Maire and Auges

Maire and Auges reached the city soon enough. Instead of risking the landing inside the city, Maire landed somewhere outside the gate on flat, open land. It was a bit of a rough landing too. Maire needed a bit of a rest before she thought to fly again, especially if she were to carry a child as such as this again. Regardless, it felt as if the land itself absorbed most of the impact from their landing, thanks to the powers of Maire's crystal. "Well then. We've arrived." Maire said, making sure Auges had decent footing before letting go. "This is it. This is the place the vision called for."

Ante Magnus

"That's the city there on the cliff." The Caravan Leader said, look at it with Auges as it came into view. [b]It'll still take a bit to get up there though. We have to pass it by to go up the cliff a little further that way. Ante just nodded happily, looking at the beauty of the "City on the Cliff." All the water, the grass, trees, beautiful stone. . . It was all amazing.

As it went out of view, Ante waited as patiently as possible for them to get back to the city. They followed the road up an incline that eventually lead to the city. "Wow, this is amazing." It wasn't as amazing as Harena's splendor in it's time, but it was still pretty great! The most busy place Ante's been since. . . Whatever's happened. "This place is beautiful. Much different from the desert. It has a lot of nice colors to it, lacking that distinct tan color from back home."

The Caravan Leader couldn't help but laugh a bit. This was the natural reaction for a child after all. "Well, we got you here, and you protected us so I believe our transaction complete. We'll be in town for a bit, so if you need anything you can come find us. And here, a little extra for the horse we captured." He handed Ante a small sack of coins. Unsure of how much these were worth, Ante accepted them quietly.

"Thank you. Vis watch over you." Ante said, putting her hands together. The merchant smiled and nodded before the caravan went off on their own. "What to do now?" The Bladedancer muttered, wander the city, wondering why there was vision leading her here.

I like her, however I believe that something you may have overlooked is what see actually does with her magic. She has some basic skill in Natural magic however you don't state how this skill manifests, how she uses the magic. I can assume planty things but still.

Alright, I feel like there could be something else I could add to this character, but I can't think of it as of now so I'm going with what I have at the moment.

Ghislaine the Alraune

”Oh my, aren’t you a lovely girl? Don’t ‘swing’ that way? Not for long~~~.”

Appearance:

Ghislaine has two bodies, her human body and her plant body. Her human body is a little on the small side by human standards with a green tint to her skin. In addition, on her head is a flower. Typically, she doesn’t wear much. She really just wears enough to fit in with whatever society she is currently with or, rather, just enough to cover her special parts.

Her plant body looks like a weird moving leafy stump with little tentacle like roots for legs and a beautiful flower on top. There is also room in the center for her human body to enter if she so desires. There is also another flower like the one on her head that wraps around her human body while she is near her plant one.

Magic:

Natural - 4 - Ghislaine has a basic tribal knowledge of how to use magic. before, they used their magic to make it so humans would never make it or see into their home area. Now they half-heartedly teach it to their young just as tradition. This can manifest as the rapid growth of shrubs, vines, and other things ones would consider small obstacles in a forest.

Abilities:

Nectar: Ghislaine’s subspecies of Alraune excretes a wonderful Nectar from their flowers that they produce in high quantities when they are in a state of heightened emotions. For example, when they get scared by someone, or when they feel great lust, very happy, etc. This Nectar has the effects of a relaxant or anti-depressant and is extremely delicious. Some say that one can get addicted to it, but it’s only as addicting as good food. Tends to have a greater relaxant effect on males than females.

Nectar Injector: This is mostly a defensive tool. It’s a tentacle that extends from the flower on her head. When frightened or fearful, some of the excess Nectar automatically goes to this regrowing appendage that allows the Alraune to inject a subject with her Nectar. It allows for the Alraune to sedate an enemy so it can make an escape.

Tentacle Arms: The plant body of an Alraune has a number of tentacle arms that allow this body to grab and pull and other things. They may look weak or fragile, but they are rather strong though cutting them off is pretty easy.

Bio: Ghislaine is a younger Alraune from Germany, at twenty. She comes from a tribe of high Nectar producing Alraune in an isolated forest area not far north from the Rhine. Within the aftermath of the war, the number of Alraune didn’t change much, but it did make them a bit more wary of knowing little about the world around them. They sent many of their youngest out to learn of the world that now knew of them, or what was left. Ghislaine, just so happened to be picked for Arkangrad Academy.

While the elders of her community had good, whole-hearted and pure enough reasons to send out the young, Ghislaine had a different reason in mind. . . To hit on all the cute girls and find a lifetime partner or two or three. The men she met were all dull and boring and she wanted nothing to do with their ugly faces. No, ugly bearded faces. Instead, she could go to an academy where girls (and guys but Ghislaine didn’t care about that so much) of all races and species would meet together. Perhaps she could pick up a wife or two.

Luna seemed to get over herself a bit most obviously by answering Sorcha, "Denied. We'll have no such thing." Despite her words, she was still a bit red in the face. "That said, I lost, so I'm paying." She added. It was a sense of honor for to do such at least. How could the winner pay after all? "But yes, I could use some more rest."

Mugi the Yuki-Onna

So much paperwork, it was rather annoying. Mugi was glad to be in Cynthia's company of course, but there were things she would prefer to be doing otherwise. Perhaps. . . Something to do with lips. . . Either way, it didn't really matter now. A small girl came up and asked who she was. She looked familiar. "Oh! You're that small child that ran into me!" That's not quite how she meant it to come out, but it happened anyhow. "How, rude of me." She corrected herself before continuing. "My name is Mugi. I'm a Yuki-Onna. Who are you?" She had to ask, patting the girl's head.

Luna was ill-prepared for any of it. None of it at all. She wasn't sure if she was just accepting what could only be interpreted as Sorcha's affection. She wasn't just sure if that was Sorcha being Sorcha or if it meant. . . Well, more. Very unconvincingly, Luna meekly spat out, "I-I'm no one's plaything." She really couldn't take it much more. She was close to a breaking point. To counter that, she wiggled out of Sorcha's warm and soft embrace and stood. "A-anyways. As the winner of this, I'll treat you to food and drink. Your choice of where." She added at the end. It would be pretty obvious to Sorcha that Luna was simply just trying to skip over talking about what happened.

"Hey, Meowka. It's not going to work like this." The cat was holding on to her in an incredibly awkward and unworkable way. It couldn't be good for the cat either. She mentally ordered the dolls to gather a thick quilt and set it right next to where she was sitting. "You can do whatever later. Lay on my lap or whatnot. But for now, just lay here on the ground if you want. Or the bed. Whatever suits your fancy." She added, taking a second to look the cat in the eyes.

Well, to be fair, Luna hadn't fought Sorcha now that she was stronger, so it was somewhat expected. What was not expected, was what came after. A warm feeling in her mouth and flesh meeting flesh. It. . . Wasn't bad. Not that she'd admit it openly. In fact her reply was to look to the side, away from Sorcha. She was blushing like her face was on fire. That was. . . Tongue in cheek. . . And on tongue. . . In the most literal sense. Sorcha was really warm too. Comfortingly warm. No! No being distracted. Luna finally forced her voice to let itself be heard. "You're a perverted dragon, Sorcha." She wasn't sure what else to say, if there were really anything else to say. Her mind was drawing blanks. Huge blanks. The embarrassment just over took her body and practically forced it down. She didn't even give a bit of token resistance either.

"Not that close I'm afraid. You can watch if you'd like. It's tedious, and not very fun to witness... But I find it entertaining to do. I could teach you if you wanted." Katherine said, for once looking up at Meowka in her spot on top of the dresser. She meant it as a sign of truthfulness and welcoming. Hopefully the cat saw it in the Dollmaster's face. "Of course, you're probably not interested are you?" She said with a bit of a giggle on the back end of it. It didn't seem like she would be interested in after all."[/color]

Luna took the blow to her midsection, but not without blocking a bit with her hand. As she fell back, she noticed Sorcha going in for a tackle. She really couldn't do much here but take it. As she fell, it seemed Sorcha was trying to pin her. . . The best thing to do now was to interlock hands to keep from a full pin. As such, she was pretty much in a wrestling match with a mythical dragon that should be able to kill normal people with ease. This was pretty entertaining. "Got me down on the ground do you? Didn't think this would turn into some wrestling match."

As the dolls and Meowka returned home, they would notice that Katherine was still at her station, working on Meowka's dress. "Welcome back." She said without looking up from her work. She had made great progress. She finished up with the outline and design and started working on the outfit itself. She wasn't amazingly far but it was a good start. "Meowka dear, I would prefer if you don't drop one of the dolls as well... That aside, I'll get started on some real food." Well, she said "I" but she really meant the dolls. The ones that Meowka gave the groceries to took them elsewhere to work on it.

Personality:

Maire is a gentle and mother-like figure. She tends to care for those that she is friendly with, which tends to be anyone that is not an enemy to her. She nurtures those in need, providing succor. Elsewise friendly and helpful to those otherwise.

However, to enemies, she is the very wrath of the natural world, most rueing the day that they crossed the Avatar of Callaeci. That said, it is rare she would outright kill anyone or anything. More often than not, she would capture them and deliver them to the humans that follow her for just punishment.

Skills & Abilities

• Calming Presence (Blessing): As an Avatar of Callaeci, Maire can calm the lesser being around her be they human or beast making humans not so hostile and beasts passive to her.
• Sustenance of the Earth (Blessing): As a boon to being an Avatar of Callaeci, Maire can live off the earth itself drawing in life-sustaining nutrients from the earth itself.
• Nature’s Tongue (Blessing): Maire can understand all creatures and speak the language of anyone in the direct vicinity of her. This also allows her to speak to animals and humans alike.
• Manipulation of Wind (Blessing): With her fusion with her Spirit of the Bird, she also gained the ability to manipulate the wind, changing the winds and being able to strike out with great blades of wind as well as grow a pair of wings.
• Grand Crystal of Callaeci (Artifact): The Grand Crystal of Callaeci is a crystalized essence of the The Goddess Callaeci brimming with powers over the earth. This crystal allows its owner to control plant life around to grasp things with the roots or grow, create water from nothing, tear the earth asunder or launch rocks, and create bright light though it's overall strength weakens the further out it gets. It is the grand artifact showing that one is an embodiment of nature itself. More often than not, she wears the crystal inside her.

History

Backstory:

Maire was born in the Forest Town of Derwent many, many years ago. A decently sized town, it’s population hovered around the realm of 200 or so people. They practiced an extensive form of Nature Worship with many of the young girls of the town practicing as Maiden Priestesses of the Nature Spirits. Maire was one of these girls.

The Forest Land of Callaeci is home to many animals and Spirits of Nature that resemble these animals. Each of the Maidens would then choose and imprint on one of these spirits. Maire’s was the spirit of a bird. They manifest themselves as a guardian for each maiden, mostly following them around as a permanent companion.

Maire was a special case among the other girls however. She seemed to have a natural disposition towards the forest and seemed to not frighten animals unless they were already on the defensive. Many believed this a blessing of the Goddess of the Forest and put her on a high pedestal.

At first, it made her uncomfortable. She pondered if she should be praised as she were. Was she such a blessed being? Soon though, she came to understand her place in the forest. As a favor to one of the older Maidens, Maire made a pilgrimage into a Sacred Grove, home of the Goddess of Callaeci, to deliver an offering. At first, there was nothing. Her eyes saw nothing, but her Guardian sensed something. Not long after, so did Maire. It was a great force. Not malevolent, just powerful.

Not wanting to make a scene, Maire delivered the offering at the alter as she was asked and did a short ritual and prayer to the Goddess of Callaeci. Before leaving, she felt a pang of shock through her body. She took it as a sign from the Goddess. Hopefully, it was that she did well.

She returned the next day and told of her journey and then of the small pang she felt. No one had a clue what that could have been, but all assumed it must have been because of the Goddess. The next morning, another of the Maidens found something weird on her. What looked like wooden horns. She was brought in front of the Elders of the Maidens and of Derwent. After recounting the available information, they all agreed it must be a sign of the Goddess of Callaeci.

Months passed. Soon enough, Maire decided to return to the Sacred Grove. She needed to know. Perhaps now the Goddess would speak to her. She went alone aside her Guardian. One thing different from last time was the massed amounts animals in the grove. Both prey and predator alike. Deer and wolf. Rabbit and bear.

A being moved towards her. It seemed ethereal, an enigma. It looked as a human woman, but felt far from it. It introduced itself as the Great Spirit Callaeci, what her people call the Goddess of Callaeci and she had chosen Maire to be her Avatar in the days to come. She had already started the process during Maire’s first visit and the only thing left was to become one with her Guardian.

As the highest goal of the Maidens was to watch the forest and heed it’s call, Maire had no choice but to answer in a positive to Callaeci. With that, Maire and her guardian were encased quickly in a tree that came from the ground beneath them.

A year later, the tree split open, revealing a new being. Very human, but not at all. Long hair that dropped to the ground, feathers covered the body, great antler-like tree branches from her head, and bird claws for toes. It was Maire. The same person on the inside albeit her physical appearance changed. Another thing she noticed was a crystal that was in her hand. She quickly found out with experimentation that it could do many things. Controlling water, plants and the earth itself.

She was curious as to the state of Derwent. She had no idea how long it had been since she disappeared. The trees seemed the same to her, but trees don’t age quickly.

As she returned to town, she noticed that it had expanded slightly, but not much. What she received when she entered were not as shocked as Maire would have imagined. They were peaceful. As if expecting an old friend. They were not phased in the slightest at her appearance. She returned to the temple to find that the Maidens were expecting her to return.

While slightly dismayed by their apparent ease at accepting her appearance, she was also happy. She fit back into society with apparent ease. One thing did change though. As she told her story, and why she became as she were, the Elders agreed and crowned her Avatar of Callaeci and Druid. She went about her business, with the additional duties of traveling the forest to make sure everything was in order.

Years passed, and generations have come and gone. Maire’s changed from a pious, naive youth to a wise and gentle matron. She made sure that the humans used the trees for lumber only as much as necessary and did not harm the the natural order. She made sure not to interfere in the natural order of things as the spirits and Maidens both approved.

One day, she received a premonition that soon a giant monstrosity would come to do harm to the forest. She merely assumed it was from Callaeci herself, and prepared for this beast. She was ill-prepared though, as the monster came sooner than expected, a dragon!

It was monster beyond what was expected. A flame spewing beast of which was larger than she was prepared for. She was no dragon slayer, but she did what she needed to do. She fought, and fought, and fought. Eventually, with the help of all the townspeople and the animals of the forest, they eventually won over the beast.

Sadly, the forest was mostly destroyed. To preserve the life of the forest, Maire, who was on the last leg of her life after the fight, and many of the spirits of the forest sacrificed themselves to restore what they could, and grow greenery out of the ashes of the dead.

Tales last through-out Illisk of the selflessness of Maire and those spirits that lost their existence.

Myth:

The stories say that Maire, Avatar of Callaeci, was a figure born of trees and friendly to humans. Many tell of the various innocents she helped, and of the many bandits, thieves and robbers she captured. All sources agree that she did in fact kill a dragon, although many disagree on the method and the amount of ways thought to do so differ as much as the amount of tribes that exist. Still, she lives on as a source of Heroism and as an inspiration to being motherly and kind to those you love.
