Bruno's second swipe with the axe bounced harmlessly off the see-through surface, causing no damage beyond a bit of a scuff. If he were to keep trying, he would eventually get somewhere. Meanwhile, the object outside the viewing window, the moon, continued to grow larger and larger as the team was drawn in closer. Two objects flew by as well, headed directly for the moon. They each resembled a large orb, connected to two flat semi-square sheets of metal by two axels. Ships of some manner, and within a few seconds they had disappeared from sight, landing somewhere in the big sphere.
In regards to the lands, I agree with the other two that the second option is better and, in my opinion, far more unique and interesting. Also just to throw out there, I only have access to the internet from my phone for a bit which doesn't interface with Titan pad, so I have no idea what's on there. I'm also surprised you went the route of Titan pad rather than google docs. Just saying.
Name: Phaerun Markuv Titles or Aliases: The Faithless, the Wandering Spirit Gender: Male Age: 32 Race: Human/Ghost Color: W/B Appearance:
As a member of pure Orzhov blood, Phaerun's natural form has some physical deformities. His skin is a dark gray, appearing to be rotting. That's because, well, it is. His face lacks any distinguishing features beyond this under normal circumstances. When he has taken life force to heal himself, he takes on the form of what he would have looked like if it hadn't been for that nasty Orzhov tendency to twist up genetics like a balloon animal in order to achieve longevity. In this form his skin is a dark white Mediterranean, with a short goatee and long hair, black as obsidian. Regardless as to whether or not he is in his healthy form or his true birth form, Phaerun's eyes shimmer golden, and his left ear is pierced with an earring designed to be identical to the Orzhov sigil. When his spirit is separated from his body, it appears to look perfectly identical to how his body currently looks, apart from being translucent with wisps of blue. Phaerun wears protective leather armor everywhere he goes, along with a hooded cloak. The hem is made of white silk, the main body of the cloak is black, and the symbol of Orzhov is worn proudly emblazoned upon the back.
Brief personality: Usually reserved until he has something to say, but when Phaerun does speak, he tends to show off his intelligence and education with adept observations and somewhat long-winded sentences. He very much believes in the "little guy" and does his best to look out for commoners, but more to the point he enjoys rooting out corruption and paying evil unto evil. He's a classic example of how being good does not necessarily mean that you are nice, as his punishments often involve draining the life force from his enemies in order to heal his own body, then subjugating their ghost to his will, or animating their corpse as a thrull. Phaerun often hides his kind and caring nature behind the facade of a self-centered elitist. Home plane: Ravnica Equipment: An ornate dagger for protection and ceremonial use, leather armor, cloak with Orzhov symbol. Abilities: Aside from his magic, Phaerun has the ability to separate his soul from his physical body, which then enters a trance-like state. Phaerun’s ghost retains all of his spellcasting and planeswalking capabilities, but cannot interact with the living or any solid matter.
As a pure blooded Orzhov, Phaerun is a master of magic involving contracts, life force (specifically taking it from others or imparting it to allies), the creation and animation of thrulls, raising the spirits of the dead, and of course the ultimate power in any plane: money.
It should be noted that due to the nature of his soul and his body, Phaerun’s physical form decays faster than your standard pureblood Orzhov, so he needs to steal the life force of other beings regularly to repair his body.
History: Our story begins somewhere quaint, quiet, and completely normal without any expectations of greatness... Is what I would say if I wanted to lie. Phaerun was born the first son of Korva, head of the Markuv family and pure blood members of the Orzhov Syndicate. From an early age the family raised and educated Phaerun on how to be a good Orzhov elitist. How the Obzedat ghost council was the supreme law within the guild, about faith, tradition, and profits. He was taught what to shun, such as the evils of charity, falling into debt, independence. All for one for the faithful of Orzhova.
As he grew, Phaerun focused his studies on the other guilds, as a method of knowing the competition. At least, that's what he told his family and his tutors, and it was true... At least at first. The more he studied the methods of the other guilds, the more he became enamored with them. These were nine other governing bodies of the city-plane, all with radically different methods and ideologies, and yet each one was successful in its own way (except for the Gruul, whom Phaerun still has nothing but disdain for). How could the rule of the Obzedat be so absolute when clearly they had nine equals? Guildpact or not, that did not sit well in the mind of Phaerun. And so he took a turn that he would live to regret...
Upon his 17th birthday Phaerun was given a modest sum of money with which he was to invest however he saw fit. The test was to ensure that he could make back his initial investment within one year. He did exactly that. After all, Phaerun was a born and bred pure blood Orzhov. It's what he did with that profit that became an issue. Phaerun began taking profits off the books and using them to provide for the sick and needy, particularly in the slums of the Undercity. His activities were discovered by guild bookkeepers after a few months and while it was not illegal to use his own money in such a way, it was shall we say, highly discouraged. Phaerun lost favor within his family and the guild, and this act of charity inspired others to teach him another economic lesson: cutthroat competition.
Over the course of the next two years other guild members acted against Phaerun's interests. He put up a good fight, called in numerous favors, expanded his businesses, and showed them all that he was of a fantastic business mind, but their combined efforts bled dry his coffers until he eventually had to rely upon his family's wealth once more. Wealth that he couldn't spend however he saw fit. The guild and their church preached unity among the families, sharing their influence and wealth amongst one another, yet for the small crime of charity they turned on him in an instant, and at the order of the ghost council itself. Phaerun lost faith in the church. Not in what it preached, but what it practiced. This made Phaerun desperate.
No longer caring for the consequences, the Markuv heir began to share with the commoners once again, this time from the coffers of the guild itself. Unfortunately he did not think this plan through very well, and was almost instantly caught red handed. For the crimes of stealing from the Obzedat and treason against the Orzhov Syndicate, Phaerun was sentenced to death and 1000 years of indentured servitude, in that order. The council made the necessary preparations to have Phaerun's soul torn from his body and placed under thrall to carry out his sentence. It was during this painful, excruciating process, that something unbelievable happened.
Phaerun's spark ignited.
Half way through the ritual, the young Orzhov heir's planeswalker spark flared to life, and by reflex he found himself transported to another location, another world entirely. One where foxes spoke, men lived in the clouds, and the very land itself came to life. Ever since his first walk interrupted that dreadful ceremony, Phaerun has possessed the magic to separate his spirit from his body at will, a most fortuitous ability.
He has spent the last three years walking to different planes, studying the various cultures, and doing whatever he can to help out. He doesn't consider himself a usurper, but a liberator. The one thing he cannot stand seeing more than any other is the ruling class lording their wealth and power over the suffering of the common man. Such tyrants often find that their very life force has been stolen away, used to heal the body of the Wandering Spirit, just as their money is used to feed the servants they built such wealth from.
Now Phaerun the Faithless has found himself on the plane of Omara, hopeful that he can make a difference here. He intends to spread the good word of Orzhova, but unlike the guild he has left, he intends to practice what he preaches.

Not going to be available on my skype for the next day or two, so I'll leave my username here for you to add if you get to it first. professional.protagonist
In regards to suggestions for Phaerun, the +X ability does sound better with your wording for sure. As for exchanging "shadow" for "unblockable," the form didn't ask that the card with the current set design, so I took that as a "proof of ability," a test to see what we can come up with. Aside from that, originally it was going to be unblockable, but some friends I ran it by had some good points that convinced me to swap it out. I don't really have any problems switching it back, though. Just for the future, I might make it clear in the first page that what's made on there is intended to be used specifically within the context of this custom set.
@liferusher@EnterTheHero Remember that Kafka is unavailable to post as Mary for the moment, so it's just the three of us plus Souta in the library right now. Kafka mentioned that we can mod Mary ourselves (mentioned in the skype convo), and I already did a little bit of that myself (well, more like I took an action with my character that directly affected her, but still). Communication is key at this point. Life, I know you mentioned having to put studies into overtime or you risk losing school, so when do you think you can get a post up? Same for you, Enter.
Storage Deck - A highly advanced inventory system developed in the distant future, storage decks allow physical objects to be compressed into computer data and stored on a massive mobile hard drive, and reconstructed (or “digistructed” if you will) back into reality at the user’s demand. Currently Gaige’s storage deck can contain up with 12 objects.
Maliwan Lightning SMG - A submachine gun manufactured by Maliwan, it doesn’t shoot traditional “bullets,” but converts live ammunition loaded into lightning shocks, dealing out energy based damage. Each magazine holds 22 rounds and it has a fire rate of 3.2/sec.
Jakobs revolver - If it took more than one shot, you weren’t using a Jakobs! This sleek hand revolver holds a standard 6 shots, is powerful enough to puncture most metal armor plating,, fires as quickly as the user can pull the trigger, and the grip is made of a beautiful wood finish.
TORGUE Shotgun - Highly inaccurate and only able to hold two shells before needing to be reloaded, this shotgun does the one thing that all TORGUE guns excel at: THE BULLETS *BLEEP*ING EXPLODE!
Maliwan Fiery Spike Shield - It’s dangerous for a teenage girl to roam around the horrible bullet-riddled, monster infested, bandit occupied, everything-trying-to-murder-you surface of Pandora. That’s why Gaige has a personal energy shield manufactured by Maliwan! It can take a fair amount of abuse before failing, and in that event Gaige just needs to get out of the heat of combat for a bit to let it recharge! Oh, and anybody that tries to melee Gaige while the shield is still active gets set on fire! WOO!
Dahl ECHO HUD - This nifty device, created by the Dahl Corporation, gives a heads-up display for Gaige, detailing all manner of things that’s good to keep in mind at all times. It provides a compass so she always knows where she’s going, displays her shield’s current strength, keeps track of ammunition, allows access to a map (automatically filled in as the terrain is explored), provides a journal (both audio and written), can interface with similar technology, and helps her to be more aware of her surroundings in general.
D374-TP “Deathtrap” - A robot hand-built by Gaige to act as a “bully deterrent,” Deathtrap is about 6 feet tall, but floats at about an imposing 8 feet with its anti-grav propulsion system. Highly protective of Gaige, this synthetic creature looking to be cobbled together from spare parts and rust will defend its mistress and her friends to the last electric surge in its wiring. Outfitted with some truly impressive weaponry, which include digistruct claws able to tear apart flesh like a hot knife through butter, a highly inaccurate lightning bolt projector, and a shield regenerator, Deathtrap’s main failing is its low power supply, meaning that the majority of the time it has to be stored in Gaige’s personal storage deck and power beacon. When Deathtrap is unleashed, expect Hell to follow. Unfortunately when the virus struck, it corrupted Deathtrap's data in his personal storage deck, meaning Gaige currently has no way to digitstruct him. She's more than a little upset by this development, and is currently seeking a solution.
Abilities:
Gadgeteer Genius - See Deathtrap? Gaige designed and built that. By herself. In her father’s garage. As a school science fair project. And it was meant to deter bullies. Needless to say, Gaige works miracles with machines.
Cybernetic - Gaige is, in only the loosest of terms, a cyborg. She accidentally cut her arm with a saw one day and figured, “Why bother wasting a healing hypo?” and lopped the rest of it off. She then built a robotic replacement, which contains Deathtrap’s personal digistruct beacon and storage deck. While the arm is strong enough to smash concrete, it’s not made with the same durability in mind, so it’s somewhat fragile. It also can’t interface with any technology, seeing as it’s only a prosthetic.
ANARCHY!!!! - The longer she’s in a fight, the more fervent and, dare I say, insane Gaige gets. Once she’s fired off enough bullets, she changes from a chipper, somewhat hyper girl, into a hysterical machine of death. As she gradually slips down this path, her bullets, for whatever reason, fire off with greater and greater force, until eventually a single shot that normally wouldn’t scratch an alpha skaag becomes powerful enough to outright slay a rakk hive. That is, if she can actually hit something.
Weaknesses and Limitations:
Only Human - Gaige is, for all intents and purposes, a normal human teenage girl. Take away her equipment, and she’s only somewhat more athletic than your average fit 17 year old, quite squishy, and easily killable.
Excitable Temper - Gaige is a bit hyperactive and passionate about everything she does and says. This includes her temper, so she can be easily angered if the right buttons are pressed (top of the list being bullies, stealing ideas, corrupt authority, or being that stupid bitchface Marcie Holloway). Naturally, this can lead to rash decisions and big mistakes.
ANARCHY!!! - As Gaige’s battle lust grows, and her power swells, her aim suffers. At first it’s hardly noticeable, but at its worst the bullets she fires completely defy all known laws of physics, sometimes by firing behind her altogether!
Personality: Energetic, determined, passionate, highly intelligent, and anti-authoritarian are the key words to describe Gaige. She’s well educated on current events, and while she’s a bit of a social shut in, this hasn’t stopped her from broadcasting her own ECHO cast show (which has spiked in subscribers ever since Deathtrap killed that stupid bitchface Marcie Holloway and she was forced to stow away to Pandora!). It’s not that Gaige is a natural introvert per say, just that her interests generally keep her away from groups of people. She takes a strong dislike of anybody abusing others, whether this be bullies, or the entitled taking advantage of their power and positions. If you’re in a position to stop this sort of injustice, and you aren’t, then you’re just as bad in her eyes. FIGHT THE POWER! ANARCHY FOREVER! Because she has such mature interests and takes such a stance on intergalactic politics, Gaige is quick in an attempt to prove that she’s a “mature” woman so that her opinions aren’t just swept aside as the naive beliefs of some teenaged kid. Despite this, she is very much still a young girl, and enjoys a number of things you would expect her too, such as cute things and hot cocoa. Backstory: Raised on Eden-6 by a loving and understanding father, it was quite apparent from early on that Gaige had a natural knack for technology and engineering. Life was comfortable and nice, but even in the distant future among other solar systems and galaxies there is one constant in life that will never really go away: high school life sucks. It especially sucks when you have rich stuck up whore bitch-faces like Marcie Holloway always acting superior and smug in your face. Whatever, Marcie doesn’t know anything. The only reason she’s even in this school is because her father has more money than God. Oh, sorry, tangent. Anyway, Marcie inspired Gaige’s next science fair project: an anti-bullying robot!
Enter Deathtrap, or as it was simply known back then, DT. Gaige spent many hours designing and building DT in her makeshift workshop based in her father’s garage, at one point accidentally cutting her arm, then deciding to slice it off entirely to replace with a robotic prosthetic she designed (no big deal, though dad kept throwing up, hahaha). Anyway, when all was said and done, DT was finished and he was glorious! That’s exactly why Marcie decided to steal his design, made an imperfect replica, and had her rich as sin dad bribe the judges to give her first place while Gaige was dropped down to, wait for it, THIRD! THIRD PLACE for DT, while Marcie’s stolen and barely functional version won! Not only that, but Marcie immediately sold the design to the planet’s incredibly corrupt police force! The injustice! Gaige couldn’t let that stand, so she confronted Marcie about it, and what did Marcie do? She shoved Gaige! She had the gall to shove the girl she had stolen from and cheated! This activated DT’s anti-bullying protocols, so he went over to make Marcie leave Gaige alone with a little swipe of his digistruct claws. No biggie, just a warning, ya know? Unfortunately Marcie kinda… Um… Exploded. Yeah.
So because DT was a little too zealous in his programming, Gaige was escorted to the principal’s office and expelled, expelled! Can you believe it? Gaige was the real victim here! And to top it off, those same corrupt police were going to arrest her! Gaige did the only sensible thing she could do. After her father caused a distraction with a golf cart and a bunch of gasoline (go dad!) she stowed away on a transport ship off planet, headed for Pandora. Gaige headed right for the thick of it all, the most dangerous charted planet known to mankind. She was going to be a vault hunter! And Deathtrap was gonna help, too. Entry Point: Handsome Jack has been thoroughly murderized and the Destroyer destroyed. Gaige and her friends recently got word of a large stash of pirate booty out in the sands...
