I'll finish the last two CS tonight, btw.
Manny raised an eyebrow at the sudden kiss Ellie gave Madeline. His hands in his pockets and his head tilted to the side, he couldn't sense magic as well as the others, but he knew it from other signs. Still, had to say something.

"Didn't think she was paying us that much."

Once they made it to the van, Manny gave a wink to Morgan, tossing her the keys. "Know a guy from another job that moved to the city awhile back, called in a quick favor." He said to everyone present. Opening the door to his van, he hopped in the front seat as he continued to speak. "Kennedy, take the front seat with me." He called. "Ellie, I'll need you in the back ready to shoot if we need it. Fuckin' Morgan doesn't know who she's talking to."

His last words were given in a chuckle. Truth be told, back in his home town he'd been known as somewhat of a daredevil. Riding around town with his friends, his ass sometimes sitting on the windowsill of his cardoor going 70 in a 30. Not that he'd done it for kicks in awhile, but it came in handy when dealing with certain paranormal creatures, or non-understanding authorities. Hand eye coordination was a life saver. The tall detective revved the car up when the two ladies were inside, and with a screech of rubber on concrete, he was backed out and on Morgan's trail.

Grinning, he sped the car faster once he saw the toughs that were pursuing them scramble out of the way. "Might want to hold on," he said curtly to the two women as he hit the same speed bump Morgan did, the car sailing a foot off the ground for a split second before tires hit the pavement once more. Luckily, Manny wasn't too engrossed in his driving or in the excitement. He heard Morgan warn him of the threat just as he saw it himself in the mirror.

"Got it." He replied, and even as the words left his lips, he spun the wheel and slammed on the brakes, sending the van spinning outwards to clip the other vehicle. The man on the running board was shoved off by the momentum, and he hit one of the concrete pillars that held up the next floor of the parking deck. Manny could have sworn he saw a red stain at the pillar before his vision shifted along with his vehicle.

During the spin of the Van, he found out that he wasn't the only one who hadn't had the time for a seat belt when Kennedy was sent bouncing into his lap. His collarbone suddenly covered in soft hair, and he exhaled air when the weight of her shapely body landed on his. Manny blinked in surprise. The way they'd often bickered he never would have admitted it, but in any other circumstance this wouldn't have been unwelcome. He opened his mouth to say something witty, but he suddenly realized there was not time for that. "Hold on," he told her, looping an arm around her waist as he put the petal to the metal, the van now screeching as it backed up and out of the parking deck.

Shooting out in reverse, he spun the wheel and the vehicle whipped to the side, nearly striking a lamp post, avoiding it by a mere foot. He saw Morgan about to turn the next corner, and without delay he sped on after her. Civilians scrambling and an airport security guard furiously yelling into his mic. Behind him, the car he'd bumped was now shooting out of the deck as well, but thankfully without needing to make an extreme maneuver, their Van's momentum was far more stable. "You ok?" He asked Kennedy. "Ellie? You alright?"

Once he got confirmation, he let go of Kennedy's waist and shook his head at the entire situation. "Might be old fashioned, but maybe you should buy me some coffee first." He told her, though it was more of a tease. He gave her a wink to showcase this as she scooted back over to her seat. Putting his seat belt on now as they turned the corner Morgan did, Manny got her on the phone. "They're still tailing us. Might want to lose them quick before we got the PMPD breathing down our necks."

As if to further aggravate the situation, two bullets ricocheted off the top of the van. Manny gritted his teeth, really wanting to be the one with the gun in this situation. But he trusted Ellie. "Fuckers." He breathed. "El, see if you can hit their tires or the driver. We need to cut them off, now."
Will post tonite
Post is mostly ready. I'll post it up once I wake up.
WOO!~
Æthelwulf, the planetary Duke and former High General sat within his council chamber, upon what looked to be a throne. A powerful looking man with a kingly beard, he bore the insignia of the Duke upon his breast. He'd been given the position by System Monarch Angelos of the Fallen Angel legion. Commendation after Æthelwulf victory over the brutal Garruk hordes. Such a man expected only the best from his subordinates, for he ran the planet like he ran his old regiment. A well oiled machine needed well maintained parts, and teamwork to survive.

His grey eyes gazed at the cabinet of so called authorities of the planet Fornax. Men who paid or bartered for their positions rather than earned them through any hard work or good deed, he noted. The fat Lord Cho-Lan, along with his rivals Bornhold the Red, Eisenhiem the Merchant Prince, and Bryant of the Griffon, the head of the workers Union who did a very small amount of work himself. They sat there, drinking their beverages as they stank of sweat and vice. Pitiful, all of them.

He sighed, knowing that such a judgement was entirely fair to the rest of the men that sat at his table. The Grand Xenos Biologis was a man he felt he could trust. A gaunt but tall man named Rogefar, if the stories of this menace were true, he was likely the closest thing to an expert Fornax had. His advice would be paramount. Rekkr, the Captain of the Orbital Defense Militia was a red haired, barrel chested warrior of strong values and tough armor, and though he had a drinking problem, his men believed in him with a fervor.

Varken, the High Gunner was also present. If anyone knew the planetary guns, he was the one. Last, unexpected, but not unwlecome was Astador the Death Bringer. His Dark Cavalier forces that had been visiting the planet for resupply would be invaluable in the supposed battle to come. Clad in black Vulcan armor, with jump packs, plasma and force weaponry, he would provide shock and awe against this Xenos menace.

"Duke Æthelwulf, with all due respect," Eisenhiem began, chuckling as if this entire meeting was a farce. "Are we completely sure this is not some plea by Cho-Lan to halt the business of his competition?"

"You know damn well that is not the case." Cho-Lan spat, murder in his eyes. The Lord regretted teaming up with his rivals to gain control of the planet now that his shields were compromised. If the others convinced the Duke this was a nonissue, he would be slaughtered along with the rest of the ones that couldn't hide. It was a sad irony, and he hated being on the other side of a self-serving scheme. "Your facilities have been hit as well."

"Random raiders," Bornhold scoffed, black goatee smelling of whiskey. "It occurs. Why rile up the entire planet over small incidents? This is the edge of known space, superstition serves no one. Fornax is heavily defended is it not?"

"Silence." Æthelwulf ordered, grey eyed gaze shutting the merchant's mouths, before they switched to Cho-Lan. "I believe you," he said. "But I cannot in good conscience order a full scale mobilization until I hear the words of your 'witnesses.' Are they present?" The Duke seemed to be running out of patience.

"Y-Yes, they are just outside." Cho-Lan stammered, calling for Neil and Sayeeda to be invited in.

Meanwhile

Neil's face was pressed to the glass of the foyer window, overlooking the entire infrastructure of the planetary palace. He'd seen a few from afar before, but the pilot had never been inside one. As a guest, anyway. Below him was miles of sweeping structures, far more ridged and functional than most palaces. The towers and halls were squared and made of the stout, Fornax steel and stone that gave the planet its wealth.

He wondered if he could grab some scrap from the work areas he saw far off when this was all over. He might be able to remake his old mecha.

Behind him, Sayeeda leaned against the marble wall of the vast foyer they waited within. That is, until a message was broadcasted within the room's speakers.

"The Duke will see you now." It announced, and the door to the council chamber opened.
@Penny
The Israel vs. Palestine debate is something I'm not too familiar with, at least for awhile, so I can't really comment. But I just read the top article. It's very contentious stuff, though it would be easy to look at it as the U.S. wanting out because they owe money, and don't feel like developing countries deserve their funding.
