Being truly on my own is a bit of a weird feeling. It's never really happened.

Let it never be said that sometimes extreme brevity isn't the most appropriate post, though. Everything is a tool.

It's worth noting that Saber's the strongest class, but the strongest Servants are both Archers. Classes are just a guideline.

Saber probably works out as the strongest because of just how many heroes that slot into the classes are primarily known for swords, and the world's glut of magic swords. There's no need to assume it's an intentional conspiracy. The knight classes are the best in combat because that's literally the qualification. Berserker's also good at that but if in full-crazy mode disadvantaged against smart opponents (it's not like strong Berserkers can't overwhelm their opposition). Caster and Assassin are by default not combatants.
I would've thought the obvious presence of breasts in the picture was a clue. xD
Sir Tyaethe Radistirin

Whilst others might be tired by the day's exertions, Tyaethe was back in full form on the way back. Her blade was hefted to catch what moonlight it could and begin the process of regenerating its broken tip and, internally, the paladin groused at how the interrupted assassination attempt made her dressing neatly for naught: there hadn't even been time to get a good meal at the ball. The ball that, hopefully, nobles would now be allowed to exit when reports of the Knights' success got back to them.

That ought to silence the doubters about Fanilly's ability to serve as a captain.

There wasn't time to get away and to her room before something entirely unexpected happened: Merilia, floating in the air behind some... was that an Alphiine? No, it couldn't be, and she'd met a few dignitaries from Akitsushima in her lifetime--enough to recognise the outfits. Not that she'd seen a rabbit from there from there, either.

The rabbit was a minor point compared to the witch. There were a lot of things that she wanted to say and wanted to ask... but... just a projection. From further away than ever before, but she recognised the signs from campaigns in the past, when the knights had split up. Half of what she wanted to ask was pointless without the small girl actually being here.

"Captain, if Merilia sent her then she should be safe. If she wanted to cause real problems, she would come here in person," the white-haired girl said, turning on one foot for the stairs. It was time to get her armour on; she felt even more exposed with that one watching.
... why there?
@ADamnFiddle ... Svetleaze looks like Irisviel and Justeaze, not Ilya. Got the age wrong there.
Jack will get a scarf.
Svetleaze von Einzbern

Unlike most else, Svetleaze knew what they were going to be doing today before coming down to the room. Someone had to assist and double-check with drawing so many magic circles (and making sure it didn't draw on the Fuyuki Great Grail instead) and who better to assist with that than the Einzbern homunculus? It was their design in the first place. It was a nice distraction from this overly-technological facility, besides. So much redundant and unnecessary technology with the number of magi here...

Her plans for the summoning remained unchanged from arrival: refrain from using a catalyst. Whilst she could undoubtedly summon a far stronger Servant than anyone here by putting her weapon to a secondary use, it would derail the plans for the Fifth War even further. Not summoning someone so powerful as Berserker could lead to a repeat of the disastrous Fourth due to a lack of control... and to force a summon as Berserker would reveal a secret known only to those that originally founded the Grail Wars.

Not having to accept the enormous mana drain from Heracles was also pressing on her mind. Though she might be able to manage it, unlike the unfortunately human mages here, such a thing without being specifically designed for it would arrest her combat ability for certain. With no idea what was coming next, her ability to safeguard herself even with a Servant to do the same was paramount.

In the end, as the other Masters filtered into the room, Svetleaze stood by an empty circle and waited with a cold expression on her face. She would just put in as much power as reasonable and hope to summon a hero sufficiently potent.

Ghyslaine Vinla-Meir

Staying in such a high-tech facility was almost uncomfortable, as her home had nothing more complicated than a wood-fired stove in it, but having taken multiple first-aid courses in various environments not completely out of her familiarity. Having arrived over a week in advance--it was the cheapest trip available--she had found time to try and (unsuccessfully) make inroads with befriending some of the other Masters, and worked on something for her Servant. It might have seemed frivolous to prepare a gift for a warrior but... she had to ensure a good relationship from the start, no?

It could get quite cold, in the middle of such a huge ocean, and Ghyslaine had decided to knit a scarf. It didn't help that reports about the older grail wars had indicated something of a... lack of warm clothing on the Servants behalf, so preparation was prudent. Since she hadn't thought to prepare for days of little else to do in advance, the end result was a patchwork of bright and cheery colours; Ghyslaine hadn't got enough of any one colour for a consistent pattern.

After her arrival, she took up a position by a vacant and empty circle. The scarf was put aside for the minute as she looked closely at the design... and very deliberately unwrapped a bandage from around her hand. The mana for a summoning had to be quite a drain and, to offset it, a thin line of blood fed from her hand to the circle, magically infused and tracing out the pattern.

This would make it easier. And maybe the Servant would appreciate a scarf if summoned with her blood as a component?
I always assume that when replacing the rules somehow they don't use Assassin as the same class, intentionally or unintentionally. You're only going to get a one-to-one correspondence with the Fuyuki Grail War if the Einzbern are providing the Greater Grail and Zouken is helping out. xD

As for ME: to be fair, when Nasu wrote ME, it was just for F/SN. And the thing that universally gets forgotten is it can be turned off. Illya's just angry at Berserker and keeps him crazy, Lancelot doesn't WANT to be sane. It's not actually hard to get round.

Stacked wars are more interesting. And make for more options.
<Snipped quote by Raineh Daze>
Does this matter in a setting where the elves are Old Norse (the dwarves, too), the hobbits halflings Nem are Tolkienic, the "Naga" is based in Greek mythology but perfected in its modern form by a guy born in the Sixties,.......and so on?

As of four days ago we have a sanctioned Japanese-flair character, too.

I don't think it's that damned egregious.

At what point does "influence from multiple languages and cultures" mean that gratuitous foreign language is acceptable? Yeah, there's a character from fantasy-Japan, who should therefore be the only person using obviously modern Japanese. The roleplay is English. The language the characters are speaking is transcribed as English (I think it's probably something from the low countries). There is absolutely no reason that a character should be using Japanese. O_o

It's basically having a roleplay set in Rome and then a character casually spouts a Chinese proverb untranslated. Nonsensical.
Because one is English and the other is explicitly Japanese? Come on, that's not even a difficult question to answer. Hell, it's not even true onomatopoeia: Japanese has a LOT of words for sounds that aren't actually sounds. Onomatopoeia for smiling is damn weird.

"Typical woman, really: too weak to fight her own battles, so she surrounds herself with boot-lickers." Gütta spoke with a sneer nestled into the wrinkles of his nose, bleeding down into the corners of his mouth. "Beyond that, we haven't met much."

... did you... totally misunderstand the setting? Blatant sexism like that... doesn't fit. Particularly in this order of all places. Plus... half the cast. I mean one second there's Japanese not-onomatopoeia and the next, uh... "let's assume Victorian gender roles".
