Discipline a heretic and he'll be loyal for a moment, put him to the flame and he'll be loyal the rest of his life.

Sweet, that's 3 down.
I hope it takes off, been wanting this one for a while.
I don't mind waiting a little longer to get more slots filled. Whatever is best for the RP. If you wanted to stage the characters we already have in San Jose or something like that, maybe explaining how they got there a little bit it could be fun. Just something to keep the creative tide flowing.

My .02
How will the characters be getting on to the island? Forgive me if my memory is a little fuzzy. I seem to recall the cast flying in on JP3 and a crash shortly after. Might be fun to start with the team meeting in Costa Rica and then taking a chopper/light AC over to the island.

This is my roundabout way of saying I'm anxious to get started.
I posted my character on the character page. Keep in mind, I am NOT a hacker or IT person IRL so I'm going on a little internet research as far as her equipment goes.

I'm open to suggestions from those that may be more knowledgeable. This slot felt like the most fun (to me) of the group so I went for it. Though I doubt we'll get bogged down in the exact technical workings of computer systems for the park, I thought it would be easier (again, for me) to write in a believable way than any of the other jobs.
Name: Meryl Dejarnette

Age: 27

Gender: Female

Height: 5’6”

Weight: 132 lbs

Appearance: Meryl has an average and balanced figure, not exotic or voluptuous in any way and family members often chastise her for not eating enough. Hair is a soft, dark brown that parts in the center arcing around her eyes to frame her face just a few inches past shoulder length. Face is smooth and symmetrical with only the slightest hint of deviance when she smirks or makes an off-color remark while eyes are heterochromic with right being dark brown and the left being green. She enjoys the outdoors and her skin is a gentle tan while her clothing choice is not exactly fashionable with dark or camouflage patterned capri pants and tank tops with sneakers. She does wear lightly-tinted glasses from time to time while working and rarely any jewelry of any kind.

Role: Computer Expert

Equipment: Meryl has only been allowed to choose from the inventory of Masrani Corp. and not allowed to bring any of her personal equipment. Even so, the offerings presented to her were very Spartan: Pentest equipment with battery pack, RF Hacker, Ubertooth, Proxmark Device, Wifi Pineapple, Alfa Network Boards, a USB rubber ducky, military grade durable laptop, tablet and GPS tracker. She will, however, be sneaking in her own set of lock picks.

Background: When the final list of candidates for tech slot came through for review at the Masrani board meeting only one submission was returned to the recruiters stating, not just ‘No’, but ‘Hell No’. However, what was quickly pointed out in the recruitment staff’s rebuttal was that this slot could potentially cost the company virtually nothing if the right selection was made and the right leverage applied, thusly leaving the company more capital to buy much higher for the other team positions. For a company in the throes of bankruptcy and with one last investment to make, it was considered a master stroke and after a few calls by their Washington lobbyist, Meryl Dejarnette was released from custody from the US Marshall Service.

For several years, Dejarnette had honed her corporate espionage craft starting from her first job as a receptionist at a small-town power company to becoming competent enough to sell her skills to top bidders in larger and larger markets. Known by several handles, her most famous exploits came under the names of Shade, Shadetree, and Shadwick. It was under these aliases that she had been hired to infiltrate Masrani. Her client was interested in drawing from the Costa Rican money exchange from international tourism entering the park as well as being a broker of other information related to company’s various investments and infrastructure.

Meryl’s efforts went largely unnoticed for some time and when she was discovered the link was still not directly traceable. With some help from their American political connections, anxious to be on the forefront of cyber “security”, charges were conjured up through the IRS and Meryl was arrested by the Marshall Service and detained in what amounted to a minor media side note as the park continued on in operation. Under the shadow of paid bureaucracy Meryl was being detained indefinitely as a corporate prisoner when the evacuation of Isla Nublar took place.

In exchange for taking the tech position on the team (and subsequent completion of the mission) Masrani has agreed to see to it that all charges brought against Meryl be withdrawn and her record be stricken of all previous counts, flags and connections with corporate and industrial espionage.
Pretty much got it together for the tech. Thankfully short app. Just need to proofread. Where should we post completed?
Sounds good to me. I think I'll do something different and write up your computer tech character.
This looks fun, but admittedly I don't have a lot of knowledge about hunting or guns or dinosaurs, lol. I've only seen the movies.

I would like to join, but don't feel qualified.
Snowflakes were falling daintily and as the last of the cargo was unloaded. Cole conceded that for the moment he no longer had any desire to apply for a posting in Antarctica. No, there was a cargo route he’d flown in a DC-3 from the horn of Australia over the Torres Strait to Port Moresby that he was going back to as soon as this walk was out of the way. At fault or not, an airman who crashed in China was effectively finished. We’re sorry sir, no hard feelings, etc… He’d seen it before with some damn fine airmen. The Chinese were extreme perfectionists and never cared to be in the position of having to explain anything to a potential customer. He felt sorry for Xi especially. He looked east across the tundra and snorted, becoming annoyed. The pay in northern Oz had never been great, but the route was a milk-run and he thoroughly enjoyed showing up to work in shorts and Pom Town was a quite a howl if one knew where to look. Maybe he might even bring Xi along if he wanted to come. It wasn’t their fault someone had tried to blow them up.

No one had yet noticed the satellite phone still clipped to his side and when he realized the plane had indeed survived a bomb blast he quickly switched it off and gave the battery to Xi. The young Chinaman said nothing and only nodded knowingly. Whoever had done this had wanted no survivors. It was only luck that they’d managed to bring the plane down in a recognizable fashion. He reckoned the tired ground crew in Gunsa, who would have been near the end of their shift and in no mood to unload a diverted wide-body jetliner, had unknowingly loaded the device. Again, by sheer luck, the explosive was directional and blasted the cargo doors off along with a good section of the port passenger seating and made a mess of the tail. No, whoever had hatched the plot had planned for the explosion to move forward through the passenger cabin and ignite the center fuel tanks and kill everyone in one great fireball at nine-thousand feet. Shit happens. Even when the business is murder he thought grimly and almost laughed.

Cole checked his watch and looked around. He knew his survivors were likely carrying cell phones and other GPS-sensitive devices. Not that they would have a signal, but those items could still be tracked by unscrupulous characters. They all needed to be turned off, immediately. They were going to have questions as well. Namely, why had Xi and himself had changed into clothing belonging to some of the deceased passengers? They had also placed two of the bodies in the cockpit with their old uniforms. It wasn’t the most reverent activity in which he’d participant and he made sure no one noticed them. Those and other queries would get answered along the way. For now, they needed to get a move on, however he knew the rest of this rabble would expect some sort of explanation. He wasn’t the most eloquent and neither were the words as they came out. “If you haven’t noticed by now, some buggers tried to blow us all to hell…and damn near succeeded.” The words were like a dump-truck unloading a ton of stone at the quarry. Oh well, you’re in it now dumbass, don’t make a total cock-up of it. He thought as the rest of the words came. “Fortunately, there’s an abandoned observatory about twenty miles to our east. That’s going to be our first stop.”

He rested the golf driver on his shoulder that he’d been holding as he started to feel more confident in his words. “I know all of you have got a lot of questions and that’s fine, we’ll answer them, but for now just let my first officer and I help you get the essentials together so we can get away from this aircraft.” His tone was suddenly cutting enough that he surprised himself a little. “Whoever brought this plane down is going to come looking to make sure the job was done. We don’t want to be here when they arrive.”
