 years old living in Illinois. I am a therapist and clinical responder (which is a fancy way of saying I go out on police calls to provide mental health assistance). Been doing therapy for a few years now and I absolutely love it!

I am a gay, cisgender man. I came out in January 2020 (smack dab in the middle of a pandemic. Timing was always my downfall). There is still much I am learning, but I am proud and happy to be who I really am and not have to hide it anymore!

I am an avid gamer, especially roleplaying games (cue surprised and shock noises). I also enjoy writing and reading, especially mysteries. I am not new to roleplay, I promise. I have been doing it for years now in different formats. I am experienced, even if it doesn't seem like it.

I use humor as a coping mechanism for sure, but I also like laughing and enjoying myself. Life can be pretty sad and upsetting for the most part and I don't want to add to it.

Whew! That got deep!

I will be poking my nose around in spaces and hoping to jump headfirst into this. Some interests I have in terms of roleplay settings include superheroes, DnD, science fiction/fantasy, mysteries, thrillers, horror stuffs, apocolypse, and espionage. And I am a fan of most things pop culture. If you have any suggestions or possible roleplays you think I would love, please let me know.

Otherwise, stick around! This is gonna get wild!

@Terrans Do you have names for them or how many?
@Terrans I can post tomorrow. Nothing amazing.

I do have a question though: How much freedom do we have when adding stuff to the world? Like am I able to come up with the information found on the journalists? Or do you have something in mind?
@Dyelli Beybi I am fine with the random muttering of upcoming events. That's more in line with what I had in mind.
I was thinking of a character who is essentially an Oracle or someone who can see the future. I am happy to talk limits and all that and if that's too much I can just have a telekinetic character. I am happy to put systems in place to ensure they aren't a "power creep"
Question before I work on my app: How do we feel about psionics or the use of nanobytes for combat or stealth purposes? Apologies if this was answered.

Milicent waved Elizabeth off. It wasn't like she wanted to be here still. The money wasn't worth it anymore. So to have the family that brought them here, intentionally or not, continue to complain drove her nearly insane. "Maybe whine about it more. That solves everything," she said to the disappearing Elizabeth.

Millicent still kept her attention on Richard. The man was clearly hiding something, but it was hard to tell if it was sadness, anger, fear, or a combination of the three. And to have him tell it, he knew of Renee's history. "What do you mean this isn't her first tragedy?" Millicent knew they had dossiers on the nominees; it only made sense. But how in-depth did they go? It stood to reason that it may very well have led to whoever left them the notes having access to this information also.

She so badly wanted to call him out on it, but she figured she could get some information first.
Okay so I had a post, I put it up there, internet at work broke. Fixed it, post was gone. Not saved, gone. So instead of breaking my work computer I took a break. I promise to have something up this week

Cassie smiled warmly at Jake's antics. Mainly because he was so adorable, like a little puppy, you couldn't help but like him and want to scratch his belly. And for the smaller reason that he was likely annoying Nick, which was a small benefit. "It looks so good on you! And no, mani-pedis are getting your fingernails and toenails done. They massage your hands and feet and scrape all the debris away and you can even have color on them!" Cassie chose to ignore the comment about blood, especially as there was a conversation happening about a beheaded body.

Cal appeared and Cassie fought the urge to blush, she was still sort of mad at him despite her and Willow talking things through. Even if he complimented her skill, there was still an undercurrent happening. One that involved the twins most likely. How the hell could Cal like them when they were so irritating? She knew college would be filled with all sorts, and a part of her knew she should try to make it work with them, but she couldn't help but feel like they were plotting every time they were in the same room.

Willow sat next to her and Cassie greeted her with a warm hug, happy the two of them sorted things out. "Willow! Cal said the books we found would be helpful so we have a shot. And Jake and Cal are in for mani-pedis! It's gonna be a fun night!"

The enjoyment was short-lived as the other twin, Barty, strode in acting like he would rather be anywhere else. Last time Cassie checked, no one forced him to come here. To make matters worse, as Barty approached he took hold of her cup and took a drink. Cassie's mouth opened in mild horror and she looked around the table to see if anyone else saw and would say something. Especially Cal.

Cassie was fuming. But her cup returned. She took hold of it and looked in as if the contents were poison. She took it back to her lips and whispered again. This time the contents changed into a light blue liquid. She swirled it around before taking a sip. She swished it around in her mouth briefly before she spit it back into the cup. "Mouthwash. After all, something nasty was just added to my drink. Can't have that." She whispered again and the contents returned to her pink lemonade, which she drank with relish.

But the conversation moved back to the headless body. Cassie's appetite was slowly waning (though she still wanted dessert). Cassie looked over to the girls speaking, particularly Serena. It was strange but Cassie felt like the hair on the back of her neck was standing at attention. The girl was struggling to remember, but Cassie felt like it wasn't just your average forgetful moment. There was more there, like the girl was looking through the library in her brain for the right books, but they had been moved elsewhere. Was it magical? Perhaps, but it was weird nonetheless.

"There's something weird going on with her memory I think. Something unnatural. Call it a hunch," she whispered to Cal.
